Previous thread

And I shouldn't have to say this anymore but will do so for any newbies - let's keep our critiquing to the clothes and not the women wearing them.

I guess they charge as they need to transport the flowers and deliver them.

PinkSun9 · 22/02/2019 18:55

You seem to know a lot about Repeatrose so I wonder why you didn't mention that they collect the flowers, pull apart big arrangements and make them into smaller bouquets of flowers and then distribute to various charities around.on behalf of the donor. All this involves having a place to work in, transport, staff, insurance etc. That is covered by the fee they charge people to take away the flower arrangements, some of which are huge corporate ones to dismantle then into smaller bouquet.

" .... one thing to have personally distributed flowers to the charity near her heart .. . ". Really?

QueenOfTheAndals · 22/02/2019 18:58

That makes more sense @PinkSun9. So it isn't like they're just a taxi service for flowers. They'll have to charge to cover their overheads as they're a charity not a voluntary service.

This in reponse to Rosewater20's two comments above.

QueenOfTheAndals · 22/02/2019 19:01

Anyway, an extravagant baby shower is just a drop in the ocean considering some other royals shenanigans. Cheating spouses, dressing as a Nazi, wanting to be a tampax, being matey with paedophiles, the list goes on. Meghan's spending habits are nothing compared to those!

BartonHollow · 22/02/2019 19:04

For Profit Businesses that also promote a socially aware 'pay it forward' ethos are a growing and popular business model in the US

(I watch Shark Tank A LOT Blush)

TOMs shoes and Bombas socks off the top of my head

For every pair sold they donate etc

BartonHollow · 22/02/2019 19:09

But it's not HER spending Confused that's what's really puzzling me about responses

Seneca told us that the shower is hosted by the Mum to be's FRIENDS

In this case it was hosted by Serena and others - they booked the hotel, they paid for the flowers, the jet was Amal Clooneys

She's a woman who unsurprisingly has rich mates who threw her a party, I'd be surprised if she contributed a penny

It's not like Serena needs to ask her to chip in a tenner for some Sausage Rolls and Iced Buns

Fucksake Hmm

BlingLoving · 22/02/2019 19:09

Meghan wasn't a household name but she was well known. I know a LOT of people who watched suits and certainly when her relationship with Harry broke a lot of people already knew who she was.

QueenOfTheAndals · 22/02/2019 19:14

True @BartonHollow, I just mean the general view that Meghan spends a lot, though not necessarily on this trip. Which to be honest is mainly promoted by the Mail. They ALL spend a lot so I don't know why only she is singled out.

As you say, Serena can more than afford it. God knows she's worked bloody hard for her money and knows a thing or two about being a WOC in the public eye!

As I get older, the more I think my mum had it right: “say nothing, to anyone, about anything. No good will come of it.” (She wasn’t talking about member of the RF, just life in general Grin)

The British media, which exist only because of British people who buy it because they want it, poke and prod and provoke and stir. Who wants anything to do with that? Despite the pretty frocks and jewels, it’s all so ugly and hypocritical and sullied and downright nasty underneath.

PinguDance · 22/02/2019 19:26

I haven’t been on this thread for ages before today (I read but then get her up and defensive over Meghan so ignore it for a while). Anyway last time I was on there was some chat about Princess Margaret and Queen asked if I had read Ma’am Darling - I did over Christmas and after reading that MM giving some flowers to charity really seems like a non - issue 😂

QueenOfTheAndals · 22/02/2019 19:28

I think if there was ever a contest for most extravagant royal in recent history then Margaret would win every time!

IdaBWells · 22/02/2019 19:31

The Queen Mum must have been very close behind then Grin!

user1457017537 · 22/02/2019 19:40

They were extravagant but they didn’t virtue signal, or use cancer stricken children to make their charitable efforts look good.

SenecaFalls · 22/02/2019 19:52

They were extravagant but they didn’t virtue signal, or use cancer stricken children to make their charitable efforts look good.

I work for a charity, or as we call it in the US, a nonprofit, and we receive donated flowers almost every week. Sometimes they are even designated to go to staff areas. Every time I see one of those bouquets, it gives me a lift. Someone has thought of the people we serve, and also of us and appreciates what we do. I certainly don't feel used.

PinguDance · 22/02/2019 19:54

I'd argue the RF are pretty much the front runners in virtue signalling seeing as they've been doing it for decades now Wink Pretty much all they do is charitable stuff to make their lives of enormous wealth and privilege seem more acceptable.

Altho to be fair to them I think Prince Charles and Andrew occasionally do something useful like facilitate arms deals... so....

rosewater20 · 22/02/2019 20:40

PinkSun9: No, I didn't mention it because my complaint isn't with the organisation (as I said, I think it is a lovely idea) but rather I don't like the optics of this PR stunt on MM's side.

I have the exact same criticism for other members of the royal family and have made it clear in multiple posts in these threads how vulgar I find their spending. The only pass I give for Camilla, the Queen and KM is that their clothing needs to be of quality because it will one day be on display for the public to see and therefore can't be cheap clothing that falls apart in the meantime.

VanillaSugarr · 22/02/2019 20:48

Anyway..... back to the clothes...

EstrellaDamn · 22/02/2019 20:52

Haha love your optimism vanillasugar

VanillaSugarr · 22/02/2019 20:53

VanillaSugarr · 22/02/2019 20:53

There’s always hope. And shoes.

Paradyning · 22/02/2019 20:55

Right. Here's a picture of Max in a stonking tiara. Almost giving side eye.
Reset everyone.

Becles · 22/02/2019 21:01

@Paradyning That is a beautiful look on Max. Love it.

Do you think we could have a thread timeshare tiara? We could then have a tontine to work out whether last woman standing gets it or if we pass it along to our families.

kooshbin · 22/02/2019 21:03

Oh, my, Paradyning, that tiara is just incredible.

Have you got a pic showing Max's dress as well?

Paradyning · 22/02/2019 21:10

It's her inauguration gown It was amazing with the cape.

www.hellomagazine.com/royalty/2015031968337/queen-maxima-recycles-her-inauguration-gown-during-visit-to-denmark/

I don't thinkQueen Bea wore the tiara with the sapphires either, just the diamonds. So it was a surprise when Max stepped out in it
