Previous thread

What neon shade will HM wear? Will the DoE attend? Will Kate have a new coat dress? Will Meghan make an appearance? And which of us will be able to identify every random Windsor on the balcony?

All will be revealed tomorrow...

Lady Fermoy gave evidence against her own daughter didn’t she, in her custody battle against Diana’s father who IIRC was abusive? I’d take pretty much anything she said with a pinch of salt!

latedecember1963 · 10/06/2019 07:08

Looking at the pictures of Diana in her sweaters reminds me that her wearing jeans was regarded as very daring the first few times she did it.
Goodness knows what the Daily Mail of 35 years ago would have made of Kate's skinny jeans!

8misskitty8 · 10/06/2019 07:47

I doubt Kate will get more countryside/outdoor as she is allergic to horses. So even if the children get horses we are unlikely to see photos of the whole family on horseback etc.

Spudlet · 10/06/2019 07:49

Perhaps Meghan and Harry we're getting Archie settled so missed seeing HMQ before it all got started. It's quite possibly the first time Meghan has left him, he's still so little. I would have been trying to minimise the time I spent away when DS was that age for sure. So I'm not reading too much into that - just logistics, imo.

QueenOfTheAndals · 10/06/2019 07:58

@IHeartArya Yes she did. There were rumours that Johnny Spencer used to hit Frances but in the end it was she who got divorced for adultery. Not sure her second marriage brought her that much happiness either as her husband left her for a younger woman.

In googling all this I found further proof of my theory that all the aristocracy is connected in some way - her second husband's brother was married to Lady Lucan's sister!

I think Archie was in the room behind them- that’s why they were standing at the back like that.

QueenOfTheAndals · 10/06/2019 08:40

Lovely pic @EleanorReally, I'm always amazed that anyone can ride side saddle!

Some men say the funniest things...on looking at the pics of trooping the colour in the paper, my DH said why's that new one(meghan) dressed like an air hostess, she's got one of their hats and the shoulder thingies! Well that was a perspective i hadn't seen!!😂😂

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 10/06/2019 09:04

I think William did have an affair.
I think Harry is really annoyed that he did. William doesn't appreciate being told how he can behave and that is the real cause of the coolness between them.
Kate will put up with anything for her royal life and for the children. It wasn't an equal marriage and both of them know that.

I agree with what @SlipperOrchid said

Also Harry has been his usual laughing self in all his engagements since Archie was born. Then at TtheC he hasn’t cracked a smile apart from in the carriage with Meghan and Kate.

I think Harry is f*ed off for many reasons.
William having an affair in the first place
Cheating on Kate why Harry gets on v well with
Meghan getting the flak for the rift

I also think Rose Hanbury’s appearance at the State dinner was significant. No jewellery especially wedding ring. Very plain ( albeit pretty dress). Walking in with a DM journalist
I think that was her warning shot back to William and Kate

I wonder if there will be a 4th baby?
William and Kate looked genuinely proud of Louis.
Even if Harry hasn’t forgiven William; Kate has obviously decided to move on.

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 10/06/2019 09:08

Diana did love a jumper!

This one was probably worth millions in advertising to Richard Branson

IHeartArya · 10/06/2019 09:09

Thing is no one really knows what goes on behind closed doors, except possibly the servants- which isn’t a problem most of us have. It could be a myriad of reasons. But pp are right. Harry looked relaxed in the carriage but not on the balcony. Could have been something simple like Archie was crying & he wanted to get back to him ASAP!

Spudlet · 10/06/2019 09:09

Side-saddle is a fairly easy way to ride Queen - you aren't perched there by balance, under those skirts the saddle has a pair of horns called pommels. Your bottom leg sits underneath one that curves downwards, with the foot in a stirrup, and the top leg hooks over one that curves upwards, so you can grip with your thighs. It's different but not as challenging as it might appear - the biggest danger is that it's more difficult to fall off so you can get squashed rather than being thrown free - and of course there are two nice sticky out bits on the saddle to really bugger you up if that happens. But just riding relatively gently is fine - it's things like hunting that could be a bit dodgy.

lyralalala · 10/06/2019 09:10

Walking in with a DM journalist

That wouldn’t have been her choice though. That’s all done in order of protocol and seating. She was walking in with Michael Gove’s wife, she just happens to be a DM

I think it’s quite telling that William and Harry were on opposite sides of the Queen. Usually the family groups are all together in little bunches, yet Charles’ were split.

I think the wedding ring thing might be the thing that sees Rose cast out completely if it was deliberate as a dig. The aristos don’t mind affairs at all, but you don’t advertise them. And any friends and acquaintances are going to want to keep the RF onside

SlipperOrchid · 10/06/2019 09:16

Isn’t being allergic to something the standard way of not doing something without having loads of questioning thrown at you?

I doubt very much that she is allergic to horses. I think she can’t ride which is fine for anyone other than being a member of the RF!

EleanorReally · 10/06/2019 09:18

Pretty sure William and Harry were on opposite sides on the last balcony appearance werent they?

EleanorReally · 10/06/2019 09:19

No I am wrong

queenofarles · 10/06/2019 09:22

Rubbish, not the affair thing we would never know, but Harry being mad, is Harry now some sort of saint? What guarantees are there he won’t follow his brother’s footsteps and have an affair?

beanaseireann · 10/06/2019 09:24

I think SlipperOrchid and CurlyWurlyTwirly might be right.
Which is such a shame.
If it's true, I'm so disappointed with William. Sad
Rose walking in with Sarah Vine Shock
Is that a shot across her bow ?
Don't mess with me. I'm in with the DM! ?
I don't believe it was "protocol"
Wasn't Rose sitting with Prince Harry previously at a state banquet ?
Sarah Vine would be down the pecking order.
In my eyes all people are equal but the same can not be said for state banquet etiquette.

itswinetime · 10/06/2019 09:28

I agree with this! There is a rift with William and Harry I don't know what caused it possibly many things possibly but I don't think it's the affair. Not that William didn't have one, he might of but Harry even if he was pissed off over that showing it so publicly draws attention to the situation which only goes to make things more awkward for Kate who is the one he is angry for. It makes no sense to me.?

Spudlet · 10/06/2019 09:30

Diana couldn't ride - James Hewitt was giving her lessons, I believe.

Kate might be allergic - there was a girl in our uni riding club who was (although it obviously didn't stop her riding!). Maybe she's just not fussed?

BertrandRussell · 10/06/2019 09:31

Didn’t Sarah Vine walk in with Michael Gove

derxa · 10/06/2019 09:37

is Harry now some sort of saint? No.
