dontcallmelen · 02/04/2019 20:53

Laska yy L’Oréal summer glow, i couldn’t think of the name of it dd swears by that one.

Laska2Meryls · 02/04/2019 20:54

I also tried the jersey Blue shirt on this morning with last years washed black denim frayed shorts and a vest & really liked it with that ..

Laska2Meryls · 02/04/2019 20:58

ella My DF has dug out some names for you , but will email you tomorrow now, he was struck at how much your Aunt looks like my DM did at her age , but Tbh we didnt find any direct match name

NotAnActualSheep · 02/04/2019 20:59

I haven't used fake tan much, for exactly the reasons you mention cherries! Though I was thinking at the weekend that I may give it a go this year. I had most success with the "summer glow" stuff len mentioned, though I probably didn't use it as frequently as you should last time, and never really got a good colour... But at least I didn't go orange. And because it is gradual you can control any bits that you think could go too dark/streaky by putting less on there. It did make me smell of digestive biscuits, though.

I think my legs are genetically opposed to being anything apart from translucent really. .. though to be fair i don't usually give them any opportunity to catch more than a glimpse of sun.

len Grin I'll have to take her out with me shopping to ensure I avoid it!

fuzzy Flowers Yy it must totally change the way you see yourself, but I agree, "be more cherries"... Wink

ilovecherries · 02/04/2019 21:03

fuzzy, I really think its largely one of those things one needs to make a choice about. It breaks my heart to see young women talking about their lives being over because they have lost their hair, or older women saying that in 25 years of marriage, their DH has never seen them without hair. I couldn't live like that. I was 19 when my hair first fell out. Went from thick, bum length hair to bald in three weeks. Its been a relapsing remitting picture since, getting worse each time. Of course I've grieved in on occasion. Even now I will have a 'its not fair' moment now and again. But basically I just decided right from the beginning that I wasn't going to hide it or feel sorry for myself, or let it have my life. My DD has strict instructions though that if I ever am too ill to take care of myself, she is to ensure that the wispy bits I have at the front are kept shaved. I don't mind being a bald old lady, but I am not being a bald old lady with three wisps of hair!

dontcallmelen · 02/04/2019 21:04

Fuzzy soo tough, dd had the same but once her meds were sorted & flare ups subsided her hair recovered quite a bit💐

ilovecherries · 02/04/2019 21:09

I was lucky at 19, I guess. My boyfriend at the time had many many issues that made him a bad choice, but from day one he was positive about my hair. Helped me shave my head the first time, and always said he found me hot bald. But I'm on forums where women sleep/swim/exercise in faux hair and change in the bathroom so their husbands never see them.

Laska2Meryls · 02/04/2019 21:09

not I think the summer glow is less biscuity than most .. Fake Bake makes me feel hungry!! .

Also cherries its only 'biscuity' when you put it on .I do it last thing before bed leave it overnight (& I haven't had it stain my white sheets, ) Once you shower it off in the morning , the smell goes but the colour stays (but lighter so dont panic if it looks to dark beforehand) .

I am pleased now I have solved my First World problem of what to keep from my Hush orders!! . We are going back to Brighton to see friends for the weekend , will it be warm enough to wear my chinos and shirt I wonder?

Ellapaella · 02/04/2019 21:21

I fake tan my legs. Religiously in the summer. I've been doing it since I was 20 so for nearly 20 years and have tried pretty much every product on the market.
It probably depends on skin type and your undertone but I swear by Bondi Sands spray oil or the Bondi sands gradual tan mousse in pink bottle (dries very quickly, no streaks or patches and no biscuit smell).
Exfoliate, use a mitt and gloves and apply a little Vaseline over knees and bony parts of your feet before hand.
Palmers Cocoa butter gradual tan is a brilliant cheaper alternative and gives a lovely olive glow.
I think it very much depends on whether you have yellow or pink undertones as to what product will suit you best.
I have yellow undertones and am quite olive toned, Bondi sands and St Tropez work best for me.
I always have a spray tan before a holiday or for an occasion and the best is Fake Bake - lasts for over a week and doesn't go patchy as it wears off.

Its not w quite the same for me fuzzy as I am a Trichotillomania person and so it could be said that I 'caused' it myself, (I disagree btw) rather than having alopecia or other causes which in lots of ways are given more sympathy and understanding.

But I agree, 100% with cherries , short/ bald can be really positive, if you let it (it took me a very long time ) and should be celebrated .

I now keep my hair deliberately v.v short (and currently pink),and once I allowed myself to do that, It all became so much easier to cope with and has helped immensely to the extent that you'd hardly know I have a problem anymore . ..I'm not completely 'out' , unless it comes up in conversation , but I dont hide it anymore . Not hiding is just wonderful.

I also have a really supportive DH , who likes me as I am , and has never made me feel ashamed of being Trich , like so many people in my life have )

dontcallmelen · 02/04/2019 22:13

Yy cherries no way to live, if you are hiding yourself that’s what I told dd never be ashamed, she cut hers really short & wears fun wigs/different colours when she goes out sometimes.

dontcallmelen · 02/04/2019 22:21

Laska people’s attitudes are sometimes so bloody cruel💐

ilovecherries · 02/04/2019 22:46

Thanks for the fake tan advice. I have quite a pale cool, pinky skin. Any product recommendations?

DD wants the Moritz jeans if I don’t keep them. That WILL be right. Fortunately she’s only an 8 in Hush so they are far too big. I’m not sure though if I should find that encouraging or horrifying.

twosoups1972 · 02/04/2019 22:48

I love the slippers too fuzzy they look cute and comfy.

twosoups1972 · 02/04/2019 22:52

cherries I am truly impressed with your positive attitude. Sorry if that sounds really patronising, it wasn't meant to be at all. I just really admire people who manage to stay positive when stuff happens. I don't think I am a natural optimist and do tend to wallow when bad things happen. But feeling sorry for yourself doesn't do anyone any good at all.

twosoups1972 · 02/04/2019 22:53

laska how horrible some people must be to judge you like that. You can do without them.

twosoups1972 · 02/04/2019 22:56

Been perusing the new Boden catalogue, what are your thoughts on this jacket? Nice or horrible?

www.boden.co.uk/en-gb/womens-coats-jackets/jackets/t0270-nav/womens-navy-lisbon-embroidered-jacket

neveradullmoment99 · 02/04/2019 23:36

Im not sure @soups. Its not the usual thing that I would wear personally. I think it looks ok teamed in a casual way. I think there is a bit too much embroidery. Would have been nicer if they had kept it off the arms. It gives it a bit too much of a military look for my taste. What do you think of it?

whiskyremorse · 03/04/2019 07:26

Baukjen are on Brand Alley. I have broken my accidental no spend (not seen anything I've wanted for ages). They do lovely (but overpriced) jersey tops so a good price on BA.

Laska2Meryls · 03/04/2019 08:31

Have tried on the Moritz again this morning and decided to see if Hush will do an exchange on the 10%pair. Also have ordered the ones Ella had last year and posted then on another thread they are only £14.70! 😊

Laska2Meryls · 03/04/2019 08:36

Twosoups and Len it was a long time ago , unfortunately some of them were my close family... Ah well ,OCD things were really understood in those days and it does also have an unfortunate 'mania' name as first identified in Victorian times Hmm

twosoups1972 · 03/04/2019 08:45

never it’s not the sort of thing I would normally go for either but it caught my eye, it’s a bit different. Hideously expensive though.

neveradullmoment99 · 03/04/2019 09:34

Its worth a try @laska.
At the price, you need to be sure @soups, although you could try it just to scratch the itch.
The ones from la redoute look great. What size did you go for? In my experience la redoute run small.

neveradullmoment99 · 03/04/2019 09:37

I might try the Moritz again too 😀
