mother this is an easy one for me. Chanel 19 for any time, Heeley Sel Marin for summer, Miller Harris LDR for autumn/winter. Done.

MotherOfDragonite · 20/03/2019 22:47

Ooh, I'm going to have to look all of those up, Judy! I didn't like the saltiness of the Miller Harris L'Eau Magnetic, so not sure about whether I'd like the Sel Marin... but the bergamot sounds nice.

I tried AT Carillon Pour Un Ange this evening and after smelling lovely before applying it, sadly it was then really and truly disgusting on me. It smelled just like sweaty socks in the gym lockers at school! I am so not a fan. It's been 4+ hours now and although the scent has evolved from a point where I felt I wanted to wash it off instantly, it's still not good on me at all. I think my body chemistry does weird (bad weird) things to lily of the valley fragrances.

ACDD, LADDM and Maroc Pour Elle all smelled absolutely divine on me, on the other hand, and Rose de Kandahar was also lovely if not my favourite. It's very hard to decide whether I prefer ACDD or LADDM, I love them both so much!

CountFosco · 20/03/2019 23:00

Oh, top three?

Dryad
Bois Naufrage
Clinique Happy (not quite first love, that was probably Impulse) but it's not stable enough so at the moment Live in Love is hitting those floral notes for me.

But I probably need a floral oriental as well.

Georgianfairy · 21/03/2019 07:43

After Mother's description yesterday I'm in LADDM. I think it might be a bit much for the office but I just wafted my wrists in the spray so hopefully it won't be too overpowering!

Rose de Kandehar is my favourite AT so far, I think it's beautiful! I tried Rose Chypree yesterday and that was nice but not a favourite for me I don't think. I do really appreciate the quality and complexity of the AT fragrances, but I'm not sure that I actually like the smell of the component that's common to so many of them, the 'Tauerade'.

Georgianfairy · 21/03/2019 07:46

Hmm top 3 is difficult!!

At this present moment:
AT Phi une rose de kandehar
The fcuk polished whipped body cream (sadly discontinued)
Armani Si

teta · 21/03/2019 09:01

My top three:

Cristalle edp in spring/ summer/ autumn.
California Reverie by Van Cleef & Arpels in summer.
Eau d Iparie by L Occitane for winter.

Had to think about this as Wrappings should possibly be in this list too.

Calmasasleepycat · 21/03/2019 11:13

Difficult to keep it to only three perfumes, so I’ve overthought this by choosing what would be good on a hot, sandy desert island. 🏝 So that means no heavy gourmands, orientals, or skank. I also need to have three very different ones so that I have a good choice. My top three are:

Tauer - Au Coeur du Desert (dry, resinous, sweet, spicy, haunting)
4160Tuesdays - Eat Flowers (glorious florals and iris)
L’Artisan Parfumeur - Mure et Musc (perfumed blackberries and musk with a bit of citrus and lots of waft-ability)

I really, really wanted to choose Cristalle or Chanel No 19 as well, but might have to smuggle it in my underwear 😀.

teta · 21/03/2019 11:45

Anyone signed the Revoke50 petition apart from me?
I’ve just had the most delicious drink to try and cheer myself up from these strange days! Rhythm Mango and Passion fruit Kefir made from Coconut milk. I may well have to spritz with Clinique Calyx to match the fruit.

MotherOfDragonite · 21/03/2019 13:49

Yes teta, I've signed it too.

Oh calm, you've really thought this through in terms of the deserty-ness of the island! Grin I used to love Mure et Musc when I was in my twenties, I'd forgotten about it. You know how sometimes a scent just reminds you so much of a particular time in your life, though? I don't know if I could go back there, not because it's not lovely but because it's so stuck in time for me.

I just passed a SpaceNK at lunchtime and tried out Tom Ford Noir and Commodity Gold. One on each wrist! TF Noir is very wearable. Not at all what I would have thought a scent called 'Noir' would smell like, somehow, but rather a nutty vanilla with a soft sandalwood/jasmine running through it. I loved Commodity Gold, I thought initially that it was an inoffensive light nectar scent but it is currently drying down into a gorgeous slightly smokey vanilla. One for my wishlist, along with Velvet.

67chevvyimpala · 21/03/2019 14:14

Ive signed.

Hoping to go on the March.

Only 3...
Sigh.
Ok. Well, today my 3 would be;

AT incense extreme

4160 tuesdays sexiest scent on the planet ever

Mmm by the fireplace

MaudBaileysGreenTurban · 21/03/2019 14:51

I can't do only three!

Probably LADDM
Maybe Memoirs of a Trespasser
Maybe Bois Naufrage or Philosykos or Debaser; something figgy

Calmasasleepycat · 21/03/2019 15:17

Mother I know what you mean about scents being stuck in time. For me, those are Caleche, Cabochard (the modern formulations are not as good as they were, though) and Diorissimo (still wonderful). For someone in their twenties, they were real powerhouses (!), but fashionable at the time.

teta, I voted Remain, having worked on EU projects with wonderful European partners, and felt that we should work on improving things from within the union rather than outside. However, I feel uncomfortable about going against the democratic decision of the referendum. If that could just be overturned, what is the point of asking the electorate in the first place? I am very worried about the current chaos, though. DH voted Brexit, so we cancelled each other out!

teta · 21/03/2019 15:50

I hear what you’re saying Calm. I live in a rural area and many of the farmers voted to leave for local reasons. They have now changed their mind totally. I think we need another vote but temporarily i would settle for calling a halt to the whole thing.

KaliforniaDreamz · 21/03/2019 16:04

WOnder if anyone has named a perfume Brexit yet?

KaliforniaDreamz · 21/03/2019 16:04

and what would it smell like?

MotherOfDragonite · 21/03/2019 16:04

I went through phases where I wore Nina Ricci L'Air du Temps, Burberry Weekend, a couple of L'Artisan Parfumeur scents including Mure et Musc and Premier Figuier. CK One as a teenager, obv! Also a short flirtation with Coco Mademoiselle. And Chloe Intense, which was beautiful and annoyingly stopped smelling good on me right after I'd bought two more bottles.

Basically, I had no cohesive taste or idea of what I liked or what would suit me.

Lotsofpots · 21/03/2019 16:08

Yeah I've signed it, and am hoping to take my boys on their first ever March this weekend (was either heavily pregnant or with a tiny baby for earlier ones).

I completely understand the point about going back on a democratic decision but I think the true spirit of democracy would be to allow us to have a say now we all know the detail, of what leaving looks like. Particularly as the government have been pressing ahead as if there was an overwhelming majority in the initial referendum result - which there wasn't. I think it's right everyone, including remainers, gets a say on what 'leave' looks like, if indeed we do.

MotherOfDragonite · 21/03/2019 16:09

Calm, I also voted Remain. It feels as if the main difficulty right now is that the Leave option included absolutely no details on the terms on which people would want to leave. I think at a minimum we should have a chance to vote on the reality, perhaps with transferable votes.

Lotsofpots · 21/03/2019 16:11

mother now I need to try gold and velvet! They sound right up by street. I like commodity book a lot, if you've not tried it.

Top three? Something for the hot sun, something gourmand and a smokey rose. Will narrow down further...

Oh chevvy your parcel arrived today - thank you! x

67chevvyimpala · 21/03/2019 16:25

Great!
Let me know what you think!

1frenchfoodie · 21/03/2019 17:30

I signed it too teta , I live and work in another EU member and hate that rights that are likely to be protected for me as a current resident wont be extended to new arrivals. And the PM’s speech hardly helped bring people together.

Hmm 3. For now Naomi Goodsir bois naufragé, Pierre Guillaume bois d’ascène and Comme des garçons inscense jasmailer. But I am fickle.

Georgianfairy · 21/03/2019 18:33

Yep, I signed this morning and shared on my fb. I was so disappointed at the result of the referendum and I still desperately do not want to leave the EU. I was reading an article this week about the effects on the Erasmus scheme and it made me so sad to think that future students won't get to experience it. My year in France was genuinely life-changing.

CountFosco · 21/03/2019 19:22

I don't think it's democratic to lead the country into a shitstorm that a minority of the population voted for. 17M in a country of 66M.

SotD Archives 69 again.

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 21/03/2019 22:44

Loving reading the top threes. SOTD Coureges Hyperbole.

I went to sniff Diorissimo after trying the Tauer lily of the valley. It was locked away, all dusty, and the assistant said she had never had anyone ask for it before.

I also voted Remain - the only people I actually know who voted Leave are my mother, her husband, and MIL. I do, however, agree with calm - the people voted, regardless of what they were voting for in the end, and I am really uncomfortable with the idea of going against the vote. I was gutted at the results of the Scottish independence referendum, but feel the same way about that.

67chevvyimpala · 21/03/2019 22:51

It's not undemocratic to overturn a vote that was advisory, broke electoral laws and was funded by dark money and influenced by Russia.

And that's all I have to say about that.
