Will Kate emerge from her Norfolk seclusion sporting a bigger than ever Alice band? Will the Mail and Express stories about Meghan get more ludicrous by the day? And will this thread see the arrival of Baby Sussex? All will be revealed in due course...

So true about CPV and Mary Tyler Moore. I still watch that show mainly for the 1970s fashion trip down memory lane.

TracyBeakerSoYeah · 12/04/2019 14:37

Congratulations on your forthcoming nuptials Queen.
Should we ask the other Queen if you can borrow a tiara? You can always tell her you're Danny Dyer's sister & that faaahmly ave to help each other out cos that's what faaahmly do. And it's what Great Grandads Willie & Eddie would have wanted.................

Notmyrealname855 · 12/04/2019 14:40

Victoria suits the yellow but looks rather thin there :(

Queen which royal bride’s dress would you get married in (and tiara!)? Or flower scheme etc? (I quite liked W&K’s trees :) )

BlingLoving · 12/04/2019 15:33

The fact that they'll say when she goes into labour means, I think, that there will be some kind of announcement via Twitter/Instagram (if not the Buckingham Palace thing as I'm not sure how close to the throne you have to be for that one) fairly soon after baby is born. However, there will be no photos and no information about where Meghan, harry and Baby are.

I also think there will be a picture released via their own social media fairly soon - meghan looking immaculate but casual (think soft cashmere jumper or cotton button up shirt), sitting on a couch or bed, possibly with Harry doing the traditional "Dad hanging over the bed for the photo" thing.

Then the formal photo call a few days later.

It seems pretty clear to me that the point of this announcement was to make it clear to everyone that if you (or the media) had hoped to be camping outside a hospital then seeing them exit after a certain amount of time, it's not going to happen. Realistically however, if they want to keep the destination secret, I am thinking they are going to do their best for a a home birth as I can't imagine that there won't be some eagle eyed nurse or porter or doctor working in a different department who notices the security etc (I think the staff in the maternity team are probably fairly discreet but hospitals have a lot of other people floating around too).

And if they do a hospital, I think what this announcement is making clear is that they won't be coming out of the hospital's front doors and taking pics. They'll be coming out privately via underground garage or even one of those big tent things (like Kate had at the hotel for the wedding).

From my perspective, I say YES. I totally understand why Kate did the steps thing and have absolutely no criticism of her for it. But I think it's absolutely bonkers and I don't blame Meghan and Harry for thinking "No bloody way!"

Paradyning · 12/04/2019 17:13

Yes @QueenOfTheAndals which royal dress would you go for?

And congrats!

Wonder how much Max's Stella is....

Stravapalava · 12/04/2019 18:32

Kate kind of had to do the steps thing, at least with George, as he is the future monarch. Baby Sussex isn't, however, so while yes they should announce it, there's no need for a big hoo ha. JMO.

My style is more Meghan than Kate but alas a bespoke Givenchy is a little beyond my budget!

QueenOfTheAndals · 12/04/2019 18:55

My tiara choice would be Meghan's or Zara's. Shall I ask HM for a loan?

GeorgieTheGorgeousGoat · 12/04/2019 19:02

I think Zara is my favourite royal. Love the faces she pulls. Grin

TipseyTorvey · 12/04/2019 19:09

Queen congratulations on the upcoming nuptials! Are you going full on gown? What about a veil? I think you should get that gospel choir back in. Loved them ❤️

Here you go, Queen.

QueenOfTheAndals · 12/04/2019 19:47

Hah that's brilliant @SenecaFalls!

@TipseyTorvey I won't be wearing a veil and not sure if I'll even go for a proper wedding gown as it's my second wedding...

OP posts:
BeverlyGoldberg · 12/04/2019 20:06

It was also Meghan's second. Go for it - do whatever makes you happy.

I'm tiara and gown up at any opportunity!

Stravapalava · 12/04/2019 22:05

passes the hat round for donations for tiara

frugalkitty · 12/04/2019 22:15

Picking up on which royal wedding dress Queen would choose, why don’t we play a game (while we wait for baby news)....... if you were getting married and could choose one royal wedding gown and tiara, which would you choose?

I’d go for the Spencer tiara, no veil, and.....too hard, not sure which dress.....either Sarah Chatto’s or Infanta Cristina’s because I don’t suit lace or frills, I like clean lines.

hoteltango · 12/04/2019 22:46

I believe Sophie suffered a placental abruption when she was pregnant with Louise. And apparently there was a delay because staff/security didn't respond quickly. Hopefully, if Meghan is having a home birth at Windsor Cottage, there'll be a better plan should the need arise.

I'm totally bemused by the blocking off of part of the Long Walk for the press. That will just be to enable some TV person to report the birth with some part of Windsor Castle in the background. It's TV Reporting for Dummies, just like the Daily Mail uses stock photos.

QueenOfTheAndals · 12/04/2019 23:07

I do have a secret love of Wallis' wedding dress. She was the epitome of chic.

My favourite royal wedding dresses are Meghan's and Sarah Chatto's, though I did see a couple of princesses (Luxembourg?) who married in beautiful Elie Saabs. Hmm if they can find the money for Elie Saab dresses then they can give poor Tessy a bit more than £8k a year!

OP posts:
QueenOfTheAndals · 12/04/2019 23:09

Actually, Meghan's Stella M evening dress is probably the one I would pick to marry in.

SenecaFalls · 12/04/2019 23:19

Oh yes, Princess Claire of Luxembourg in Elie Saab. I am not usually a fan of all-over lace, but this is spectacular.

SenecaFalls · 12/04/2019 23:23

I think my number one all-time favorite is Sarah Chatto's.

hoteltango · 12/04/2019 23:47

I'm old and I've seen photos and vidoes of royal weddings going way back. And I have to say that of all of them, my favourite is Princess Anne's wedding dress. I love the bodice and the sleeves. It wasn't a fairytale dress, it was a statement dress. And suited her personality perfectly.

TracyBeakerSoYeah · 13/04/2019 00:10

Have been perusing the British Royal Family wedding dresses from Queen Victoria onwards & ended up reading about Victoria's eldest child Princess Victoria known as Vicky who later became the Kaiserin (Empress) of Prussia then Germany.
Vicky was only 17 when she married!
I think she was 15/16 when this photo was taken & she was beautiful. Beatrice has her eyes but I think Princess Charlotte will look more like Vicky as she gets older.
