Afternoon everyone,

Protected Species has some pretty loyal fans here on Mumsnet (if you don't believe us, check out this thread from last year), and now they're giving one lucky Mumsnetter the chance to win one of their practical but chic coats.

To enter, we asked Mumsnetters to let us know which jacket on the Protected Species site they'd choose if they were to win and why.

Thanks to everyone who entered - this competition is now closed.

If you missed out this time, never fear - Protected Species are giving Mumsnetters an exclusive discount of 40% off the Waterproof Mac, Waterproof Parka, or Waterproof Commuter. Just enter the code MUMSNET40 at checkout to redeem your discount. Enjoy Grin

(Code not valid for use on the Rain Bomber, Waterproof City Walker or Waterproof Winter Parka. Code expires 18 August 2019.)

Protected Species haven’t paid for this thread, but they are supplying the prize.

Mumsnet carries some affiliate marketing links, so if you buy something through our posts, we may get a small share of the sale (more details here).

I would choose the waterproof commuter in deep burgundy size 10-12. It would look super stylish when worn with heeled boots or I could use it when cycling into work. The collar is beautifully unusual and it just looks really versatile as well as being suitable even for a 50 year old like myself Smile.

MuddlingThrough1724 · 06/07/2019 16:05

I really like the waterproof commuter in black - it has great styling that you can dress up and down and looks both modern, smart and yet comfortable.

PandorasWhiskers · 06/07/2019 16:20

Oh the Mac in red 12/14. I would happily face any amount of rain to swish into school, damp but poised, wearing that! Gorgeous rainy elegance!

amiapropermum · 06/07/2019 17:13

The waterproof city walker in navy - looks like it goes with everything!

bigeegit · 06/07/2019 17:33

The waterproof commuter in deep burgundy, beautiful colour, perfect length. I walk and/or bus everywhere so this would be great!

addle · 06/07/2019 17:45

Waterproof mac in sandstone fawn - astonishing to find a trench coat where all the details are right and it's entirely waterproof. Looks like it would go with everything and last for ever. Beautiful. Though in fact much better articulated in Protected Species own copy.

WillyNilly00 · 06/07/2019 18:36

Definitely the waterproof commuter but it's so hard to pick a colour! It would be so good for me to wear to work when there's forecasted drizzle, something more smart to go over office wear.

H2OH20Everywhere · 06/07/2019 19:17

I'd choose the Waterproof Winter Parka. I live in Skye - we do cold, wet and windy very well here! It would be lovely to have a coat they would keep me warm and dry yet looks stylish, rather than my ski jacket which is the only truly waterproof jacket that I have now.

It seems it only comes in black which is fine with me - it'll go with everything!

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 06/07/2019 20:06

I would wear the Waterproof Mac in a size 16-18 and black all the time in the autumn and spring when taking my son's dog for long walks, and in the winter there would be room in it for me to wear a sweater to keep me warm. And it is smart enough to be an in-town garment when it rins, too.

justbinthefeckinbyebyebox · 06/07/2019 20:50

Waterproof Winter Parka Size 16 - 18

I want to stay warm and dry in the driving rain and wind that is the 4 miles school walk and still look human!!! ☔❄🍃

ShinyMe · 06/07/2019 21:09

I've never heard of this brand and yeah... they don't make my size. Not that I'd be buying jackets at that price - wowsers!

ShinyMe · 06/07/2019 21:10

If you pick me at random (lol) then please pick something and give it to a women's refuge.

SuzCG · 06/07/2019 21:14

Waterproof City Walker - it looks so smart, sort of biker jacket, but practical too!

ibblebibbledibble · 06/07/2019 21:17

Oh fab, I would absolutely love the waterproof Parker in night sky navy. It would be perfect for walking the dog, out walking with the kids, wearing to work. Love the colour too.

PullUpsAreTricky · 06/07/2019 21:22

I would chose the waterproof mac size 12 in the sandstone fawn . I have been after a stylish practial mac forever. The colour would go with my whole wardrobe.

klh99 · 06/07/2019 21:23

I love the waterproof parka in storm dark grey, size ten to twelve. Looks very stylish and I would really like a coat in such an unusual colour.

BookShop · 06/07/2019 21:29

The waterproof winter parka for me. I need something light to keep me warm and dry when walking the dogs in the winter.

Featherbag · 06/07/2019 21:29

I'd LOVE the waterproof Parka in grey! My waterproof coat from last year is a size 20, I'm now a 12 (thanks WW!) and can't afford a new coat at the minute. But if I could, I'd buy this!

MadameJosephine · 06/07/2019 21:29

I’d love the waterproof parka in 16-18. I could layer it up in winter if needed but without it could do for the walk to work in a wet northern autumn too

KondoKonvert · 06/07/2019 21:30

The City Walker in white (16-18). Totally different to anything I own and would dress up a rainy day. Love it!!

Anita87 · 06/07/2019 21:31

The waterproof Commuter (size 10-12 in black) is amazing. I have been looking for a jacket like this for years; elegant but still functional; that's the way forward.

bluebump · 06/07/2019 21:32

I love the waterproof parka in black, it looks very stylish and actually waterproof. The complete opposite of my current festival mac with jungle theme design Grin

nzborn · 06/07/2019 21:36

l would love the waterproof winter parker in size 16-18 l chose this because of the warmth it gives and the protection from the Brittish rain.
Plus I like the way it dips in the back.

Pippster · 06/07/2019 22:02

I’d choose the Waterproof Commuter in Navy. Great cut, smart enough for work

Kazplus2 · 06/07/2019 22:15

I'm loving the waterproof commuter in red. This would be perfect for me in Scotland for the daily office commute. I've lost count of the number of times this year I've been caught out without an umbrella and this is the perfect combination of smart and practice. Fingers crossed.
