Will I look ridiculous?!

Well I think we'll end up looking back on them like we do white socks with jeans. But here, right now they're fine. If young people choose to wear much the same clothes as their parents then frankly that's their look out.

LizzieSiddal · 25/06/2019 07:42

I don’t like those trainers, but white trainers in general are very “in” this year.
I’m 53 and have a pair which I wear with midi length dresses and wide leg trousers. Whilst in London over the weekend, there were loads of older women wearing them.

Fairylea · 25/06/2019 07:44

It’s fine if you like them but if you’re interested in being “in” as in fashion they’re on the way out. Dd aged 16 and her friends have all binned theirs and wouldn’t be seen dead in them now. It’s all plain white converse / plain white Adidas etc.

ShakespearesFister · 25/06/2019 07:45

I am 45 and have a similar pair. My kids approve (even my DD, who likes to offer "constructive criticism" on my outfits...)

I thought they were for everyone. I'm sure I've seen pics of many fairly mainstream middle-aged people (e. g. Jennifer Aniston) wearing similar.

Floisme · 25/06/2019 07:47

If they've binned perfectly good trainers I hope they're paying for the new ones themselves. I thought young people cared about the environment. Shock

BogglesGoggles · 25/06/2019 07:47

It depends on how you look. If you are slim, blow dried, otherwise stylishly dressed and obviously wearing them ironically, go for it! Otherwise avoid.

Fairylea · 25/06/2019 07:48

@Floisme I meant binned as in got rid of - eBay, stopped wearing them etc

Floisme · 25/06/2019 07:49

Halo but I still hope you made them pay for the new ones!

lottie2888 · 25/06/2019 07:51

@small2018 I love them. My DD has some goldy yellow ones which I borrow.
I think they look great. If you like them get them. ( I'm 43 by the way )
Hush and all the mummy brands will start doing them and everyone will love them soon.
Ps that's not a slight on hush I bloody love that shop.

Eaudear · 25/06/2019 07:53

Someone break it to me gently, will Buffalo boots be back soon?

I've already seen Buffalo style trainers in Topshop and the like. I had a pair in the late nineties/early noughties (they weren't Buffalo I think they were Skechers or something but were the same) and I LOVED them!!!

lottie2888 · 25/06/2019 07:53

@Peitho they are back!!

moonpiggle · 25/06/2019 07:53

Go for it!

mustdrivesoon · 25/06/2019 07:56

Please no. They are ridiculous.

BonitaBonita · 25/06/2019 08:06

I love trainers but they are a v young style. I always think if you wore it the first time you have to avoid it the second.

ilovewelshrarebit123 · 25/06/2019 08:07

My 12 year has those in black, she just about carries them off! Grin

BlueMerchant · 25/06/2019 08:08

Awful. Look like something an old spice girl would wear.

small2018 · 25/06/2019 08:11

I didn't wear them the first time round as I wasn't allowed.

A 24-yr-old girl at work was wearing them with cropped combats and a tight top - reminded me of what I used to look like while I'm standing there in my George at Asda dress trying to cover my tummy!

Floisme · 25/06/2019 08:17

There is nothing in the shops I haven't worn before. What do you suggest I do?

mother63 · 25/06/2019 09:14

I'm a gazillion years older than you and wear what I want (not flesh-revealingShockas such) but chunky shoes/anything else i fancy... who decided that we're not 'supposed' to because of our 'number' - foook thatGrin

LaurieFairyCake · 25/06/2019 09:23

tour bus grannies

Snorted on train GrinGrinGrin

IAmAlwaysLikeThis · 25/06/2019 09:24

They're hideous and if you're trying to look trendy, they're at least a year behind the trend.

small2018 · 25/06/2019 09:28

Hmmm maybe I should stick to my old skool Adidas plimsoles 😂

OP posts:
Alsohuman · 25/06/2019 09:35

I don’t believe your age should have any impact on what you wear. Those trainers are so ugly though.

Toddlerteaplease · 25/06/2019 09:43

I've been looking at them. I'm 37. Decided I couldn't carry them off though do we t for more 'sensible' ones. I'm getting old!

Toddlerteaplease · 25/06/2019 09:59

@Peitho I have seen them
In shops. They are £170!! I loved my buffaloes!!
