Previous thread

What neon shade will HM wear? Will the DoE attend? Will Kate have a new coat dress? Will Meghan make an appearance? And which of us will be able to identify every random Windsor on the balcony?

All will be revealed tomorrow...

I know Trumps visit is over but I read this on The Royal Family topic & thought I’d share- I don’t remember seeing it on here before

Nice photo of Rania and Abdullah, presumably to celebrate their anniversary. She looks less enhanced than she has for a while and he's better looking now than he was in his youth. He's never been handsome but his face has a nice lived-in quality these days.

Meanwhile, Meghan's handbags are stalking me on IG!!

I should think it is hard for Meghan to follow protocol being American, and perhaps she wants all the pretty dresses too, and their budget/allowance is less than desirable.

beanaseireann · 11/06/2019 08:51

Any other poster having a problem with the photos on the thread?
It started yesterday and has continued today.
The photos don't appear to be downloading.
I've gone on to Sitestuff topic and it seems I'm not alone. Other posters are having a problem too. Sad
I'm missing out on all those lovely fashions you are posting.

Mrsmadevans · 11/06/2019 09:07

Curly l must admit l love the mustard Erdem dress , l really like the Erdem floral dresses , they are so pretty and feminine . In my defense I am very old 😁 so may need new glasses 😁🔍👓🔎

QueenOfTheAndals · 11/06/2019 09:33

Yes, it's very annoying @beanaseireann! I'm sticking to links to photos until it's fixed.

I love Kate's coat dresses! They seem a very appropriate way of dealing with British weather. I do wonder though if there's another dress underneath!

It looks a lot more regal than having your coat hanging open.

And as has been noted, the Queen does reportedly give Kate notes on her clothes. Maybe they get the majestic seal of approval.

pinkground202 · 11/06/2019 10:01

@Mrsmadevans I have a soft spot for the Erdem dresses too, you are not alone! I'd rather them than a pastel coat dress any day. I think Kate looks great in her coat dress uniform, I can see why she likes them and sticks with the formula but I'm all for her being more adventurous with fashion.

I can't see the photos either, hurry up and fix this MNHQ!

roisinagusniamh · 11/06/2019 10:07

Eleanor, I think Meghan follows Royal protocol very well, especially for a non British person.
I would never courtesy to anyone regardless of what family I married into.( I am not a subject because I am from the Rep of Ireland )
Then again, nor would my DH and he's British.

Becles · 11/06/2019 10:14

Do you have any examples when she's failed to follow protocol (as opposed to not wearing the same shade of nail polish worn by someone of a different race 60 years her senior?)

QueenOfTheAndals · 11/06/2019 10:14

Tatler have done a royal wedding dress retrospective. I have to say that Wallis Simpson had her faults but style was not one of them. She was the epitome of chic on her wedding day.

QueenOfTheAndals · 11/06/2019 10:17

@Becles maybe it was the much-derided banana writing but it resulted in more donations than ever before for the charity in question so...

I still find it hard to believe that the queen is taking people aside on a regular basis. And even harder to believe that this information is getting out into the public. we hear SOOOO little about the queen outside of the formal stuff - the odd tidbit about her love of tupperware or doing the washing up on a picnic - and that's it, and yet every time she supposedly has "a word" with Kate or Meghan it's all over the press? Nope, I'm not buying it.

www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-39316473 The evening dress she wore in Paris is one of my favourites. Not because of the dress itself, but because I think that photo, dress, styling etc was the one where she most looked like a Princess. My inner 5 year old just did a little happy dance when I saw the pictures.

I loved her tweed number at the V&A and that was probably one of my all time favourites of her outfits.

Meghan's green leather skirt remains my favourite I think. But I loved the Armani suit just before they got married at that awards ceremony too.

BlingLoving · 11/06/2019 10:22

Just looked at the wedding dress thing - I love Princess Anne's dress. I've secretly always liked the idea of a winter wedding with a cape (got married practically on the beach in the height of summer in the end).

QueenOfTheAndals · 11/06/2019 10:30

@BlingLoving that gown was lovely but I really don't think ice blue is her colour. Now dark green or a brighter blue...

OP posts:
QueenOfTheAndals · 11/06/2019 10:32

Link to the green dress didn't work whatkatewore.com/2017/03/28/a-new-lace-gown-for-the-duchess-at-portrait-gallery-gala/

@queenoftheandals - I agree actually. I'm not even that much of a fan of the dress itself. It's more just the overall vibe and massive "PRINCESSYNESS" of it that I loved. Grin The V&A Tweed is my ultimate favourite.

I didn't like the blue one above in itself, but thought it suited her beautifully. Appropriate and just a little bit sexy.

I also usually love her wimbledon outfits. She always looks so fresh and perky (and seems to cut her hair, which I love).

QueenOfTheAndals · 11/06/2019 10:59

Last year's yellow Wimbledon dress was fab, as was the polka dot one from a few years ago. She always looks to be having a wonderful time too - must be great when duty and hobby collide! I bet the AELTC is counting down the days til the Duke of Kent retires and Kate can present the trophies.

OP posts:
BlingLoving · 11/06/2019 11:00

@queenoftheandals - I loved the white one with the flowers around the hem. Especially as 2 year old DD (at the time) had a very similar dress! Grin but I don't think she's ever got it wrong at Wimbledon.

Myimaginarycathasfleas · 11/06/2019 11:17

I don't think anyone said Meghan hadn't followed protocol, just that it might be hard for her. Really, some very snippy posts creeping into this thread which has been so civilised. Is it the weather?

Paradyning · 11/06/2019 11:19

I've noticed that too!
This is a fluffy thread. No snippiness purlease

roisinagusniamh · 11/06/2019 11:31

It's not hard foir her at all.
No snippness intended!

QueenOfTheAndals · 11/06/2019 11:36

Kate is arriving in Keswick shortly. If she's wearing a flat cap then we'll know she's been watching this thread!

Really? Her pregnancy budget seems quite nice indeed.

Myimaginarycathasfleas · 11/06/2019 11:42

None taken from your post, @roisinagusniamh! But there have been a couple of times when an innocent comment has been responded to quite sharply with demands for evidence and examples. I'd like to think we can exchange views here without the Spanish Inquisition. Because as we all know....
