Hello all - new thread

I’m resigning myself to trainers, soups, or very very fugly sandals. It’s not Acot, they will presumably not throw me out for inappropriate attire. I was just having a sad strop yesterday, that it was a formal, hat worthy occasion, and I could wear neither. And suddenly had the double realisation that this will apply to any event in the future as well (clearly indication that I don’t go to many, given this is the first time I’ve truly encountered the problem since my surgery). Changing isn’t an option - it literally is excruciating to have the ‘wrong’ shoes on, even for 5 minutes. Even trying all those pairs on in store was a nightmare of pain, which is probably why I got so upset. I’d be better off showing a bit of gratitude for my recovery to be honest.

ilovecherries · 06/04/2019 13:19

ellllle, I’m a large 12 and depending on cut sometime wear a small, so you might find the XS is better. I haven’t tried either of the ones you mention though.

ilovecherries · 06/04/2019 13:20

And you aren’t intruding - we are all very welcoming, we just veer into all sorts of areas these days :)

Ellapaella · 06/04/2019 13:22

@Elllllle I'm a large 10 (probably an 11 if it existed) and I wear a small in Hush knitwear.

@ilovecherries and @Ellapaella thank you that's very helpful. I do remember the tshirts were quite large (but dont mind the oversized look). I really don't want see-through though also, if anyone has any feedback on those particular jumpers would be most grateful.

Elllllle · 06/04/2019 13:29

Oh and that khaki pencil skirt someone else mentioned is fab!! I think I also need this. Do I wait for a JL or similar code or just burn my money right here and now?!

dontcallmelen · 06/04/2019 13:29

Elllle yy what cherries said you are not intruding.
Cherries as it’s still early in the season, you may find something you like lots of more summery footwear will be about🤞🏻

Ellapaella · 06/04/2019 13:32

@Elllllle it's tricky as the nice stuff seems to go out of stock quite quickly. I reckon there'll be another discount at the end of April but you can never be certain.

ilovecherries · 06/04/2019 13:36

There won’t be a code for a while as one just ended, so if you love the skirt (and it is lovely), I’d buy it and get it on. (Enabling).

Thanks Len, tbh though, it won’t make much difference. It really is just trainers or fitflop lulus, and I’m almost coming down in favour of the trainers as that might look like I’m a fashionista, rather than sandals that just look as if I have no taste :D. I’m waiting for the snakeskin ones laska linked to to arrive, and they do look better, if I can stand to wear them.

ilovecherries · 06/04/2019 13:37

Crossed with Ella, not being argumentative with her :)

Ellapaella · 06/04/2019 13:45

Lol cherries Smile
I love the chino skirt. It's on my wish list but I am skint.

The khaki pencil skirt is great. I had it on yesterday and my mum commented on it. Its a really great shape and similar to the denim one on the website. I most recently have been a large 12 down to the menopause and Christmas as I have been putting weight on around the old tum. Its a nice and easy 12 to wear and it has stretch. If you are a very small 12, you may want to buy a 10 in it. I think its a total hush winner.

neveradullmoment99 · 06/04/2019 13:49

I think the shape really flatters. I wish they did it in different colours.

neveradullmoment99 · 06/04/2019 13:50

Oh and I had mine on with tights and trainers yesterday. It is very slimming. Its knee length on me and I am about 5ft 6

neveradullmoment99 · 06/04/2019 13:53

The black next crops came. A bit disappointed in the colour tbh. I thought I would be more of a 'washed' blak but is just jet black and a bit worky. They are still nice and soft and useful and I will keep them but not what I thought they would be like. I suppose the plus point is that I can wear them to work. They are still an amazing price for culottes. They also are a great fit.

ilovecherries · 06/04/2019 15:05

I'm trying to decide which of the Next crops to keep, as I really only need/want one pair. I picked the bleached wash up in store, and the dark wash have just arrived. I'm not sure why they describe them as 'jersey' though, as I really wouldn't say they were.

dontcallmelen · 06/04/2019 15:19

cherries at least trainers are very much on trend now, some really great styles & every colour under the sun available so I reckon really would be a fashionista with pretty dress & fabulous trainers.
Yy the chino skirt tis lovely, I’m back on the no spend bench until end of May might be a bit earlier if I don’t keep the BA jacket, which I’m determined I will only keep if it’s perfect otherwise it’s going straight back.
@Fuzzypuffling hope you are as ok as you can be & that Dh is feeling a bit better.

neveradullmoment99 · 06/04/2019 15:22

I think the denim ones are kind of jersey stretchy fabric but the black ones I don't really think I would describe as jersey. They are still stretchy though and supercomfy but I do think they are a bit smaller. I am going to keep both as the black ones are nice and smart. I do wear culottes to work [ I have a next smart pair with a side zip] that I wear with chunky black sandals in the summer. I really do like them and probably be tempted in ordering the darker ones too but they keep saying 2 days wait and I am very impatient when it comes to waiting on things to be delivered.

ilovecherries · 06/04/2019 15:22

And now for a very personal question! Since I got my boobs done, my stomach looks much bigger. I know it's not, but it looks it! It's mainly the bit below my belly button down to my section scars. So some of it is mum tum overhang, some is loose skin from weight loss, some of it is probably just age and muscle laxity. Spanx doesn't make it go away, it just scoops it into one area (right at the front!). Does this mean I shouldn't be wearing skinny jeans, and I should always be wearing 'tops that skim' (ie, shapeless sacks). Or do I just tuck with pride? From the front it looks fine, from the side, it look as if I've tucked, if not a watermelon, then a fairly humungous grapefruit inside my trousers. When I had my massive boobs, they stuck out further than anything else by a mile, but now I think my lower belly might have that role. (or roll would also be apposite). What does one do?

neveradullmoment99 · 06/04/2019 15:30

Well after having 6 children, age, weight loss/gain/ menopause my stomach is the worst it has ever been. I am so conscious of it. I tend to wear tops that skim over. I avoid anything that is a skinny fit top wise. That's why I have like Hush tees as they tend to skim over my worst parts. I wear skinny jeans always. So yes you can still wear them. I don't tuck in though. Partly because it doesn't suit me and also because it would mean highlighting my tummy. I don't wear shapeless things but I tend not to wear things that cling.

dontcallmelen · 06/04/2019 15:31

never are the next culottes cropped ones?

dontcallmelen · 06/04/2019 15:31

Ignore me course they are they are culottes duh😳😳

neveradullmoment99 · 06/04/2019 15:34

Are you more pear shaped now @cherries? Hips wider than shoulders? If you are tops need to be balanced with length. Thats why I wear hush long vests to bring the length down of any shortish tops. Anything that is belted doesn't suit me or I can never find the place that suits me to wear it belted to make it look good. I just cannot achieve a balance with belted dresses unless its low slung and then I cant get the belt to stay that way so give up. I just look horrible with things tucked in.

neveradullmoment99 · 06/04/2019 15:35

@melen - don't be hard on yourself. Yes, they are the culottes :) They are really nice. Both pairs. [black and bleach]

neveradullmoment99 · 06/04/2019 15:36

I do wear dungarees though although they aren't that bad and tend to skim in the tummy department or maybe I am deluded!
