Where in God's name would I source a closed-toe summer sandal from?

I injured my toe in the gym and my big toenail fell off and is disgustingly growing back. I cannot allow the general public to see this horror in my usual range of summer sandals (I am very sad about this state of affairs, as I have lovely toes and usually have them beautifully painted and on show from as soon as the thermometer hits 18).

I really want some nice, cool, closed-toe sandals for the warm weather, maybe loosely woven, gladiator style? I'm pretty open, to be honest, as long as I'm not going to slidey-sweaty inside them and my big toe is hidden from view.

But where would I find these creatures? The internet will not help me and I now I'm cross and hate it and everything else (but especially the bastard dumbell responsible for this trauma).

Any suggestions?

Ok, what about these from Amazon? Are they horrendous? (My bar is so low right now, I've lost all sense of what will or will not provoke others to laugh and point)

No, ignore that - I've jut looked more closely and seen the horrific glitzy ankle strap.

You could get an acrylic toe nail done for you

PerdHapley · 07/04/2019 18:16

But maybe these are ok?

I've got Menorcan sandals from Palmaira Sandals and you can't see your toe nails in them.

They are brilliant actually - I've had them the last 3 summers and they are perfect for chucking on on a nice summer days when my toenails are looking a bit minging.

PalacePalacePalace · 07/04/2019 18:17

How about these ones from fitflop

cova

simonthedog · 07/04/2019 18:19

These are the M&S ones

PerdHapley · 07/04/2019 18:22

Simonthedog I think that they maybe are tipping too far into the nana shoe category?

onemouseplace Are you sure? Because in the picture you can definitely see the toenail...

palacepalcepalce thank you, but really not my style. Shame, as excellent at the old toenail coverage.

Not sure how long these would last but may be worth a try - you could probably paint them to make them look less fake.

rightreckoner · 07/04/2019 18:30

I was going to suggest Mallorca / Menorca style.

I don’t know if these are ”sandaly” enough iyswim.

onemouseplace · 07/04/2019 18:31

These are the ones I have.

No toe showing.

Orchidflower1 · 07/04/2019 18:33

Also the second pair you linked from Amazon I have actually purchased last year. They went in the bin as they cut my heal and little toe to ribbons. They are very hard. They do cover your toes but it depends if you want to chance it with the blisters!

BikeRunSki · 07/04/2019 18:33

Mostly closed?

PerdHapley · 07/04/2019 18:34

Orchidflower no, not sandally enough Sad

Well. This thread is marvellous! I'm on tablets to try and sort out a fungal toenail infections (thanks for sharing, DH!AngryEnvy) and while I live in hope that it might be sorted before summer, deep down I know that's crazy talk!

stucknoue · 07/04/2019 18:35

Talk to a decent nail salon, it's not that unlike false nails and mine are on continuously

PerdHapley · 07/04/2019 18:35

Hmmmm...ok, so maybe the Palmaira ones might work...

I have these which come in 4 colours but are from a narrow fitting specialist.

PerdHapley · 07/04/2019 18:36

Damnit, I thought those Amazon ones might work!

Cut away ballet flat type things?

PerdHapley · 07/04/2019 18:42

Bikerunski thank you, but the first pair look too open, and the second pair not sandally enough Sad

PerdHapley · 07/04/2019 18:43

Those are nice, 78percent lindt, but I have feet like pasties, so worried that they'll be too slim for me...
