I think she looks lovely today.

escapade1234 · 01/07/2019 16:38

Such a boring dress though. Looks like something you’d find in Fatface or Seasalt.

Gooseysgirl · 01/07/2019 16:55

I really don't like Kate's dress at all today. My mum would choose it - she's almost 80. C'mon Kate you can do much better than this!!

The wedding dress neckline is very odd and unflattering, but the back of the dress is gorgeous!

AppleKatie · 01/07/2019 17:08

It’s hard to dress for that kind of engagement though. Any normal person would be in jeans and flats and she can get away with that occasionally but not every time. It’s a MC mum dress (or expensive version of) but that’s the image she is trying to present there so fair enough.

BigGreenOlives · 01/07/2019 17:17

@Spudlet I'll take a photo of it later and post it for you

Thedarklady · 01/07/2019 18:03

Kate's dress is on sale:
www.selfridges.com/GB/en/cat/sandro-square-print-crepe-midi-dress_786-10081-R20649E/?previewAttribute=Green

It's quite 80s, isn't it?
The top part isn't flattering to her chest but it's an appropriate piece for a sunny day.

There's been a lot of mileage and publicity from this garden. I suppose it's for a good cause and that more people get to see it.

It’s a good shape, just the pattern and colours that are bad.

AppleKatie · 01/07/2019 18:08

Just read that job advert for Anne’s office. Looks like an amazing job but no way could you do it in just 37.5 hours a week AND no way in the world would I do it for 30k I’m shocked that that is the salary for such a lot of responsibility for her travel/engagements

LenoVentura · 01/07/2019 18:14

Goosey I like the dress and would wear it for work - I'm 56 Grin. It's a bit frumpy on someone of Kate's age or mine to be honest.

Thedarklady · 01/07/2019 18:37

The BRF don't tend to pay much for staff. I suppose the prestige and status of working for them is supposed to make up for it Grin

Probably looks good on the old CV too 😂

AppleKatie · 01/07/2019 18:52

Yes I guess so. You wouldn’t get much housing wise commutable to the palace for that salary though.

BigGreenOlives · 01/07/2019 18:55

@Spudlet Private Eye article on the Royal Foundation

Note the 15% pension contribution though! That's a damn sight better than mine...

I don't like the wedges on Kate today - they weigh down the whole outfit so she looks 'heavy' (I know that seems ridiculous). This is where cute flats, or something with a nicer heel would have worked for me.

Wetdogloveshubert · 01/07/2019 19:02

Spotted this section on the dress on twitter - I like the button detail. It's very Kate! Twitter

AppleKatie
I too was shocked at the salary offered by Princess Anne for a London based job.
I thought it was appallingly low.
One rule for the royals and another for the plebs who work for them Sad

JaimeBronde · 01/07/2019 19:18

Private Eye generally know their stuff.

Disfordarkchocolate · 01/07/2019 19:37

Unless I read the Private Eye article incorrectly I'm sure we see Catherine in the Sussex's twitter from the Trooping of the Colour and Meghan isn't going to Angola.

Spudlet · 01/07/2019 19:46

Thanks Olives! Interesting... although not totally sure on some of the details, I can believe the overarching theme of the advisors having, erm, advised against the whole Fab Four thing (a possible alternative explanation for the tension on the stage at that event?).

AliasGrape · 01/07/2019 19:47

Kate’s dress is something I would wear, though I’m not particularly stylish and if I’m honest I tend towards the ‘mumsy’ so I don’t think that’s a great endorsement! It’s the right neckline and shape for my big boobs and round tummy, but I think with Kate’s figure I’d choose something different.

I wasn’t mad on Meghan’s black dress at the Invictus thing, didn’t like the belt. She looked happy and comfortable though.

Spudlet · 01/07/2019 19:51

Disfordarkchocolate I just looked at their Insta post. They put four or five photos up, some of the general event. There was a nice one showing all three in the carriage, looking happy. However, the first pic was indeed cropped into H&M only.

Now whether that’s a deliberate snub is another matter, Kate was in the post, and perhaps it was just a funny angle that didn’t work without the cropping. But it can be spun into a snub, and that’s the problem with it.

I’m pretty sure only Harry is going to Angola though - be interesting to see if he does a similar mine walk. Meghan isn’t going there though, afaik.

QueenOfTheAndals · 01/07/2019 19:56

Kate and Camilla have been cropped out of one of the photos but both are present in another one in the same post. And Meghan is only going to South Africa, Harry is off to Malawi and Angola solo.

That job sounds fantastic (I meet all the criteria) but no way would I have that kind of responsibility for £30k. They'll be lucky finding someone suitable with PRINCE / project management / PA type skills in London for that.

IWishIWere · 01/07/2019 20:09

I know it's been announced that Harry will do Angola and Botswana alone, but it seems the suspicion is that he may well take Meghan with him, despite what has been announced - those countries are not part of the official visit as requested by the Foreign Office, so I don't know how they would stop him doing that?

Apparently it’s alleged that Sheik Mohammed has been lobbying the UK government to send Princess Haya back Shock

I hope she’s safe Sad

beanaseireann · 01/07/2019 20:26

Spudlet I saw that.
At least she has some power- her half brother is the King of Jordan.
Does she gave the children with her ?
What is Mary Robinson's position now,?having intervened with the stepdaughter at Haya's request?
I'm watching The Handmaids Tale.
Interesting Sad
