And I think we all can agree that it's much more fun if we stick to critiquing the clothes rather than the women!

You have to think of the Queen Mother having 2 very glam sisters in law!

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 10/07/2019 07:54

Apparently Princess Marina looked down on the QM for being dowdy. I suspect that she would have had most in common with Wallis Simpson. I wonder how much their paths actually crossed....

QueenOfTheAndals · 10/07/2019 08:15

@JaimeBronde You're right, she does. But the princess' namesake granddaughter Marina Ogilvy looks even more like her! I think Princess Marina was also a first cousin of the DoE, which means the Kents are doubly related to HM's children.

Just catching up on overnight posts. How very sad about Ben Goldsmith's daughter.

@GotToGoMyOwnWay At least she had the Duchess of Gloucester to keep her company. The Gloucesters led a bit of an international life (think he was GG of Canada at one point?) but had to return when HM became queen as the Duke had to be on hand in case he was needed as regent if HM died while Charles was underage. Much the same as Harry will have to do if William becomes king before George reaches 18.

Only just catching up with the Wimbledon stories. Not great if someone chose to create a 40 seat exclusion zone around Meghan, if other members couldn’t come in.
I don’t think she can switch into “Celebrity” mode and request privacy if she’s in a very public place.
Kate just sat in a seat in an outside court.
Very bad pr advice around Meghan.

QueenOfTheAndals · 10/07/2019 09:19

Pretty poor advice but really, the gutter press are out to get her no matter what she does. She could save someone's kitten from death and she'd still be accused of doing it to get attention!

Myimaginarycathasfleas · 10/07/2019 09:22

I agree the press are on the look out for sticks to beat her with, but she really shouldn't be handing them out. All those empty seats did make me cross.

FiveTwoFaster · 10/07/2019 09:24

Meghan maybe must read the Mail - if you have seen your SIL perched on a chair at the back on court 18, completely surrounded by the public and 2 friends and DoC seemed pretty comfortable with that - why would she kick up a stink about her safety a couple of days on unless she were actually quite worried. If she had done that first then DoC went in all serene that’s one thing, but to have Kate behave like a fairly normal Wimbledon punter albeit in the Royal Box largely, then to manage her own visit quite so badly seems cackhanded and I don’t know why? She was a master at her own PR pre Harry. People take endless photos at Wimbledon, the players are famous but the spectators often are too! Her security must know you can’t police photos just for one woman!

BertrandRussell · 10/07/2019 09:31

The empty seats looked bad. But it was the members enclosure so no bumping of the public. And it’s often not full.
She didn’t have an exclusion zone at the baseball/basketball - can’t remember which- she went to last week. I wonder what was different.

Myimaginarycathasfleas · 10/07/2019 09:35

It's always possible I suppose that the other spectators were choosing seats well away from her. I would. I'd be afraid of being caught on camera myself or not being able to watch the game for onlookers.

That's the most positive spin I can think of.

QueenOfTheAndals · 10/07/2019 09:36

Oh was it the members' enclosure? That's a bit different to a public section then, as they wouldn't be allowed to sit in there anyway.

Bertrand she was with Harry for the baseball game.

GrumbleBumble · 10/07/2019 10:01

note the matching cuffs and collar! Sorry to lower the tone but that made me snort. I had a brief mental image of her Maj. flashing the royal bush. 🌳

Myimaginarycathasfleas · 10/07/2019 10:04

@GrumbleBumble, However brief, that mental image would scar me for life 😱

Paradyning · 10/07/2019 10:06

Hmmmm Mathilda in a cape thingy dress. Seems a bit unbalanced with the bare arms under it imo
Like the back though.

Love Leti in hot pink! Fab dress even if it is a little too tight.

pinkladyapples · 10/07/2019 10:31

Quite like Mathilde's cape dress.

Notmyrealname855 · 10/07/2019 11:02

Catching up!

Poor poor family, losing a child. Cannot imagine the pain they’re going through. Awful, unbearable.

Unfortunately no gossip from nurse friend - she just always says everyone gets treatments, lots in the public eye (she won’t even drop hints to me). My guess is, if they’re over 28 and thin but with a glowing face.. they’ve had treatments. Fillers and Botox are SO common. You see it with the royals too, surely. Remember also the range of weird treatments you can get - didn’t lovely Chrissy Teigan (big fan!) day she once got arm pit liposuction?

Notmyrealname855 · 10/07/2019 11:16

Love Max even in her less glamorous days! I’d bet £100 she hasn’t had any procedures - she’s just got great genes!

QueenOfTheAndals · 10/07/2019 11:21

I love that Max doesn't always have perfectly coiffed hair - it kind of makes her seem more down to earth and relatable, IYKWIM.

MM didnt book our that area though did she? That would be the worst ever PR! Assuming it was just a quiet day in the box. That day had gone so well, nice seeing her with friends!

Agree her PR is the pits. Part of the problem is H&M have kept quiet a lot of their lives together (rightly), but it’s tricky saying “we’re the casual cool couple...but we’re not accessible”. I get that they definitely need privacy and space, but hard line to tread if you don’t throw yourself into constantly handshaking/hugging/photos at public events - comes off as cold by contrast, and unexpected for the public. Would you know how to approach H in public? I’d be scared to be doxxed! Or eg the story about them adopting a dog - but the info is muddled, it was said they adopted one last year, and then you think well what happened to MM’s two dogs (old news but so odd). Hoping H is a dog person!

Anyway... Mathilde never gets much a look in. Will google her as don’t know much of her background, career etc !

Myimaginarycathasfleas · 10/07/2019 11:38

Bangladesh can be uncomfortably hot and humid, not great for hair dos. Max still cracking a smile despite that.

QueenOfTheAndals · 10/07/2019 12:05

The story about adopting a rescue dog was from The Sun! I think Meghan brought one of her dogs from Canada with her but the other one apparently now lives with friends. Hers rather than the dog's, I presume!
