Morning Hushistas, We are off to Brighton area for the weekend. Yesterday it tipped down all day and winter back again although it looks better out there this morning. But sadly I think taking my Chaminox chinos and new shirt for spring weather is out . Reckon I should drag a Meryl out!..
I don't think there will be much chance of looking in shops , but it will be great to see old friends. Really looking forward to it it's been so long since I have been anywhere (except family) .I am desperate for a
break.
I'll be taking the good old winter favourites , animal leggings boots, wide tops , and yes a Meryl...

neveradullmoment99 · 05/04/2019 09:04

Well it was the same here @Laska. Yesterday was awful and bloody freezing!!! I was thinking about wearing my cropped wide legs but its been way too cold for that! I have ordered the black ones too. They should come tomorrow. I thought the black ones would be good to have. My plans today are to go to my mums with the kids. Think they had cabin fever yesterday. So off down there. Not sure what I might put on. Think I might wear my khaki pencil skirt, tights, trainers, white vest and hush shirt [ Yes, I kept it]
Hope you have a lovely time laska! Hope the weather stays good for you.

dontcallmelen · 05/04/2019 09:30

Yy yesterday we had torrential rain & was very cold, bit sunny here today & if it wasn’t for the wind would be quite pleasant, I have dgd today. Off to my cousins tomorrow night for a meal out will be nice to catch up.

I have bought what (I think) is a gorgeous green polka dot midi dress for DD's graduation (assuming she ever actually finishes the dissertation, but that's a rant for another day). Anyway, I'm not usually good at dressing up but she's won a couple of prizes and has been invited to a special chancellor's lunch and reception, so I wanted to look nice. But the shoes. I know I can't do shoes, even for an hour, never mind six. I just can't walk or stand in them without agony that can set my chronic pain off for weeks. Nothing will take the lift for my shortened leg either. I have tried literally dozens of pairs, and nothing is bearable. Even brogues or loafers are almost impossible, as they seem to grab at damaged bits of nerves. Padded trainers and fitflop lulu sandals are all I can wear. But I can't wear white trainers to this event, can I. I'm going to have to wear trousers, and hope black trainers go undetected. I am stupidly, ridiculously upset by this. I know this is a)not even about me b) an absolute nothing c) selfish and self centred. But just once, I want to look lovely and appropriate for a formal event. People (not me!), will be wearing hats ffs. And I will have to wear trainers :( Can anyone think of ANYTHING that might work. If they are flat and padded, I might manage without the orthotics for a few hours, given I know I can wear the lulus. Can't believe how upset I am.

Ellapaella · 05/04/2019 10:41

Cherries do you have the patent brogues from New Look that I have? (For some reason I think you do?) Can you manage warring them? They can be dressed up nicely with a cropped tapered black trouser.
You could wear white trainers with a dress, I think that would be ok, have you got a picture of the dress as that might help us to visualise a shoe that might work that would be comfortable for you.

Ellapaella · 05/04/2019 10:42

*wearing not warring (sorry)

dontcallmelen · 05/04/2019 11:14

Aww cherries could possibly a really well padded slightly dressier sandal work or as Ella said some really smart tapered trousers/brogues Yy post a pic of the dress.

ilovecherries · 05/04/2019 11:35

This is the dress. www.stories.com/en_gbp/clothing/dresses/printed-dresses/product.polka-dot-waist-tie-midi-dress-green.0742824001.html

I'm resigning myself to black trousers (in July! I'll look as if I've just come from a meeting :(), as I have black patent brogues from fitflop I can wear all day. But I just feel like shit. Its described as a garden party, hats optional, so I just can't imagine how I can turn that around. I do know I'm being very unreasonable, I just don't want to be stoic for once.

ilovecherries · 05/04/2019 11:37

DD is trying to cheer me up by telling me at when/if she gets married, both the bride and the MOTB can rock trainers all day. I hadn't even thought about THAT particular social horror.

ilovecherries · 05/04/2019 11:38

I should never have bought the dress. It's a complete example of the triumph of hope over experience.

neveradullmoment99 · 05/04/2019 11:39

What about some fly London sandals?

neveradullmoment99 · 05/04/2019 11:40

something like this

justilou1 · 05/04/2019 11:42

Sending you love, @Fuzzy... glad you have your husband to be your rock and your beach for walking and reflections. I hope you have lots of lovely memories of your mother to wrap yourself in. These are surreal and sad times, and everyone is going to share their opinions and memories with you. Yours are very, very special. Please try and use them to insulate yourself from everyone else’s feelings when things get too much. Lean on those who love you best and don’t focus on trying to please everyone else. X

neveradullmoment99 · 05/04/2019 11:43

There are lots of other colours and they would look less clumpy in white.

neveradullmoment99 · 05/04/2019 11:45

Why cant you wear trainers? It might look super cute! Maybe silver ones.

neveradullmoment99 · 05/04/2019 11:45

Or you could wear white canvas pumps or lace ups.

neveradullmoment99 · 05/04/2019 11:46

Try and see what works best. Don't give up.

dontcallmelen · 05/04/2019 11:59

Those sandals never posted look really padded & comfy or silver metallic pumps could look good, the dress is lovely btw really pretty & a lovely colour & a fabulous hat would look amazing with it, ikwym about being stoic sometimes you just want wear something without having to compromise or think too much about it.

Laska2Meryls · 05/04/2019 12:06

What about fitflop barra sandals in snake cherries?

Laska2Meryls · 05/04/2019 12:13

or maybe or Naia or Strata, in black or snake?

ilovecherries · 05/04/2019 12:14

Hat is def out, or I would need to go bald. Can't wear hair and a hat. I'm really selling myself, amn't I? I have tried fly sandals but they are just too sore everywhere. Sole too rigid, leather too hard. Ballet flats are a def no. Sorry, I hate when everyone is trying to be helpful, and I'm just going 'no, that won't work', makes me sound s total grouch. Need to give my head the proverbial MN wobble.

ilovecherries · 05/04/2019 13:05

Ok, trying to remind myself that I should be more grateful. It’s not that long ago I was ready to lay myself at my surgeons feet when he got me walking again, so whinging about shoes is really a little embarrassing. So, these are pictures of things I CAN wear. Plus anything by Nike or new balance for some reason. Adidas not so great but with a bit of breaking in, I could cope with them for a few hours.

ilovecherries · 05/04/2019 13:23

Not the strata, laska, have ordered that to try, thanks.

ilovecherries · 05/04/2019 13:25
