Here we go again, and as always say what you like about the clothes but keep it civil re the wearers of said clothes!

Charlene looks like Professor Snape Confused

Laiste · 27/01/2019 16:09

Has anyone suggested Rachel, if it's a girl? Meghan's real first name.

Rachel Isadora. I like that.

desertgirl · 27/01/2019 16:22

Rachel is pretty but she used to be called by it and changed to her middle name, apparently - which suggests it isn’t her favorite name. Though I guess she might have changed.

Mmmhmmokdear · 27/01/2019 16:38

I like Rania's dress!

Charlene - two misses love, sorry! The long boots didn't go with either outfit I'm afraid. Professor Snape, arf!

I love Adelaide or Sophie or Alexandra for baby Sussex.

SenecaFalls · 27/01/2019 17:00

I like Rachel but that was also her character's name in Suits so I think it an unlikely choice.

Laiste · 27/01/2019 17:43

Ah i didn't know that Seneca. Unlikely choice then certainly.

What an irritating coincidence for her to end up being famous for playing a character who's name you've decided against being called in RL!

Twisique · 27/01/2019 17:54

I hope they go for something not used in recent years, Henrietta or Octavia, Antonia, Euphemia or Frederica.

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 27/01/2019 18:49

I was thinking about the Archie name for George.
Perhaps it’s for security reasons and he’s known as Archie at school, so he cannot be spotted easily. ( all in the same uniform and loads of little blond boys). If no one called him George, none of the other children would be able to point him out.

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 27/01/2019 18:58

I was reading a bit about letters patent again. Second son of Eldest grandson of Monarch.
This was the case for the Queens father George V1. He was actually born a Prince; Albert in 1895, as letters patent of 1917 created by his father, George V, changed the RFs name from German to Windsor and limited all the extraneous Princes & Princesses. So Prince Bertie came in under the wire.
Also, I quote from here
When the current Prince of Wales was born in 1948, George VI acknowledged his daughter’s place as heir presumptive by giving his grandson the title of Prince. Without the 1948 Letters Patent, the baby would have been known as the Honourable Charles Mountbatten, Earl of Merioneth until his mother’s ascension to the throne

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 27/01/2019 19:00

So I think if baby Sussex is a boy, he will only be an honorable; not à Lord.

QueenOfTheAndals · 27/01/2019 19:04

I don't think so. Sons of Dukes are usually Earls or Lords, not mere Honourables.

OP posts:
LaurenOrdering · 27/01/2019 19:07

Surely he'll be a Lord as his Father is a Duke?

LaurenOrdering · 27/01/2019 19:07

X post there Smile

QueenOfTheAndals · 27/01/2019 19:08

I don't think that blogger is right. Charles would've got his title from his father, who was DoE, so at the least he would've been a Lord and not an Honourable.

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 27/01/2019 19:23

I had a look, and James Severn is a Lord but that is an anomaly because technically he should be a Prince.
Sons of Royal Dukes are Lords, but second sons of non royal Earls are Hon. (Like Charles Spencer’s younger sons)

Clionba · 27/01/2019 19:24

Yes, he would have been a lord, and Earl of Chester as one of his father's lesser titles.

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 27/01/2019 19:28

Another shot of Charlene today.
She definitely looks like one of the clergy

QueenOfTheAndals · 27/01/2019 19:30

Albert looks such a boring old 💨!

OP posts:
CurlyWurlyTwirly · 27/01/2019 19:30

I agree Charles would have been a Lord; but Chester is one of his own titles.
Phillip’s subsidiary titles are Earl of Merioneth and Baron Greenwich

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 27/01/2019 19:33

So what happens to the Cambridge title when William & Kate become Prince & Princess of Wales. Does it revert to the Crown until George or Louis get married?

Clionba · 27/01/2019 19:33

Right, Curly, thanks.
Baby Sussex will be Lord x Mountbatten Windsor, Earl of Dumbarton or Lady x etc without her own subsidiary title.
Meghan may not like that!

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 27/01/2019 19:36

Grand Duchess Marie Theresa looking very sharp at a conference.
The short hair really suits her.

Clionba · 27/01/2019 19:45

It does - that's a good look for MT. I like the monochrome paired with the huge jade earrings.

QueenOfTheAndals · 27/01/2019 19:55

Baby Sussex will be Lord x Mountbatten Windsor, Earl of Dumbarton or Lady x etc without her own subsidiary title.

No, it looks like if it's a boy he'll be Lord X Mountbatten-Windsor OR X Mountbatten-Windsor, Earl of Dumbarton without the Lord. That's how the eldest sons of the dukes of Kent and Gloucester are styled.

Paradyning
Why not Thomas?

Because of family issues I would rule out Michael and Frederick too (they are Thomas' brothers).

I wonder about Angela or Harriet or Dorothea for a girl. Angela was one of the Queen Mother's middle names, and it harkens to Los Angeles, though it's not a popular name or a classic either. The Queen Mother's mother was Cecelia. (Too many Ss with Sussex?). Her father was Claude - maybe Claudia? His mother was Frances Dora Smith (though also in that line of the family were the Mosles).

One of the Queen Mother's brothers was killed in WW1 - Fergus.

Henrietta is a gorgeous name imo - would be very ice.
Maybe it's time to revive Margaret?
