Obviously today's the second day of Ascot but given Kate's outfit yesterday, I felt a My Fair lady tribute was fitting!

I don't think Sophies jumpsuit was that bad really, legs were a bit wide but nothing criminal. I think it was the hat that knocked the balance of the outfit out.

Settlersofcatan · 21/06/2019 13:14

I usually like Kate's clothing but I thought that pale blue ascot dress was one of the ugliest things I have seen her wear. Hated the colour - does nothing for her - horrible fussy top with ridiculous bow. Just hideous. Whoever said it made her look very Lady Mary from Downton was on the money - colourless and severe.

Princess Caroline and Charlotte Casiraghi at a Karl Lagerfeld memorial in Paris

Hmmm not sure about the sheer godets on CC's dress.
But she is the spitting image of her mother!

queenofarles · 21/06/2019 14:40

Fergie’s curtesy is quite Funny Grin
Like she was about to wave to the Queen then thought oh wait it’s the Queen !.

escapade1234 · 21/06/2019 14:46

Ha! Princess Caroline literally looks like a brunette Karl Lagerfeld in that photo 😂

pinkladyapples · 21/06/2019 15:41

HMQ looks fab in pink today.

Mrsmadevans · 21/06/2019 15:44

To me Fergie comes across as a really kind person and a bit of fun. I love the bracelet she has on her right wrist , it has the name Eugenie and the one side and l presume Beatrice the other side. Surely Fergie must be a good Mum because Eugenie is just a lovely girl. l like Fergie's outfit, a bit of a mish mash but colourful and happy, it sums up what she is like l think Smile. Of course this is just my opinion but she's an all round good egg imho Grin.
The Queen looked beautiful , l loved the colour on her , she looks amazing. Must go and look at the rest of the field Grin

Good to see Nicki Chapman looking so well after her illness. Am loving the dragonflies too Smile

TracyBeakerSoYeah · 21/06/2019 16:08

Well I never knew that about Queen Victoria. What a kind & lovely thing for her to do. Though it's an absolute shame it appears to have been 'airbrushed' from history & isn't more widely known. (Is that because of racism or snobbery or both?)

I see Sarah was with Andrew at Ascot. I don't know why those two just don't get on and remarry.

Wetdogloveshubert · 21/06/2019 16:35

Maybe they're just really good friends now? Exes can still get on if they're not forced to see each other's foibles on a daily basis Grin

I'm less inclined to cynicism with the royals (peculiar, I'll admit) so I'm inclined towards the view that the Foundation split is because of likely status changes when HM is no longer with us. Like has been said before, William will become PoW and have a very serious role and expectations. Maybe having completely separate charitable organisations will help keep the 'feel' different between the four, and financially allow differences that don't affect The Crown?

I enjoyed the throwback shot of William in aid of his birthday today. What a shmaltzy feel! Just to set the cat amongst the pigeons, the Sussexes wished a Happy Birthday to the Duke of Cambridge. Maybe they use informal for kids only? Wink

Wetdog what a lovely snap of Prince William, thank you for posting, it seems there is a bit of a backlash on the Sussex Instagram re the formality of the birthday greeting Hmm

IHeartArya · 21/06/2019 17:04

HM looks fabulous

Thanks for lovely photo of PW.

Also I think some of the rumours must be true. Very easy to put to bed with 4 of them being together somewhere looking relaxed. Though may be bit difficult with Meghan on maternity leave. But they could easily have engineered the balcony appearance I think.

SunshineCake · 21/06/2019 17:05

@TraceyBeakerSoYeah - I never knew Queen Victoria adopted a daughter either and look forward to learning all about it in the relevant series of Victoria.

Myimaginarycathasfleas · 21/06/2019 17:32

Re The D&DOY, I suppose if it ain't broke...

Re The Royal Foundation, it was inevitable that when Harry married he would want to pursue his own interests rather than tag along with his older brother and SIL. It's just the speed with which it happened caught everyone off guard, and has led to a rather messy "conscious uncoupling". Ditto the move from Kensington Palace. Once H&M move to the US I think everyone will calm down a bit.

I'm not sure I can get worked up about the tone of the birthday greeting from the Sussexes. Almost anything would have attracted comment the way things are between them.

Whydoesitalwaysdothis · 21/06/2019 18:02

I don’t like what Sarah Ferguson is wearing at all.

BertrandRussell · 21/06/2019 18:04

Didn’t like that curtesy at all- wry odd.

Whydoesitalwaysdothis · 21/06/2019 18:04

It’s Meghan who makes all the posts on the Instagram account so maybe that’s why it was a more formal message.

BertrandRussell · 21/06/2019 18:06

I’m not sure Meghan sits there doing the Instagram stuff herself!

UrsulaPandress · 21/06/2019 18:18

Loved the snippet about William sending the toy to the NZ PMs dd.

QueenOfTheAndals · 21/06/2019 18:31

I'm inclined to believe the birthday greetings for Charlotte and Louis were actually Meghan but today's is a member of their staff, hence the more formal tone. Though "HBD big bro, love from Haz n Megs xx" would've been hilarious! Grin

OP posts:
BertrandRussell · 21/06/2019 18:40

She really can’t win, can she? If the greeting had been all casual and informal it would be her breaking protocol. But because it was formal, it’s her being cold and unfriendly!

Myimaginarycathasfleas · 21/06/2019 18:46

I'll admit I'm useless at Instagram but isn't SussexRoyal's message exactly the same as theroyalfamily one, except without the cake emoji?

MotherofPearl · 21/06/2019 18:52

Leti in one of her long floral numbers. Great shoes. Dress is a tiny bit too long.
