Oh fuzzy I am so sorry to hear that, how stressful for you. Are there other family members close by to your mum and MIL? I hope the steroids are effective, your poor dh. Feel free to vent on here, this is a lovely supportive thread, let's all be there for each other Flowers

twosoups1972 · 03/04/2019 20:21

ella how can you tell what undertones you have? I have dark hair and eyes and pale skin, or is that not enough to be able to tell?

dontcallmelen · 03/04/2019 20:27

Fuzzy you poor poor things💐😘 I cant even begin to think how that must feel for you both, really hope the steroids will take effect very soon, I’m glad that you felt able to post this is a really wonderful corner of MN & you will always get support here, sending big hugs n cuddles too you both.

FuzzyPuffling · 03/04/2019 20:35

Thank you, you lovely lot. My mum has my sister, niece and nephew I(and their partners) locally, and MIL has three more sons and various other relatives. No one is alone, it's just that we feel especially useless.

twosoups, it's really whether fuchsia pink or coral pink suit you better! (first is coo/blue toned, second is warm/yellow toned). Simplistic but a good indication.

Ellapaella · 03/04/2019 21:03

@FuzzyPuffling gosh I'm so sorry to hear all that... you must be having an awful time of it. Thanks

@Laska2Meryls I'll check my emails a bit later - am just going to watch The Bay. I'll get back to you though.

Thanks, Ella. :) Should probably try experimenting now, while I’m still keeping them covered!

ilovecherries · 03/04/2019 21:13

Oh, fuzzy, I’m so sorry to hear that. xx

GinandGingerBeer · 03/04/2019 21:15

Hello hush lovelies, sorry I've been so rubbish at keeping up. Another new thread!
Couldn't pass by without sending love to @FuzzyPuffling. So sorry to hear what a dreadful time you're having WineThanks
I'm off to crawl into bed as that's how I rock at the mo!
I have two weeks off after this week and I'm so ready for it!!
Zzzzzzzz Smile

NotAnActualSheep · 03/04/2019 21:27

Oh fuzzy - I'm so sorry to hear that 😞. And as you say, awful awful timing. I hope you and DH are recovering so will be able to travel soon.

I have to say that caring for elderly parents is something I've definitely been burying my head in the sand about. Luckily all ours are in good health at the moment, but MIL is at totally the wrong end of the country (at least DPs have recently moved to be closer...) and there are no available siblings or other family around. I know everyone does just get on with it and do what they need to do, but it does make me anxious. Though what with that, and boomerang children, it's difficult to know what to do a lot of the time! We are all either too far away from each other, or too close 😂.

So, on the pink/ yellow thing, I think I am cool toned (definitely suit fuschia rather than coral!) so does that mean I have pink undertones, and need to avoid yellow based foundation etc? I get so confused, because I'm sure I read somewhere that you need to sort of counteract the dominant tone in your skin- that might be the green base thing ella mentioned earlier? Aaaargh... I'm rubbish at being female...

I'm soooo tempted by never's culottes now! What's the sizing like? If they are generous round the hip/bum area I can sometimes get away with a 12 in next, or they can fall off my waist a bit.

Ellapaella · 03/04/2019 21:49

In reference to the yellow/pink tones (or warm/cool) some people say you look at your veins and if they are green or blue that determines you skin tone. I don't get that, to me everyone's veins look blue and I spend most days of my professional life looking at veins! Have never seen a green vein yet.

Anyway.. if you suit silver jewellery then you are probably cool or neutral toned.
If you look better in gold jewellery you may be warm or yellow toned.

Personally I think the best way to find out is to get a sample of yellow toned foundation and a sample of cool toned and compare the two to see which blends and looks best. You can google cool/neutral/yellow based foundations to get an idea what you need but Estée Lauder Double Wear do a good range of both.

@Laska2Meryls just about to email you back x

Oh @Fuzzy, you have it all happening, don’t you? Poor thing! Sending you big hugs! We lived in NL when my dad was diagnosed with MND, then shortly after he died, my mother was diagnosed with lung cancer. My brother lives near my parents but has severe MH issues and doesn’t acknowledge them, so I spent eight years flying between hemispheres, with or without three little children. It’s so hard and it always feels like you’re doing the wrong thing for somebody - and it’s usually at the expense of your own sanity, finances and the ones you love the most. Please look after yourself and your husband - especially if they do have family around to help.

twosoups1972 · 04/04/2019 11:54

Hi fuzzy thinking of you today, how is dh?

just you speak very wise words, I completely agree. How is everyone today? Hope the bug is packing its bags!

I have a fashion related dilemma - I bought a Mulberry bag on Brand Alley a few weeks ago just 'to see'. It's a Tessie small satchel in oxblood. It arrived this week and I really like it! And was obviously a good price. I do have a bit of a bag fetish and thought if I decided to keep it, I would sell another bag to justify the cost. Or I could just send it back....??

twosoups1972 · 04/04/2019 11:55

It's this one:

www.net-a-porter.com/gb/en/product/446397/mulberry/tessie-small-textured-leather-satchel

....but £100 less!

dontcallmelen · 04/04/2019 12:01

Soups tis lovely if you can afford it keep it, & as you say you could sell another bag to offset the cost then reckon it’s a win win👍🏼

Ellapaella · 04/04/2019 12:13

It's a lovely bag Soups. I'm not really a handbag person but that is a very nice bag and I can totally see the appeal. If you can afford it then go for it.

neveradullmoment99 · 04/04/2019 12:14

Keep if you love it :)

neveradullmoment99 · 04/04/2019 12:14

sell something else to justify it.

neveradullmoment99 · 04/04/2019 12:15

I love bags but I don't get the mulberry love tbh. I do love all my hush bags. I have about 4!!!

neveradullmoment99 · 04/04/2019 12:18

I have the star one with the chain strap, the camera bag style one with the star on it, the very small one which was got cause it was in the sale but its my least used, one that is a shopper that was a gift from my dh but I snagged it and its never been the same and my large one bought in the sale that I use for work. So actually that is 5 hush bags!

neveradullmoment99 · 04/04/2019 12:19

I absolutely love the hush snake print one but I really cannot justify it atm so hoping for a sale!!

neveradullmoment99 · 04/04/2019 12:20

I have bought a ukulele!!!! In blue. Going to learn how to play it. Its on my to do list. It doesn't come for a few days but im excited by my new venture!!

Ellapaella · 04/04/2019 12:24

I love the Hush Fifi bag actually. The trouble is having small DC and a dog I need a bag that I can shove sun cream, hats, dog poo bags, hand wipes, water bottles etc so a rucksack is more practical for me. I have a hobo style bag for work but I literally just carry it from the car to the office and don't pick it up again all day so no point buying an expensive one as no one ever sees it anyway.
I like the fifi bag because it's quite small and would be good as an evening bag.

I do like Mulberry bags though - nice classic styles. If I was going to invest in a bag it would probably be a mulberry.

Ooh Never we have 3 ukulele's in this house! I can't play it though. Eldest DS and DH both can. I play the piano and middle ds is learning the drums! Musical household here 🎼🎸🥁

OP posts:
neveradullmoment99 · 04/04/2019 12:39

I cant play anything but Ive always wanted to. My dd plays the keyboard. she is quite good at it. My ds has a ukulele that he got for his birthday and I promised that we would learn it together :)

ilovecherries · 04/04/2019 12:46

I'm not really a bag person, but even I can see that bag is a thing of beauty. How small is it in real life?
