And I think we all can agree that it's much more fun if we stick to critiquing the clothes rather than the women!

I agree that sun hats are required, but Pippa's hat looks too small to me, might be better worn at an angle, or she should have borrowed Lady Jane's hat, that looked a good large size! Grin

QueenOfTheAndals · 08/07/2019 15:03

Basically, I think Pippa is what Kate would look like if she wasn't a royal! So less 'groomed', hair not always perfectly blowdried and clothes off the peg etc.

I always thought the Lady Detective, Jane with the jaunty hat, was older than Sarah, Diana's other sister, but she's not.

Ninkaninus · 08/07/2019 15:48

A lot of people wear their hats too big and too low down. Pippa’s doesn’t look wrong to me.

hopeishere · 08/07/2019 16:20

I think lots wear hats too high. Amal Clooney in this outfit for example.

Ninkaninus · 08/07/2019 16:27

It depends on the style of the hat, too.

MotherofPearl · 08/07/2019 16:44

Half way through the thread and I've not posted at all. Can't keep up with you lot!

I'm here now to express my dislike of Leti's shoes. I think the dress is a rewear. The shoes are really a dire shade of pink, imo.

I love Amal's look there!

Pippa - agree with the comments that each piece is nice, but not together!

MissSueFlay · 08/07/2019 16:48

As well as working near an actual tiara shop (posted on a thread a long way back), I'm also near Jenny Packham's shop in Mayfair.

Today there was a dress in the window that's very like a dress Kate wore back when William had hair... it's absolutely beautiful, the shimmer and fine detail. Good to be able to see it close up.

Ugh yes I agree, that pink is horrible. Always, always looks cheap and unsophisticated.

I think Amal’s hat would look much better if it sat lower.

StCharlotte · 08/07/2019 16:50

beanaseireann

How much older than Diana are the sisters?

BertrandRussell · 08/07/2019 16:58

5 years and 7 years? Something like that?

QueenOfTheAndals · 08/07/2019 17:04

I think Frances lost a baby between Jane and Diana?

I think Amal’s wedding out fit was perfection.
Reminiscent of Bianca Jagger’s iconic suit and hat.
Nothing wrong with the positioning of either hat imho

You’re right @QueenOfTheAndals.
A boy at 11 hours old. Frances actually buried 2 www.scotsman.com/news/uk-news/life-of-luxury-stripped-sparse-by-tragedy-1-535437 Her story was very sad]]

Ninkaninus · 08/07/2019 17:16

It’s not positioned properly IMO but that was probably with a view to being photographed - it’s no good if half your face isn’t showing, so I can why it’s sitting that way. The outfit is gorgeous. But Bianca did the hat better.

hopeishere · 08/07/2019 17:44

Also Amal's trousers needed turned up.

@MissSueFlay that is my favourite of all of Kate's evening dresses!! So glam / elegant.

ShakeYourTailFeathers · 08/07/2019 17:46

I've had shoes like Pippa's - cut your feet to ribbons Grin

Amal looks stunning in that cream trouser outfit

Sometimes the Judges in custody cases have no bloody idea. I'd like to give the Judge who decided where I was to live (when my parents split) a very hard kicking.
I imagine in Frances Shand Kydd's custody case the Judge was an old friend of Diana's father. I imagine Diana would have liked to have given that Judge a slap too.
How happier (most likely) Diana's life could have been if she'd stayed with her Mum.

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 08/07/2019 18:27

Frances’s mum, Diana’s grandmother testified against her own daughter and for her son; the Earl to have custody.
She was a social climbing snob who was one of the QM’s ladies in waiting and conspired to marry Diana; her granddaughter off to the future King if England.
Some people are despicable. No wonder Diana was messed up.

Speaking of Kate’s evening dresses she looked amazing in this bespoke black velvet Alexander McQueen dress. It’s maybe not her style these days but the off the rack version cost nearly £4000 so I think it warrants a rewear! She wore it to the Military Awards in 2011.

I absolutely love that black velvet dress. Actually I'm a total sucker for velvet generally. And Kate generally does nail formal evening wear I think.

Ninkaninus · 08/07/2019 18:51

I adore velvet too and I agree, Kate often looks very glamorous, fabulous and a little bit sexy in evening wear.
