What do you think of this red bag?

NigellasGuest · 08/03/2019 18:37

HERE

My aim is to have a classic black bag (got one), a nice nude toned bag (work in progress) and a red bag. That way, according to me, every eventuality andseason is covered. Would you like to give your opinion on linked red bag?? Thanks everyone in advance Thanks

I like the croc style leather but I’m afraid I wouldn’t spend that much on a Kopples bag. You’re nearly at £500 and you could get a better bag in the sales for that much money. I don’t think it would feel special enough; having said that if you love it, that’s all that matters.

NigellasGuest · 09/03/2019 07:51

Thanks Emilydickensons
What sort of much better bag in the sales could you get for £500? I never see anything, apart from Coach who do have gòod reductions but not necessarily the pieces I want. I looked on TK Max as suggested and there's nothing, just a few random bits.

It’s the wrong time to sale shop now but if you can wait until the summer sale you could get a bargain. Take a look at this link; most are sold out now but it gives you an idea of what was available.

Mulberry have good sales too.

If you want something ASAP, look at APC too. Plain but classic shapes.

smudgedlipstick · 09/03/2019 08:13

It's nice but I think it will date quite quickly to be honest, the toke of the gold is quite cheap looking for the price as well.. I think you get a much nicer statement bag for that amount that is more timeless

smudgedlipstick · 09/03/2019 08:16

And now I've caught up with the rest of the thread.. the first kopples one is very nice!!

Binkybix · 09/03/2019 08:58

I like the second Kopples one. The sale page that someone linked to didn’t have many classic bags. I do, however, love the clutch that looks like a bar!

Lucked · 09/03/2019 09:06

If you want a mini bag what about the Phillip Lim Pashli mini. Brand alley have a red one in your price range.

Ninkaninus · 09/03/2019 09:15

Oh god no,, I really don’t like it. Sorry... Sad

It will look very dated in a couple of years’ time. Too many very loud and over the top details, which together with the look and colour of the leather makes it look a bit cheap. It isn’t a classic bag, which for the price you’re looking to pay, would be one of my main considerations.

I’d look at Aspinal or Mulberry. Maybe De Mellier.

NigellasGuest · 09/03/2019 09:16

Thanks for the heads up, I had a look but those Pashli bags have too much going on for me. I like plain but not too plain if that makes sense. APC is too plain but again, thanks to PP who suggested it. Regarding the sale (now finished) on the my theresa site, there were some incredible discounts there! But not on anything I would have actually wanted. That's the trouble with sales Sad (often, not always. I got something I wanted in the Coach sale two years running).

The Outnet is great for picking up a bargain handbag. I watch and wait, bide my time and keep saving in the meantime, until the perfect one pops up! Smile

NigellasGuest · 09/03/2019 09:25

thanks for reminding me of Aspinal, I like this
I'm not keen on Mulberry generally, but will have a little look. I've heard the quality has gone down recently? Or am I imagining that...

And thanks for the Outnet reminder! Haven't bought from them for a while. I think they've had a few issues with customer service but again I might be dreaming that.

I might check Longchamp too, actually. Although I can’t remember what their current season is like.

NigellasGuest · 09/03/2019 09:28

De Melier - very nice! Nothing in red that grabs me but definitely one to watch.

Ninkaninus · 09/03/2019 09:31

That aspinal bag is one of the items on my ‘considering’ list! Smile

I also like their more boxy little croc leather bags (can’t remember the name now), I really want one in a dark green.

Sigh. So many bags, such limited financial resources... Grin

The Mulberry Darley is a perfect little evening bag IMO, although you might find it a little plain. On quality, eh, I think it’s more that some people find they’ve brought the price points up a bit too high for what you’re getting. But I’m very happy with the quality of the bags that I have. I’ve only bought in the last 6 years or so, though, so I can’t compare with the older stock.

Orchidflower1 · 09/03/2019 09:32

I think the Aspinal is far and away the nicest. It’s not what I’d choose ( too small for me is the only thing putting me off it) but it seems perfect for you if you travel light. I’m past the baby stage but need space for wipes, snacks and a hair brush! The aspinal has more going on without too fussy and much nicer strap than the chains originally.

Ninkaninus · 09/03/2019 09:33

There are quite a few good micro and mini styles at Mulberry, actually.

NigellasGuest · 09/03/2019 09:38

That Darley bag is nice actually. However, I've gone off a chain strap. (And totally gone off the Rixo BTW which is why it's so helpful to post on here to help with the thought processes)!

The Aspinal is my current favourite. I like quite a small bag. My youngest DC is 18 so wipes and snacks don't come into the equation thank God

OP posts:
NigellasGuest · 09/03/2019 09:41

Also, the Aspinal is the right price. Some I've looked at are edging towards the £1k mark. That budget is reserved for the Ferragamo bag I'm eyeing up but that's another story!!!

OP posts:
Ninkaninus · 09/03/2019 09:45

Haha yes, mine are adults now and it’s great!

I love small bags too, it’s freeing to not have to cart around a load of crap all the time.

Ninkaninus · 09/03/2019 11:10

Forgot to say that IMO red is a very difficult colour get just right, and one big plus for the aspinal bag is that it’s a nice, elegant, sophisticated red.

zucchinieggplant · 09/03/2019 11:11

What about this
www.demellierlondon.com/the-mini-berlin.html?color=395

zucchinieggplant · 09/03/2019 11:13

Sorry, I've just seen that it's sold out AND not as small as I thought
must do better

dudsville · 09/03/2019 11:39

The second two that you posted OP are wonderful!

And I had the same goals as you. I have a black, an oxblood and a neutral (though not tan/white) bag.

NigellasGuest · 09/03/2019 12:37

Small/medium is good.
I've just realised that you can't really see the size of the Aspinal one because it's not shown at all being carried by a model!

OP posts:
luckylavender · 09/03/2019 12:41

I much prefer the second one. The first is trying too hard.
