Perhaps he's holding her hand Smile!

Thank you QueenoftheAndals for reposting CurlyWurlyTwirlys photograph.

Some of you could enter Mastermind and your chosen subject would be the Royal Family.
You'd ace it!

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 19/05/2019 11:52

ALL my questions are about Queen Sofia- the mantilla(?) and is she holding Felipe's hand?!

Mantilla: traditional Spanish dress
The hand holding: Letizia posts Aibu? The day after her wedding

frugalkitty · 19/05/2019 12:10

bean my specialist subject for French A level was Monaco and it's royal family Grin

Nogravyforyou · 19/05/2019 12:18

Freddie Windsor was holding his mothers hand in his wedding photos that someone posted earlier as well.

banivani · 19/05/2019 12:47

Oh my you gossipy creatures, I just sat down in front of the telly and caught ten minutes of a programme right up your alley, about Queen Sonia of Norway’s childhood home. It’s been moved and restored into some sort of a museum. She talks really candidly about growing up, “dating” the crown prince, her mother who was really supportive and also the family tragedy of an older brother who died as a child in a boat accident (it exploded Sad ). She has tears in her eyes half the time. Lots of private footage of her as a baby and so on. It’s on svt play and I think available internationally because we’re not stingy bastards over here but the language is an issue of course ...

Haha! I’m sure I read somewhere that Sophie Winkleman said her MIL organised their entire wedding. I wonder if she chose the rather underwhelming dress, too Grin

SenecaFalls · 19/05/2019 12:48

Evidently, Princess Mary remained close to her brother the Duke of Windsor after the abdication, the only blood family member to do so.

The wedding invitation is interesting to me. In the US, those following traditional etiquette would use "pleasure of your company" only if the wedding is not in a church or other house of worship. If in a church the wording is "honour of your presence," also the only time we spell honor as honour.

SenecaFalls · 19/05/2019 12:53

Those Spanish royal weddings are really good for people watching and for pageantry. I think they are all available on YouTube; I know Felipe and Leti's is. In one of them you can see Prince Charles bowing to former King Constantine. I found that very interesting. I suppose they see it as once-a-king-always-a-king.

QueenOfTheAndals · 19/05/2019 13:38

It wouldn't surprise me @Haworthia. PMoK herself looked magnificent at Freddie's wedding though!

This is the best image I’ve seen of Ella's wedding dress.
You can really see the detail on the hem, which is the prettiest part.
I think for a big wedding like hers, a more graphic shape and bigger detail would have been more effective.

ElspethFlashman · 19/05/2019 13:51

Well she's obviously a very traditional classic person. Cos that dress is fairly generic. That doesn't mean it's not lovely, she's beautiful and looked beautiful in it. But it's not very memorable.

But I guess she really just wanted to look timeless.

alldressedupinblue · 19/05/2019 14:34

@LadyCassandra

Any gossip from your parents from inside the wedding? Thanks for sharing if so!

alldressedupinblue · 19/05/2019 14:36

Yesterday's Danish royal wedding.

As this is the bride's second marriage, her Aunt the Queen and cousin the CP didn't attend.

yellowalstroemeria · 19/05/2019 14:40

Oh blimey, not sure on the see through look- although it is lovely from far away. Like the pink in the flowers.

alldressedupinblue · 19/05/2019 14:40

Gabriella had FOUR wedding dresses:

SenecaFalls · 19/05/2019 14:56

So there was an evening reception as well? Wasn't there some reporting to the effect that they weren't going to be allowed to have an evening do because it would keep little Archie awake or some such palaver?

Paradyning · 19/05/2019 15:04

I bet Meghan went to the evening do. And nipped back to feed!

Hope we see pics of the other 3 dresses.

The back of the Danish dress is lovely

Paradyning · 19/05/2019 15:09

Her dress from her first wedding is a bit odd. I kind of like it then the double layer at the bottom ruins it.

alldressedupinblue · 19/05/2019 15:36

@Paradyning That was a big wedding, wasn't it? Several queens in attendance.

TracyBeakerSoYeah · 19/05/2019 15:37

Four dresses Shock
I thought just having your wedding dress & another dress/outfit for the evening reception/party was enough.

Paradyning · 19/05/2019 15:45

Yes it must be mad to have 2 queens as your aunties. (Although an ex-Queen as one!)

QueenOfTheAndals · 19/05/2019 15:49

Who's the Danish bride and why is she marrying one of the guys from ABBA??

OP posts:
QueenOfTheAndals · 19/05/2019 15:51

@SenecaFalls That was clearly a load of tabloid bollocks and I'm surprised people fall for it!

OP posts:
Ninkaninus · 19/05/2019 16:07

The danish bride is Alexandra, the daughter of the queens sister, Princess Benedikte.

If the Queen didn’t attend I don’t think it’s because it’s Alexandra’s second marriage Hmm - danish media says it was a secret, small, intimate weeding, only around 30 people there.

Paradyning · 19/05/2019 16:08

It's Princess Alexandra, daughter of Princess Benedicte I think.
I thought the room was her dad!
