Anyone else an Autumn in their colour analysis?

happytobemrsg · 20/06/2019 14:59

I received my colour analysis today & while I haven’t read it properly yet I saw that I’m an autumn!

I must be seriously late to the colour analysis game because all the Mumsnet autumn threads are super old 🙈 so hoping we can start a new one!

Would love to hear tips from fellow Autumns!

I'm an autumn! My top tip would be to buy clothes in your colours whenever you see them, as IME shops seem to predominantly sell cooler toned colours (although I'm sure winters and summers will say the opposite is true!)
I bought a couple of pairs of tan leather shoes - most clothes that go with the shoes are good colours for me. So maybe find a handbag + shoes in your best colours first

SegregateMumBev · 20/06/2019 15:41

Checking in for ideas! I'm about to do a bit of a wardrobe clear out so I'll be ruthless.

Potatopia · 20/06/2019 15:47

Also, keep a pic of your colour palette in your phone for when you go shopping.
I find it easy to remember the classic autumn shades (brown, yellow, orange etc) but tend to forget about other colours like teal that also suit me.

I’ve just realised that my DS is an Autumn too! I’ve been dressing him in the same colours I love - khaki, burgundy - hardly ever in pastels. No wonder he looks so good in them & we sometimes end up matching

I'm an autumn, agree with above buy when you see, sometimes really hard to find the right colours.

Start a Pinterest board, handy for ideas and matching colours.

happytobemrsg · 20/06/2019 20:53

I’ve read my colour analysis properly now...

Im happy to see colours I already gravitate to on the list (perhaps I had some instinct after all).

I’m really excited by the khaki (obvs as it’s my favourite colour), burgundy, teal/petrol blue, mustard/ochre & terracotta. I don’t like wearing browns so will avoid that. A bit daunted about giving up my light grey - I have a lot of grey tops 😳

Right now I’m 29w pregnant so will focus on accessories (I’m a little obsessed with hairbands right now).
I’m thinking of buying this: www.oliverbonas.com/accessories/plisse-green-headband-239319

What do you all think?

I’ve already got some gorgeous tortoiseshell earrings coming my way for my birthday next month (I must have know it would look fabulous with my colouring 😋)

I’ll definitely start a Pinterest board - I found the attached picture which is really helpful.

Anyone found/bought some bits they would recommend??

Maternity wear in autumn colours is even harder to find! This is pretty though, versatile and cheap:

happytobemrsg · 20/06/2019 21:40

@Potatopia it’s impossible!! Everything I’ve got is either black or grey - colours I’m supposed to be avoiding. That’s a nice dress but it’s so slim fitting I’m wondering if it’ll show all my pre-pregnancy lumps & bumps. Already I’m trying to plan what to wear to work tomorrow (it’s casual Friday) & I’m all my clothes seem to be in the wrong colours 🙈

Kettlewell is great for colours by the seasons . Not fashionable though !

PinkOboe · 20/06/2019 21:51

I am! And I really struggle with it which I hear is unusual. My “wow” colours are tan, brick, chocolate but I’m a strictly navy, grey and black person. The upside is I’ve curbed a lifetime spendaholic habit and have bought virtually no clothes for 2 years. Which I guess is a result Confused

TixieLix · 20/06/2019 21:57

I'm autumn too. I buy more navy now as I was told it was less harsh for my complexion than black and it's true. Also creams instead of white. There's plenty of cream/off white tops out at the moment.

BonApp · 20/06/2019 22:05

I’m a Blue Autumn which are “notoriously hard to diagnose” and means there are lots of autumn colours which look dreadful on me. The brighter ones are best I find, though if I’m totally honest I’m not convinced I was “diagnosed” correctly.

I was told navy should only be worn when i need to be authoritative.... apparently marine blue is much better for me.

My consultant told me to shop in spring and autumn as these were the pallettes which are based on yellowy warm tones... as opposed to blue tones in winter and summer.... as a blue autumn I’m totally confused and end up with a shit load of red in my wardrobe because apparently everyone looks good in red.

BonApp · 20/06/2019 22:06

As in go shopping in spring and autumn as “my” colours were more likely to be about then.

happytobemrsg · 20/06/2019 22:39

Was planning on buying one of these waterproof jackets after baby. Which is best for my colouring?? I think I prefer the belted Mac but it doesn’t come in khaki

Difficult to say...there are different types of autumn (blue, warm, pure etc) and some of those colours might look great on some but not all autumns. If you know what type you are, maybe someone could advise? Otherwise order them all and judge once you see them on?

TheRedSquare · 20/06/2019 22:50

@happytobemrsg where did you get your analysis done? Been looking for something to help me as I'm rubbish with what I suit

autumnpie · 20/06/2019 22:51

Hi
I am a blue autumn as well. I had my colours 'done' about 2 years ago and I still think I am finding my way. I am slightly worried that I have embraced colour a bit too much and now look a bit bonkers.

I wish I could find items in the marine navy colour - it seems virtually impossible. Finding business suits in colours that suit and that I like is a challenge and one I haven't sorted yet.

Re the headband - I am not normally a headband wearer but I really like that one. I think the colour is good as well.

I also have ended up buying red tops because red apparently suits everyone. I find it frustrating that most things in shops seem to be in black or white. At the same time, shopping is quick because I can ignore most of the items in a shop.

autumnpie · 20/06/2019 22:58

Re. the jacket- as Potatopia says - it's not possible to say which would be best unfortunately. Did your colour analysis pick out the best or 'wow' colours at all? Mine ranked them and there are some colours in the autumn pallette that I should definitely not wear.

SegregateMumBev · 21/06/2019 06:02

I like the belted mac in that aubergine shade!

I use navy as a base colour that's easy to find, eg trouser suit for work, and goes well with other autumn shades like burgundy, teal, mustard.

Apparentlychilled · 21/06/2019 06:11

I'm an autumn too, and the jewel tones suit me, esp emerald green and real. Tbh I was gutted when she said to avoid black and grey, as that was 90% of my wardrobe. But I'm accessorising a lot and scarves have been a handy way to introduce colour. And slowly editing my wardrobe.

pinegreen · 21/06/2019 07:06

Also a navy. I totally ignore the advice that all autumn colours work together & that you should wear 4 colours per outfit, as I don’t think they do & you end up looking either very matchy matchy or like a pre-school teacher. There is a Facebook group for HOC Autumns that is useful.

I decided on neutrals (navy, cream, olive, tan) for my base pieces & then buy accent pieces in my wow colours (rust, red, olive, forest green, teal). It has made shopping much easier. 2 years on I own no black clothes apart from gym attire!

pinegreen · 21/06/2019 07:07

Also an Autumn not navy...

TheRedSquare · 21/06/2019 07:56

Can someone tell me how you find out what season coloring you are? I've been wanting to find out mine as find clothes shopping so hard as I don't know what I suit!
I tend to go for autumn colours as I like them, I'm not a fan of wearing black near my face...and wear green allllll the time as my fave colour and o think I suit it 🤷🏻‍♀️ but would love to have an analysis done of not too expensive, as guessing you all paid?

happytobemrsg · 21/06/2019 08:04

@TheRedSquare mine was done by Styled by Susie. They can do your analysis online with some good, natural lit photos. Prices start from £30 for their Bronze package. I’m very pleased with mine
