Really love that outfit. I don't like that type of blouse but it looks amazing on her, and the colours are great. Love the trousers and the bag. Finally losing the matronly look.

Gooseysgirl · 12/03/2019 18:04

Much better from Kate today - I thought she looked fantastic! And someone close to her MUST be reading this thread 😄 She looks fab in trousers (although if I'm being picky they were a bit too voluminous)

NearlySchoolTimeAgain · 12/03/2019 18:20

Was Kate’s blouse the wrong way round?

I've liked Kate's Wimbledon looks over the years, especially the yellow Dolce & Gabbana dress (2018, £1352).

Oh, I just saw that she also oddly wore another yellow dress of a similar length, again to Wimbledon in 2016 (Roksanda Ilinčić, £950 - a rewear from the Australia trip).

The Dolce looked great on her. Probably my favourite hair colour and hair length on her too!

Lovely shade of purple. Suits KM’s colouring very well as there’s not too much of it, and it suits navy very well. The design also really suits her, it gives her bulk and volume but skims in all the right places. Really good choice, and very good decision not to wear it with a skirt - would have made it really matronly.

I agree with PP, KM would suit tailored trousers much, much better than these wide legged trousers. Or just a little less wide legged. I would think this blouse would really shine with pencil pants; slim legged woollen pants; the mythical perfect pair of black/navy trousers. It would make this an outfit suited to a 37yo, rather than something even Catherine Deneuve could pull off.

Finally, I just wish the VB trouser length would stop. Such long hems make the wearer look short, or like Chewbacca, or like their safety pins fell out.

Actually this is the final point: I think KM, with a less ageing haircut, would look phenomenal in a 60s-look capri-pants + boat necked combo, a la Jackie O. She’d need to ditch the long layers and go for a length just below her shoulders, no bounce. She’d look so much more youthful.

Love this look on Kate. Pussy bow blouses are my absolute favourite. She looks immaculately groomed too. Hair, nails, make up and outfit are all spot on. Can't see her shoes though, so can't comment on them sadly.

user1457017537 · 12/03/2019 18:46

NearlySchoolTimeAgain yes I think it it definitely the wrong way round. Buttons should go up the back.

I don’t think Kate should cut her hair. I dislike bob length and love longer hair.

Re the tripping over length of trousers it really bothers me how mucky they must get dragging dirt around on the trailing hems. Yuck

Disfordarkchocolate · 12/03/2019 18:50

I love the colour but the now just screams Margaret Thatcher to me. Not a style icon more an evil witch.

beanaseireann · 12/03/2019 18:59

I'll probably get sent to the Tower the next time I set foot on British soil for saying this but isn't the Queen Mother a very ordinary looking, dumpy little woman. To me she looks a little ridiculous in glittering tiaras and diamond jewellery.
I'm sure the princes at the time had a choice of women in the "upper echelons of society"
We've read about all the aristocratic bed hopping at country estate's weekend parties.
Nobody else catch George/Alberts eye ?
He seems to have led a far less racy life than Edward.

BettyBooJustDoinTheDoo · 12/03/2019 19:00

I’m glad to see Kate in something more modern and fashion forward for once, she looks much better than the last time she wore wide legged trousers with that awful green jacket and cream body which did nothing for her whatsoever, this look really is more Charlie’s Angels, so much better, wish she had gone slightly more 70’s on the hair though like these pictures

Yes, she was fairly ordinary looking @beanaseireann but had loads of charisma and was a very strong character. Basically, exactly the sort of woman Bertie needed.

Apparently the Duchesses of Windsor and Kent both thought her rather plain and dumpy!

I don't like the hat (Meghans) it's a bit 50s Nurse

But I love the rest of the outfit

Trust the Daily Mail to make it a big deal that she was moved by a good performance by a good singer Hmm

BartonHollow · 12/03/2019 19:18

That's a comment from yesterday LOL BlushGrin

DontCallMeCharlotte · 12/03/2019 19:25

Agree about the fashion for floppy trousers - on anyone - but that blouse is heavenly.

BlingLoving · 12/03/2019 19:28

For those of you who like a pussy bow blouse, havr you come across Tabitha Webb? Pretty out there patterns but some are great.

Kate looked.fab. I am so pleased to see her embracing trousers. Also practical as I think she was sitting on the floor in one video I saw! Agree they are too long though.

user1457017537 · 12/03/2019 19:34

Rather unkind comments re Queen Mother

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 12/03/2019 19:38

To pp, no I am not Kate! But I am thrilled that she has stepped out of her comfort zone.
Perhaps we can help her with ideas for formal daywear which aren’t coat dresses!

She should definitely go more 70s with her dressing.
(Jaclyn Smith is still gorgeous)
Kate should look to Halston; 1970s YSL.
In the same way that the late 50s / early 60s vibe suits Meghan; mid 70s is great for Kate.

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 12/03/2019 19:42

This is Halston. I have seen Kate in something similar. ( one shouldered evening dress)

Does Anyone recognise this lady?

(I’ll give you a clue. She’s a Queen)

QueenOfTheAndals · 12/03/2019 19:55

That's Queen Noor of Jordan isn't it? She must be pushing 70 now? She's had a lot of work done!

OP posts:
CurlyWurlyTwirly · 12/03/2019 19:59

Yes. I was a bit shocked. She was stunning and has now gone the way of all New York socialités of a certain age....

Paradyning · 12/03/2019 19:59

Agreed. Think that's Noor. Stay away from the surgeons people.
Queen of Sweden is beginning to have this look. And Charlene sadly.

QueenOfTheAndals · 12/03/2019 20:12

Noor actually looks a bit like Rania there. Maybe they get a 2 for 1 deal with the same surgeon!
