Previous thread

Now that the Orange One has gone, it's almost time for a visit from the Oranje One! Yes, Queen Max will be attending next Monday's Garter ceremony. It'll be a triplicate fashion face-off between her, Letizia and Kate - who will emerge victorious?

The happy family on parade thing has certainly gone in to overdrive it’s lovely to see- and I imagine must also be true because it’d be very hard to fake the smiles consistently that have been printed. Is it strategic as well though I wonder.

Mrsmadevans · 18/06/2019 22:31

I agree Applekatie it's lovely to see them be so affectionate and relaxed together.

IHeartArya · 18/06/2019 22:34

There’s genuine warmth - great to see

User8888888 · 18/06/2019 22:38

I really liked Kate’s outfit on her but only because she is model thin and can pull it off. On most other people it would look horrid. It seems like Beatrice tried to do a similar look but couldn’t pull it off. Her dress was not doing her any favours and made her look much bigger than I’ve seen her. Poor Eugenie seems to be getting better at outfit picking but that dress didn’t photograph well. It might have looked nice on in real life though and the skirt probably felt all swishy and nice.

It still baffles me how Eugenie and Beatrice have such a large budget, access to dressers etc and still get it so wrong so often.

DevonUkelele · 18/06/2019 22:48

Oh god, it's all awful - how disappointing.

Zara's the best of a very bad lot, but she's always at her best at the races (especially Cheltenham 😉).

I like the colour way on Eug - that blue and yellow and shoes. But the rest is just dire, and I agree with you all about its unfortunateness.

Maybe some of them will come again on other days this week, give us all a second chance 🤔.

Oh, also agree that Eugenie is preggers - the expressions and body language in the photos give it away for me.

DevonUkelele · 18/06/2019 22:50

We really need Meg there in some new navy boat-neck Givenchy, just to give the eyes a rest!

escapade1234 · 18/06/2019 23:09

I know it’s a little unfair as she’s so new on the scene but you just can’t look at those photos and imagine Meghan in the mix.

TracyBeakerSoYeah · 18/06/2019 23:19

Frugal Max seems so enamoured of Wax & vice versa, that if Hottie did try anything then she would batter him (obviously with a smile)

I wonder if the people we talk about do ever see/come across these threads & what do they think of our critiques & general musings?
On the whole this is a very nice thread.

From Rebecca English on Twitter:

Some are asking or suggesting the accident was why William and Kate were late for Garter and missed some of the proceedings. No, it wasn’t. They had something on privately that morning, but I can’t disclose what. But it was with the Queen’s approval.

Stravapalava · 18/06/2019 23:37

"The accident"? Have I missed something?

UrsulaPandress · 18/06/2019 23:39

What accident?

I agree I'm not sure how Meghan would have fitted into the vibe today. They all looked so jolly and fond of each other. Something that comes with time and familiarity.

UrsulaPandress · 18/06/2019 23:46

I see. DM headline.

queenofarles · 18/06/2019 23:46

Going to ask this ,seeing how many of you are very knowledgeable about the RF.

I was reading about the Late Gloria Vanderbilt this evening. Allegedly her Mother was romantically linked to a female member of the RF, any idea who it might be?
Also didn’t know her Aunt was a mistress of the prince of Wales ,

AdaColeman · 19/06/2019 00:09

Nadejda Mountbatten, Marchioness of Milford Haven.

That's a cryptic message Smile

alldressedupinblue · 19/06/2019 01:45

Could the prior engagement be something family orientated like Sports day?

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 19/06/2019 04:13

Yes I was thinking it was something to do with George’s school.
Battersea via the Upper Richmond Road (Putney; where the accident was) goes over Hammersmith Bridge and picks up the M4 straight to Windsor.

If W&K were coming straight from KP; they would not be going via South London!

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 19/06/2019 04:17

Emma, Viscountess Weymouth and Lady Kitty Spencer at Ascot

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 19/06/2019 04:21

These are throwback pictures but Felipe and Letizia look glam and affectionate.

BigGreenOlives · 19/06/2019 04:45

@CurlyWurlyTwirly Hammersmith Bridge is closed for the foreseeable future, possibly 3 years.

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 19/06/2019 06:57

Oh I haven’t lived in London for a decade! Maybe he next one along, Chiswick bridge? ( I doubt they would risk the Traffic on Putneyhigh street and over Pufney bridge!);

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 19/06/2019 07:09

Lovely shot of Kate’s dress it looks so «princessy»
I am a sucker for William in morning dress; as long as he is wearing a top hat.

Just to add my two Pennoth to the fashion commentary.
I think Max looked gorgeous in her blush outfit. I think she was trying to be toned down ( by Max standards). Her earrings were stupendous. I felt sorry for Kate. She really needs more diamonds. (Just read that back. I’ve been on these threads too long!)

I really liked the colours of Eugenie’s dress and hat, but the style of the bodice was too severe. You need a flat bosom and toned arms.
The skirt section was lovely. Eugenie and Beatrice need to look at archive photos of HM and Princess Margaret in the 1950s to get the cuts right for their dresses.

Sophie obviously had something custom made, but she looked like she’d gone through a Laura Ashley wallpaper book to choose her fabric.
In a solid colour, the dress would have been fine. ( although a bit boring)

Agree with Max trying to tone down (poor Max!) but doesn’t she look really different with her hair down? She’s such a beautiful woman!

Not sure how poor Sophie was convinced to wear her outfit :(

Think the pregnancy suggestions might be true as they all look ecstatic. Absolutely beautiful shot there Curly

QueenOfTheAndals · 19/06/2019 07:25

@queenofarles That was Nada Milford Haven, Prince Philip's aunt.
