Where in God's name would I source a closed-toe summer sandal from?

I injured my toe in the gym and my big toenail fell off and is disgustingly growing back. I cannot allow the general public to see this horror in my usual range of summer sandals (I am very sad about this state of affairs, as I have lovely toes and usually have them beautifully painted and on show from as soon as the thermometer hits 18).

I really want some nice, cool, closed-toe sandals for the warm weather, maybe loosely woven, gladiator style? I'm pretty open, to be honest, as long as I'm not going to slidey-sweaty inside them and my big toe is hidden from view.

But where would I find these creatures? The internet will not help me and I now I'm cross and hate it and everything else (but especially the bastard dumbell responsible for this trauma).

Any suggestions?

Try Zalando. They’ve a massive wide range of shoes/sandals/boots, clothes, accessories etc.

ReginaGeorgeous · 07/04/2019 17:46

Have you looked in Office? They have a few espadrille styles in various colours and fabrics

I'm looking on Zalando now but there are 76 pages and no way to filter by closed toe...in this for the long haul Grin

I saw some in M&S and thought "those look very practical" and realised I was turning into my Mum.

I also saw some children's ones in Gap kids this weekend, so they may have a similar style in the adult section (or you may fit into kids sizes)

A shoe shop would be a good starting place

I sort of hate espadrilles (I tan really easily and would like to avoid weird strap marks). But maybe they're my best option.

PerdHapley · 07/04/2019 17:53

Zara have some really nice sandals in at the minute, think I remember some closed toe pairs when I went in

PerdHapley · 07/04/2019 17:53

False nail, you say? Where would I get such a thing?

What about a menorcan sandal? I’ve got white solillas and rose gold/ silver palmairas that I love. They do have a small opening at the toe but you can actually see your toes.

PARunnerGirl · 07/04/2019 17:54

*can’t!

PerdHapley · 07/04/2019 17:55

VintagegothI had similar with Edinburgh Woollen Mill a few years ago. "Ooooh" I thought, "that looks cosy".

And for the false toenails, I’ve used a brand called Broadway nails before, they stayed stuck on for ten days even while on the beach, swimming and stuff.

Bubblysqueak · 07/04/2019 17:57

Got some really nice ones that are ridiculously comfy from Primark for £14.99.

PerdHapley · 07/04/2019 17:58

PARunnerGirl Noooo, you can see the toenail (well you could if you had one. which I don't).

M&S giving me nothing closed toe on the website. Sensible or otherwise. Goddamn it all to hell.

Search "closed toe sandal ladies" in Amazon, and you get some options coming up. Should give you some brands or style names to search further.

ReginaGeorgeous · 07/04/2019 18:02

How about menorcan style sandals like the solillas brand? They look like they'd cover the majority of your toe (certainly enough to detract attention) and no ankle straps?

PerdHapley · 07/04/2019 18:03

Orchidflower I got all excited there for a minute but looking at the image of the model wearing them I think the toenail (or lack of) is too obvious

I'm looking at false toenails now (though they sort of give me the ick)...that may work. But I can't wear them for the whole summer, can I? Won't that give me a fungal nail infection?

I might try to brave Primark tomorrow.

And Zara. Which will be exciting, because I am a shortarse so everything in there is Not For The Likes Of Me, usually.
