Hi cherries the dress is beautiful Smile I completely understand your frustration and don't feel bad for having a moan.

How much walking/standing will there be? Would it be possible to take a pair of white trainers that are comfortable for you, and maybe another pair of smarter shoes/sandals that you could wear for photos etc? Lots of people change out of their heels at parties etc. Would that work?

twosoups1972 · 05/04/2019 13:50

laska hope you have a lovely weekend in Brighton, it's a lovely place for a break. Hopefully the weather should cheer up a bit. Remember to have fish and chips on the beach Smile

twosoups1972 · 05/04/2019 13:52

never I like the sound of silver trainers, they would look fab!

Trainers have changed so much in recent years, they can look really smart. Don't give up on the dress just yet cherries!

twosoups1972 · 05/04/2019 14:08

So a few Hush purchases:

Can’t decide which, if any, to keep.

Hi Soups really the blue & orange not so keen on the green as it looks a bit short.
cherries moan away, I have the right hump for absolutely no reason at all today.

NotAnActualSheep · 05/04/2019 15:46

Ooooh -yes, I agree soups - the blue looks lovely on you. The neckline is really nice. And also the ombre t I love -its a really nice shape - and colour of course!! I agree the green one is probably my least favourite in terms of shape, though the colour is really nice. Have you tried the linen jumper in the same colour? Being linen it may hang a bit better (though it is still short-ish)?

cherries - yy I agree, don't give up on the dress! It is looooovely. I think the snake sandals laska suggested would really work assuming they are comfy. In fact, I think any of the light-coloured or textured/ animal sandals linked would be good, or even those fit flop trainers...as they are a lighter colour I think it kind of takes away from some of the "clumpiness" that i think you are worried about. If you google image search "trainers with midi dress" there are loads of looks with (generally white/ pale) trainers that look lovely, and totally suitable - and make floaty dresses a bit more edgy if you see what you mean. Like this or this or these - though more casual generally.

There are also a few trainers on the new balance website that could work (though I think you'd need some with the "N" not being so obvious personally! - something like these? Or these which I think are gorgeous? ). In fact, I've just noticed you can customise your own, if you have a spare £200 Shock Shock Shock. Also, I think I'v fallen in love with these Cath Kidston ones which wouldn't work for your dress, but I think are lovely Grin

Ellapaella · 05/04/2019 15:59

@twosoups1972 I agree with Laska, the blue and red look lovely and compliment your colouring very nicely.

Thank you all. I agree that the green one is my least favourite, that will definitely go back. Will prob keep the blue one and will think about the ombre. They were bought at full price so need to justify the cost.

cherries any more thoughts on the shoe front? sheep I love those outfits you linked to, I also think the dress will work with the right trainers.

twosoups1972 · 05/04/2019 16:52

Hope everyone is getting ready for the weekend. Dd3 broke up from school today, went for lunch with her friends and is now back home with one friend. Dh is driving home with dd1 home from boarding school for a lovely 3 weeks. And poor dd2 doesn't finish school until Tuesday then I imagine it will be stress, stress, stress for her as GCSEs loom Sad

Ellapaella · 05/04/2019 17:26

I love the school holidays Soup - it'll be nice to have your DD back at home for 3 weeks, lots of spoiling to be done!
I'm working my usual 3 days next week but it's still nice when the kids are off as I don't have the routine of getting them up and sorted, pack lunches and homework etc and the traffic should be good driving to work.
Off to Edinburgh on weds next week then a wee family trip away planned the week after. Can't wait, off the whole of the second week of the holidays 😁

Sounds lovely ella We had a family trip to Edinburgh a few years ago, really enjoyed it. It's a great city.

ilovecherries · 05/04/2019 17:57

Love the blue one, soups, is that the merlin?

Re the shoes, have ordered the snakeskin sandals, and the white ones to see. The dress looks lovely with trainers, and that’s how I would style it normally, I just feel it’s not formal enough. But if I don’t wear trainers, I can’t go is more or less the bottom line. I have a couple of pairs of clumpy boots I can wear in winter, but no backup option for summer.

evilharpy · 05/04/2019 18:46

Hello lovely Hush ladies. I’m after some advice please. I have never owned anything from Hush before buy bought a tunic style dress thing frim a charity shop today. It’s 100% viscose and says dry clean only. I cannot be arsed with dry cleaning! Am I likely to destroy this if I throw it in the machine on a cold delicates cycle or wool wash with woolite?

neveradullmoment99 · 05/04/2019 19:00

@evilharpy, can you post a picture of the dress? I'm just wondering which one it is. Is it a viscose crepe type material?

Ellapaella · 05/04/2019 19:02

@evilharpy Hush are a nightmare for their washing instructions. Virtually everything seems to be handwash or dry clean only. I think it's their get out clause to cover themselves from ever having to refund anything that might lose its shape or shrink. I put everything I've ever bought in the washing machine without any problems. I reckon it'll be ok on a delicate wash.

OP posts:
neveradullmoment99 · 05/04/2019 19:06

I had one that I bought that was viscose but a kind of crepey feel to it. It was in a kind of duck egg colour. Dropped waist and with buttons down the front. I washed it on delicates and it came out ok. It probably slightly shrunk but not enough to make any difference.

evilharpy · 05/04/2019 19:19

dullmoment I’ll post one tomorrow, can’t manage to get a decent one just now, it’s too dark here. It does have a crepey feel.

Ellapaella I’m usually quite gung ho about these things, I’ve washed a silk-lined trench from Jigsaw before with no ill effects, but Hush is an unknown quantity for me!

evilharpy · 05/04/2019 19:20

If it shrunk a wee bit it wouldn’t matter, it’s quite oversized.

justilou1 · 06/04/2019 00:25

Happy Weekend Hushistas! Back onto the @hairloss bandwagon, mine had been coming out in chunks lately. Stress, perimenopause and a combo of autoimmune issues are likely causes (lucky me.). I have just bought a giant bucket of fish oil tablets to add to my daily supplement load and have purchased The Ordianary’s Multi Peptide Hair Serum which I noticed contains a lot of the same kinds of ingredients that expensive eyelash serums have, and I’ve had great success with those. (Also a small investment to experiment with, comparatively). Will keep you in the loop!

Offredismysister · 06/04/2019 10:26

I posted some pics of the Bryce culottes on the last thread. I sent them back as there was far too much material & they made me look dumpy.

I’ve just bought the Me & Em cropped palazzo pants & they are fab, so flattering. I’m deffo keeping them. They are a similar price to the Bryce culottes, but this is a 15% off code for new customers if anyone is interested.

ilovecherries · 06/04/2019 10:42

Oh, I have these, offred, love them too, so comfy and the double layer front does wonders.

twosoups1972 · 06/04/2019 11:28

Yes it's the merlin cherries will probably keep. Any update on the shoe problem? Did you see my suggestion about taking a second pair to change into?

Hi just sorry to hear that. Hope the fish oils have a positive effect. All over the sickness bug in your family now? Hope so.

gubbsywubbsy · 06/04/2019 11:37

I just got the washed chinos and they are lovely . Loose but not massive .

neveradullmoment99 · 06/04/2019 12:27

@soups the blue one is lovely. The green one is a really beautiful colour but is let down by the shape. Such a shame because if it was the same shape as the glue one i would definitely say keep!!! The pink one is nice but the blue one is a nicer colour and the neckline is better on you.

Elllllle · 06/04/2019 13:12

I don't want to intrude here but looking for some Hush advice. I bought (& loved) several Hush tshirts years ago but was put off when they changed the cut and length. Anyway I've recently seen several hush jumpers I've really liked but I'm wondering if a small is still equivalent to an average-large size 10? Also whether the linen and cotton jumpers are so thin as to see through this year? Sorry, Ive looked back thru and cant find any reviews of the specific ones I like except for the blue merlin jumper, which I think a pp said was thin. Has anyone got the pink/red zebra or navy colourblock jumper? Tia
