WHy did I ever give up black clothing?

I am currently sorting through my closet and decluttering etc.

Everything in black looks bloody lovely. I have wasted loads of money over the years trying navy, charcoal, beige etc. Nothing looks better than black frankly.

Anyone else having this dawning realisation? Have we been sold a crock for years?

Depends on the colouring. As a winter, black suits me very much. But I see people who look washed out in black.

I concur!

I saw someone in a beige sort of catsuit/jumpsuit type thing recently and they looked completely naked from a distance. I don't think all over beige is a good look for anyone, even if it suits you I think it needs to be broken up with other colours.

Black is an easy choice but I prefer navy. I’ve given up on black as it only works if I’m tanned - so 25% of the year if that.
Many people think they look good in black but I beg to differ 😬

Black is lush. Can be dressed up so easily. Love it.

Also love green in khaki and olive and other colours but mainly black, khaki, white and natural/stone in summer. I've never moved away from black.

Alot further down thread a pp and I agreed a dark chocolate brown is nice. Quite a few years ago I tried on a dark brown coat and it looked really nice. Not as dark as dark chocolate brown, just a nice brown, and I didn't buy it because couldn't afford it. I still console myself that it probably wouldn't fit now or suit me. It was by one of the debenhams designers John ? I think, £40ish and half price. Also tried on a Mac type coat in brown in m&s and that looked nice too but thought unlikely I'd wear it.

John Rocha?

Opposite here!

After attending a number of funerals in a short space of time, I vowed the opposite, never to wear black again. I also realised it aged me. I don't own anything black now.

I have lots of navy blue though!

Scandal yes thank you. It had a texture/pattern (but all same colour) to it if I remember correctly.

Can’t do black, and find that unless it’s very expensive it fades pretty quick anyway (and then just looks cheap)

Navy however is perfect for my skin tone, doesn’t fade as obviously and makes me feel great.

Thing is there's black and then there's black. 🤔
