heating not hearing!

twosoups1972 · 13/06/2019 22:20

@dontcallmelen have a safe trip and a lovely holiday. Hope you manage to get a bit of shopping in. Enjoy the sun!

twosoups1972 · 13/06/2019 22:21

Hi @Soy hope your house is back to how you like it now. I did pilates too this morning, Thursday morning is pilates day with my lovely friend who qualified as an instructor a few years ago.

twosoups1972 · 13/06/2019 22:24

Oooh @SoyYo on the subject of CG, I finally managed to get an appointment for dd3 with a specialist hairdresser from the map you kindly sent me. It's at the end of July. I really feel for dd - she's hating her hair at the moment. The more she reads about CG, the fussier she gets about her own hair! I have pointed out that it's much better, the frizz has pretty much gone (other than when it rains!) and the condition is better. But she hates it. And being a self-conscious pre-teen girl does not help. I know she longs for straight silky hair. I'm hoping in time she'll get to like it a bit more.

SoyYo · 13/06/2019 22:32

Oh @soups you’ve touched my heart. I used to long for straight swishy hair all of my childhood into my late teens 😥 I remember as a wee girl I used to wear a towel on my head (like a shroud Grin) and go around pretending I had long straight hair...
As to CG cuts she’ll feel a LOT better once a stylist who knows the curl by curl cut method gives her a good trim, makes a Huge difference I promise! And as a bonus they totally love waves and curls so it’ll do her confidence the world of good.

As to finding an appointment I’m in the very same quandary right now! Desperately need a trim but the stylists I’ve used before are all booked up months in advance!Angry
So I’m off to look at that map and look for alternatives...a curly girls journey is certainly character building!

SoyYo · 13/06/2019 22:41

Images of sleek hair as the beauty standard we should all aspire to are everywhere. Even celebrities who are naturally very curly don’t allow their natural curls: eg Meghan Markle, Nicole Kidman, Salma Hayek even Sarah JP abandoned her curls!! Sad

Ellapaella · 13/06/2019 22:47

I've never been able to shorten the username when I tag people so that's not new for me but I'm losing all threads I'm on and watching and having to search for them by my username. I give up. It's been really shite and glitchy for the last 3-4 days.
DS has his interview for his new college course tomorrow, am hoping it goes well for him.
Poor doggy is all sorry for herself after her op. she can't do usual walks so she's been sleeping and resting most of the day. She's turned her nose up at her usual food but happily wolfed down all the chicken I cooked for her. Think she's getting used to being pampered!

Ellapaella · 13/06/2019 22:51

@SoyYo and @twosoups1972 my niece (my sisters girl) has beautiful Afro hair but is always asking when she can have straight hair like all the other girls in her class (she's 7). It's such a shame as her hair is gorgeous and I wish she'd realise how lovely it was.

neveradullmoment99 · 13/06/2019 23:07

I am on my laptop so haven't had any glitches. I don't use the android app for mumsnet as I hate it. I just google it on my phone and its much easier for me to navigate. I don't find the @username that useful as it doesn't come up with everyone and I spend longer finding people. I think I will just ignore it! Also I keep getting emails to say that someone had commented on threads I have posted on because now everyone is using their proper username!!!

neveradullmoment99 · 13/06/2019 23:10

I can turn that off though and its not really an issue.

Laska2Meryls · 14/06/2019 07:16

I've no idea how to use @someone's name , so that's ok. Will just stick to name (can only just use my virtual keyboard as it is !, I always look like I can't spell typing here anyway !)

I am getting a bit obsessed with the idea of ordering the Toast Anda Dhuggie .

I think I may have a clothes problem ! ....

Laska2Meryls · 14/06/2019 07:16

Oh .. So that's how It works ..

GinandGingerBeer · 14/06/2019 09:37

Morning. Another bloody miserable day SadBoo.
I'm off work today as I worked monday, my usual non working day. I'm itching to go spending £££ Grin
I've not really been doing cg as such @soy. I have been using sls free shampoo and conditioner as I always do but I don't think all my after products are CG compatible (lee Stafford mousse) I think Davines is sls free though. Love their stuff smells devine.
Mousse is nearly done with so I shall replace with an sls free one. I try to only shampoo twice or three times a week max and use colab dry shampoo in between.
My hairdresser is getting frustrated with me I think Smile (not really she's a good friend but rolls her eyes as I get bored easily with my hair, had it all lopped off into a pixi 2 years ago loved it but have grown it back) I want to have my hair balayaged but it's got shed loads of built up dark red colour on it and will be a pita to lighten and take a lot of visits.
Going next week for stage 1. Excited!

ilovecherries · 14/06/2019 09:40

Morning everyone. How are you all today? Hoping len is winging towards 🌞. never, hope your dress is fine after a wash.

I’m just getting ready to go home to collect van. Tried to look dispassionately at my chest today and it is def fair to say I have wonky tits :). Still love them though. Going to just try and put it out of my mind and hope a miracle happens and they sort themselves out before I go back.

Wow @SoyYo I didn't know all those celebrities abandoned their curls! When I look at the CG group on FB, some people's hair looks amazing. Sometimes I'd like proper curly hair myself! I suppose what it is though, if you're curly, it needs time and attention and it's harder to make it look nice.

@Ellapaella sorry to hear about your niece, I bet her hair is gorgeous.

twosoups1972 · 14/06/2019 10:06

And also with dd, the autism makes it so much worse. Dd sees things very black and white and has no patience. She also wants me to solve problems instantly or it's all my fault.

@SoyYo the hairdresser we are seeing is in North London. She only works on Fridays so I just booked the first one available at the end of July after dd breaks up from school.

SoyYo · 14/06/2019 10:14

Morning! @cherries you will have amazing boobs after all this ordeal and glad you’re being positive about the next challenge/relatively smaller procedure.

never I use MN just like you on my iPhone internet browser. Hope your dress was fine after the wash.

ella your poor dog! Hope she’s feeling a bit brighter and yy on curly kids. Was the same as your niece when I was little, wanted straight hair like all my friends.
Yet it was only in my late teens when I finally allowed myself to go “natural” that I started getting compliments on my hair. I had masses of curls then (its thinned a lot since then/lovely menopause Angry) and strangers would often ask me where I got it peeled and two of the top Cambridge hair salons asked me to be a hair model (I refused Wink).
What you need to remember with curly hair is to treat it kindly and basically don’t expect it to look the same ever! Grin Some frizz just goes with the territory too and you learn to accept some days will be better than others depending on wash/styling products/weather/humidity and the will of the Hair Gods Grin

Gin sounds exciting! I can recommend Pantene no 5 mousse as CG friendly if you prefer mousse to styling gels or creams.

laska did you cook that amazing Spanish chicken recipe? I’m still on the diet btw Sad with DH but not so strictly as before (ie not 800 cals/day and during the hols plenty of wine was imbibed). I’ve lost around 5kg which I’m pleased about and aiming for a further 2kg over the next month.

SoyYo · 14/06/2019 10:17

NOT peeled but permed Grin

soups I think once Dd has a proper curly cut and her stylist explains what to do she will start feeling better about it. Hang in there!

twosoups1972 · 14/06/2019 10:26

Thank you @Soy x

neveradullmoment99 · 14/06/2019 10:30

@cherries, fortunately the stain came out with the old faithful tip of fairy liquid neat on the stain. Its hanging up on a hanger and looking good so far.
Linen dungarees came.Mmmmm….not sure.First impressions, love them but the medium are big and the crotch is literally to my knees making me look like a giant toddler with a sodden nappy between my knees!
The small look nice from the front but a little neat across my tummy and give me a pouch. I do love them though. I think the problem is what I suspected with the straps. They don't adjust and are geared for someone taller. Anyway, I have taken a photo so you can see.

neveradullmoment99 · 14/06/2019 10:35

An unflattering of e of the old tum. I have tummy pants ( comfy ones on) so its the best its going to get although i am doing exercises.

Buy the dhuggie laska, buy the dhuggie. Will be great as a holiday kaftan or with the jacket. Buy the duuggie

Sorry, can anyone else hear a buzzing sound in here?

Grin

I've not worked out how to do the @ thing either. Though when I just did that everyone's name came up, so that probably answers the question!! That is definitely new. I'm never sure what the etiquette is though.. it feels as if you're summoning someone by using their full name, and nothing I ever say is worth summoning someone for!! Grin

Hope len is on her plane armed with both kettle and sandals!

ella awwwww poor doggie. Though I think there may be a certain amount of playing to the gallery going on? "oh, poor ill me, I can hardly move, oh no, I couldn't eat that... Chicken you say, well i'll just try a morsel..." 🐕 Good luck and fingers crossed for DS too.

soy yup, still freezing here too. Must be a shock to the system especially for you having had a fortnight of sun! Well done on maintaining the diet though... that is an impressive loss! And good luck on finding the hairdresser (and also to gin and soups... It sounds like a lot of hard work! )

never Hope you sorted the stain on the dress. That is EXACTLY the kind of think I do Blush.

cherries you do sound very positive on the boobs! Good for you. I think everyone is slightly wonky, but not "in error", so yy, if you can get it fixed definitely go for it.

NotAnActualSheep · 14/06/2019 10:54

God, I type so slowly, I didn't see your response on the dress stain never! I think the dungarees look great on you. Don't look too tummy-y at all! Though you did say they would have to be perfect, and if the strap length is going to annoy you that may put me off. It would be easy enough to get someone to fix, though that would be an extra expense. They do look gorgeous, and being linen rather than denim, a bit different too. Fwiw, I have a jumpsuit in a small too, and I'm bigger than you...the medium looked rather odd indeed! Though toast sizing is definitely, shall we say, variable...

neveradullmoment99 · 14/06/2019 11:02

No worries @not. I was away making some breakfast as I was starving! Thanks for the thumbs up. Toast sizing is just stupid! I was considering the Lydia ones [jersey] before these came on the Toast website but I do think they look more shapeless and more infantile so have hesitated!! They were also OOS in the washed black and didn't really want them in the blue. What do you think of the Lydia jersey ones?
