Previous thread

What neon shade will HM wear? Will the DoE attend? Will Kate have a new coat dress? Will Meghan make an appearance? And which of us will be able to identify every random Windsor on the balcony?

All will be revealed tomorrow...

Louis is completely gorgeous. Meghan looked good but with the tiredness of a new mother a few weeks in. Reminds me how tough it was on Kate that the long day and night of H and M's wedding was only 3 weeks after Louis' birth.

pinkground202 · 08/06/2019 22:15

James Ogilvy was very handsome in his youth, Alexander looks very like him but blond.

My favourite from a fashion point of view is Serena Linley, very stylish dresser but the Snowden's keep a pretty low profile these days sadly.

I missed Sarah Chatto today, I love her outfits which often have a nod to the 50s.

QueenOfTheAndals · 08/06/2019 22:22

@pinkground202 He still is!

Hmm, he has aged well @QueenOfTheAndals !

IHeartArya · 08/06/2019 22:36

Just finished watching it all. Love that Kate & Meghan were in the same carriage & interacting well.

Meghan looked way better than I did that soon after I’d had my births.

Camilla looked a little tired to me today?

Loved most of the outfits.

The more I look at the balcony photos I think William purposely steered his family to stand in front of that pillar so that they weren't surrounded by the throng of family members.

The more I look at the balcony photos I think William purposely steered his family to stand in front of that pillar so that they weren't surrounded by the throng of family members.

I think he steered them to a gap where the kids could see and been seen which in fairness is what people want we all wanted to see Louis first balcony it would have been a bit of a shame if he was lost in the big group. The whole thing just seemed messy. They could come out earlier have more time to get into position but they leave it and rush and then it's like grab a spot big rush it's silly. And now that the queens grand children are married with their own children there are too many people they need to cut the numbers down and give themselves more tome to come out.

Zara and Mike Tindall not there. Pity since they're my favs.

itswinetime · 08/06/2019 22:52

I think it's quiet rare Zara and mike are there or maybe they stay inside at the free bar and canapés that's what I would do Wink

UrsulaPandress · 08/06/2019 23:15

I bet the canapés are fab.

MotherofPearl · 08/06/2019 23:27

Charlotte Casiraghi looking chic in a LBD. Her posture is not good though. Who is it on here who has a thing about deportment? Charlotte must surely be on your blacklist? Grin

Zara is in Yorkshire competing at Bramham Horse Trials this weekend.

UrsulaPandress · 08/06/2019 23:35

Damn I knew I was meant to be somewhere.

AnnaComnena · 09/06/2019 00:33

It was a bleak day for the BBC too. Fern Cotton was given a key commentary role, referring at least once to the Queen as Her Royal Highness.

I remember that. She, or someone, did it again at another event around then. The whole BBC commentary at the regatta was dreadful - no information about the boats or crews taking part. It was slated at the time, iirc.

And another juniper event, a military parade at Windsor, I had to stop watching because the commentator would not bloody shut up. I want to hear the band, not some BBC plonker.

They all talk too much, but Huw Edwards is better than some. None of them come close to Richard Dimbleby, though.

AnnaComnena · 09/06/2019 00:56

Jubilee, not juniper! I swear autocorrect has a mind of its own sometimes!

Mail has picked up on Rose's missing wedding ring:

Facebook....

SenecaFalls · 09/06/2019 02:17

US commentators sometimes get titles wrong and refer to the Queen as Her Royal Highness instead of Her Majesty, but you would certainly expect commentators in the UK to get it right.I wonder if they think Her Royal Highness is a bigger title because it has more words in it. Of course the ancient form in Scotland is Her Grace.

lyralalala · 09/06/2019 02:56

I think the balcony was particularly packed as the Kent’s and Gloucester’s won’t be as involved when the Queen is no longer around. So they’ll all be there for the next few and then it’ll be smaller.

I also think that’s why the Queen has made Andrew a Colonel - imo it’s a very clear signal that she does not want the royal events like stripping shrunk too much.

I think it’s a shame the Duke of Kent didn’t travel in the carriage with the Queen. I think he was the appropriate person to sit with her on the dais (as a royal colonel no longer riding) in the absence of Prince Philip, but as he didn’t travel with her this year or last she must just think it better to travel alone. Maybe she enjoys the relative peace!

Paradyning · 09/06/2019 04:00

Got it @WhatIfIHadnt

IHeartArya · 09/06/2019 06:07

Think you may be right lyralala if the Queen had wanted company, she’d could easily have had Edward or Duke of Kent with her. Good point about why she may have appointed Andrew as a Royal Colonel.

Myimaginarycathasfleas · 09/06/2019 06:15

That's me, @MotherofPearl! I'm going to give her a pass though and put it down to a bad camera angle.Grin

mathanxiety · 09/06/2019 06:45

Looking at old photos of Trooping The Colour balcony appearances, I’ve spotted an older gent in uniform that I can’t place. He is in photo 56 (1986) in the above link
A wild guess here, but is it the 7th Earl of Harewood, George Lascelles?

QueenOfTheAndals · 09/06/2019 06:56

I don't think it's Harewood. He looks vaguely familiar but I can't place him!

Looking back at those photos of Meghan she looks blissfully content. A lot less make up, no looking for the camera, or turning to Harry for reassurance. As though she's found herself, iyswim. Lovely.
