Imagine if William chose to give it all up for him and his children felt the same? The tabloids would spontaneously combust at Queen Meghan!

I think one of Harry's names is David? Which I find quite amusing considering the last member of the family with that name!

I think he is Henry Albert David Charles ... though happy to be corrected. William is William Arthur Philip Louis (after Charles' great-unc, and before his two sons - that's quite the influence on the generations)

CoverYourEarsTeam · 24/04/2019 13:17

Whoops - Henry Charles Albert David.

ElspethFlashman · 24/04/2019 13:29

No Bling it's about the language used. That they are breaking their maternity leave. My point is that they're not. If I had to go to an occasion 3 months in, I wouldn't consider it to be breaking my maternity leave at all, tbh. Particularly if the baby was with me the whole time.

Realistically the amount of actual work they have maternity leave from is highly variable anyway.

It would have been better to just left no statement at all.

justasking111 · 24/04/2019 13:31

William and Kate lived near us whilst he was a helicopter pilot, the team and he were much valued. Sometimes a road transport vehicle is not the best way forward. It does make me angry when people on here demean what the helicopter service which William was part of means to many people. I am sorry he could not carry on doing this. the Prince of Wales has suffered from the twiddling thumbs perception for decades. I daresay the same accusations will be made against William when Charles is king.

Let Harry and Meghan do good worldwide rather than trudging around the UK doing worthy things. Princess Anne and Prince Edward fill that role admirably.

frugalkitty · 24/04/2019 13:52

I'm not sure William needs to find something to be passionate about.....given his 'job' is to be royal and king one day, frankly he just needs to get on with it. I'm forever telling my teenagers that most people go through life in jobs that they may not even like, it's a bonus if you work in a job/career that you like/live/have a passion for. It's not like he's got a mortgage to pay, or know he'll get clobbered when his kids go to uni so he needs to buck up and knuckle down. Same with the idea of the royal ladies going on maternity leave, it's not like they're holding down two jobs and needing to go back to keep a roof over their heads.

QueenOfTheAndals · 24/04/2019 13:58

Was it an actual statement though @ElspethFlashman? Looks to me that it was just another mysterious "source" who spoke to the Sun? It's getting to the point where if it's not from BP or KP I don't believe it!

For the sake of his mental health I suspect that he does, just like most of us. Life would be pretty miserable if you had a job you didn't like, had to live somewhere where you didn't want to live and couldn't have hobbies like the rest of us - he can't just go out and play darts in the local pub league or go shopping in Games Workshop with his best mates or pop for a round of golf at the local club.

AdaColeman · 24/04/2019 14:05

William has stated that bringing a "just and lasting peace" to the Middle East will be his life's mission. So he has already found something to be passionate about.

justasking111 · 24/04/2019 14:15

Ada he did visit July 2018, what has he done since? Nowt according to the media

AdaColeman · 24/04/2019 14:19

justasking Well, my reaction when I read it was "Good luck with that"!

BertrandRussell · 24/04/2019 14:23

“William has stated that bringing a "just and lasting peace" to the Middle East will be his life's mission.”
Blimey- did he? No delusions of grandeur there, then!!

SenecaFalls · 24/04/2019 14:24

How exactly is someone who is supposed to be non-political going to go about that?

justasking111 · 24/04/2019 14:25

Hell be treading in Tony Blairs footsteps then (rolls eyes). I do not doubt his sincerity but his understanding of the problem.

queenofarles · 24/04/2019 14:25

Oh God Please !let him stay away from the Middle East conflicts, Trump and Kushner are doing a grand job as it is in dividing the ME further.

PinkieTuscadero · 24/04/2019 14:25

Maybe he can team up with Jared Kushner. I believe he has similar ambitions...

ElspethFlashman · 24/04/2019 14:26

I don't remember tbh. But it was widely reported at the time.

Look, I had PND, I know how shit the first year can be. But these ladies have HUUUUGE practical support and do very few hours a month even at full pelt.

Fine, don't do a tour that year. No one would mind. But don't imply that they are bravely trudging back to the coal face after 3 months.

user1457017537 · 24/04/2019 14:26

Hahahaha

queenofarles · 24/04/2019 14:40

Elespeth I agree with you, Meghan and Catherine are their own boss, they can set the time to any meeting according to their own preference even if they go back to “work” they don’t need to bother with washing clothes, cooking , cleaning..etc
Sometimes it’s just not right to try and act as if they are just like any struggling new parent , because they really are not!

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 24/04/2019 14:58

When did William say he wanted to bring peace to the ME.?
I’ve just seen him visit Jordan and Israel. That’s it.
Did he say anything of value.
Is he going to kick out the Israelis and give the Palestinians their land back.?
Get Al Quaeda and Isis to put down their arms?

He really should stick to elephant conservation and pinning medals on people.

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 24/04/2019 15:01

William in Israel

QueenOfTheAndals · 24/04/2019 15:03

That's certainly a lofty ambition for William but perhaps he needs to put his own house in order and make peace with his brother before he sets his sights on the Middle East!

I am curious as to whether Meghan will be at the State dinner for Trump.
She can’t be rude to him, but she will want to get her views across if they meet.
