Mary, Mary, quite contrary, how does your lady garden grow?

So I’ve become a bit obsessed with this lately as let’s be honest when do you ever see other people’s real life lady gardens? So time for a straw poll:

Are you a bare naked kinda lady? Landing strip? Wide berth? Trimmed? Au naturel?

The media makes out it’s weird to have public hair. I’m thinking naked truth on channel 4, hair removal adverts, you name it. But what is the majority status quo? Do most women these days really remove all their hair? I’m taking the above examples as an unrepresentative sample of the population considering if you choose to go on a tv show and have your naked body scrutinised you will probably not go on there without some grooming for show.

So hit me Grin

I’ll go first. I reserve bikini waxes for high days and holidays. I don’t shave as I get awful awful shaving rash. So I trim from time to time, but I am most definitely not neat and tidy. I do wax my legs and my eyebrows and shave my armpits regularly. Dh doesn’t care about the state of down there so I don’t bother doing that much but now I’m really self conscious when I use shared swimming changing rooms terrified of being judged by the bare waxers out there!

I'm intrigued! What cream do people recommend for the nether regions?
Is it hard to get all the straggly bits round the bum area? 😶

LellyMcKelly · 10/02/2019 23:56

Trim around the edges and depending on how I’m feeling ill sometimes whip a bit more off. When it’s full DP calls it my winter plumage. He is happy with whatever topiary is going on that week. I much prefer a fully plumaged man. Nobody wants to fiddle about with something that resembles the last chicken in Sainsbury’s.

Dh (42) and i (45) leave our fluff alone, much prefere the silky softness of our/each-other pubic hair regions. Elsewhere, well i am not very hairy, so not an issue really.

Sunflower6 · 11/02/2019 21:30

For those of you who shave do just use a ordinary razor or a bikini trimmer? I'm getting fed up of waxing as it only seems to last 1-2 weeks at best before the regrowth starts

SandraTheBee · 20/02/2019 08:28

I keep the edges neat- but never in my life has any man mentioned my bush- i’m 51.
I have a new-ish partner, last weekend he asked me if I ever shaved.
He said he would if I did. I told him I didn’t like the idea of having sex with a set pre pubescent looking tackle.
It flummoxed me but now i’m worried that my neatly trimmed nethers are infact too hairy?

I know the thread was more about pubic hair but I read this interesting article about how we perceive ourselves/ our vaginas

Wax here but mainly as I didn’t want ‘spider legs’ poking out when swimming and I struggled with shaving and waxing at home and so “all off” at salon saves the debate. It’s for me though I guess I could ask them to leave a bit behind. I’d like a little bit but I’m knocking on now so maybe it’ll give up the ghost soon anyway!

My lady garden grows wild and free. Grin I don't shave my legs, and the last time I did my armpits I came out in a rash so I'm probably going to stop doing that too. (I'm 30.)

happymummy12345 · 23/02/2019 00:46

For me I keep completely smooth, all shaved off. Can't stand hair at all

StarlightLady · 23/02/2019 11:57

In my 40s snd completely smooth. Mix of Veet (for half the tecommended time) and shaving with hair conditioner. I used to go for waxes but disliked the regrowth times.

I don’t do it for any man, I do it for me. For starters, it increases sensitivity.

My body does not resemble a pre pubescent child any more than a man who shaves his face does.

Sophiemtb · 23/02/2019 12:30

I prefer either a neat landing strip or completely smooth. I shave my armpits and either wax or shave my legs. Personally I just prefer to be smooth, as I find that it feels much cleaner. I don't mind if my pubic hair is short and tidy, but I don't like it overgrown. Never really thought about what guys prefer, I just do it for myself.

higgyhog · 23/02/2019 13:08

I change my mind every few years, after not bothering for a long time - because DH said he preferred that - I went and got it nearly all waxed off. It was not at all painful, just like pulling off a plaster really. I went to a specialist waxing salon where they do nothing else. DH was surprisingly appreciative and it has done our sex life no end of good.
