Oh no @Ellapaella, I like your style on the what are you wearing today thread so now I'm conflicted! 😂

I need to replace my Stan Smith's & have been thinking of going for something similar. I'm not convinced by the Fila ones but like these or maybe [[https://www.footlocker.co.uk/en/p/nike-zoom-2k-women-shoes-65508 chunky Nikes]. I'm mid-40s OP, would wear with midi & maxi skirts & dresses maybe cropped trousers. Maybe I am harking back to cheesy quaver days in the 90s ...

Hammondisback · 26/06/2019 11:42

I love them. My 14 year old wears them and looks great. If your usual style is dressed down cool, you’ll look fab! I also think they are on their way out though, as she’s had hers a while, so if you’re concerned about what’s in and out, they won’t last you long, better off going for Air Force One or classic Stan Smiths.

SushiTime · 26/06/2019 11:56

Lol I've just got the balenciaga triple S after searching high and low.

I love them (30yo) but I get a fair bit of grief from family and friends Hmm

TheCatThatDanced · 26/06/2019 12:03

they're horrid - get some Stan Smiths or superga instead

I'm in my 50s and wear trainers like that. I've got some serious platform converse as well Grin.

I

TheCatThatDanced · 26/06/2019 12:06

I've seen a few people (someone who works at the Burberry office near my workplace!) and elsewhere wearing a sort of caged black (like squares) skirt.

Not squares - but the caged is on the bottom half I think. The caged is more semi sheer squares.

I've seen them on people but no idea what to look for in the shops, google is no help. please help me find this skirt!

TheCatThatDanced · 26/06/2019 12:08

please ignore my previous post - wrong place!

Ellapaella · 26/06/2019 12:16

@small2018 go for them if you like them! I feel bad about my comment now, I'm not usually so blunt 😳. They aren't to my taste but I've seen many people wearing them also so they must be catching on!
I think it's because I wore them first time around in the 90's, I had a pair of platform white LA gear pump trainers - just not sure I want to repeat the 90's style personally...

fancynancyclancy · 26/06/2019 17:53

Like orthopaedic shoes for elderly Jetson strippers.

I had these, they were so bad 🤣🤣

schnubbins · 26/06/2019 18:08

I still have a pair from Reebok from the 90's that look like that .I never wore them as I couldn't wear flat shoes for years due to a wonky ankle. That has been operated on and now all I can wear are trainers Maybe I should dig them out?

MitziK · 26/06/2019 18:32

Are you going to be able to keep them looking box fresh? Because white trainers look skanky as hell the moment they pick up a tiny bit of dirt as do Converse or any white shoe.

Where I'm from, white trainers were the 'thing' of people from the next town. Even now millions of years later, if I'm in the next one, all I see are white trainers when I never see the things where I am unless accompanied by light fake ripped jeans, a white cropped top and massive hoop earrings.

I'm not attaching any value judgement to that, it's a difference in style/fashion choices that highlights the different demographics between the two towns.

[kicks knackered grey trailrunning shoes under the settee]

shitpark · 26/06/2019 20:35

These are mostly worn by young teens, and are on their way out I would say. In London, the fashion students, and students in general are actually in black Converse high tops

small2018 · 27/06/2019 09:12

@Ellapaella - I wasn't allowed a pair in the 90s so I want them 😂

OP posts:
Ellapaella · 27/06/2019 10:49

Then you must have them @small2018 Grin

small2018 · 27/06/2019 18:11

I've ordered them in rose pink 😁

Ninkaninus · 27/06/2019 18:18

👍😊🌷 Life’s too short not to have the shoes!

(Unless you are me and already have waaay too many!)

Loubilou09 · 27/06/2019 18:25

I hated them when I first saw them but my daughter looked great in them so I was won over. However, she told me today (she is 16) that they are very last year! Grin now I am not sure if she was just angling for new trainers or whether they are in fact "last year" Wink
