Completely missed the ball with the previous thread so hope this thread is easy enough to find!

I think Meghan looks good and as for the bare legs I can see people not liking the look but it not cold today and I'm just outside London. So I don't think they are needed for anything other than style.

As for stylist I'd rather Meghan get tips from the European royals than Kate personally. Kate can knock it out of the park yes but she has a fair few misses to for me anyway but then I hate coat dresses so....

QueenOfTheAndals · 16/01/2019 16:30

Well quite @AFifthOfKoolAid. And today it's Meghan in the inexpensive high street dress and Kate in the ££££ designer suit. Will the likes of the DM notice? I don't see the issue with bare legs either - they're hardly traipsing to the tube and then waiting at a freezing bus stop!

Lovely the colours on Meghan today and the bare legs too, but the length of the dress is too short - below the knee or mid-calf would have been so much more stylish.

Like others I think the outfit is a strange choice for the destination, trousers or even leather leggings and a cosy jumper would have been far more suitable.

Whitney168 · 16/01/2019 16:31

Joining in the thread with what will sound like a bitch, but just a comment (I like them both and think both regularly look fabulous) ...

Such a difference between the very slim Meghan and Kate - Kate obviously very slim, but athletic and toned, with appropriate muscle.

Meghan's legs look awful to me, I'm afraid, no muscle tone there at all. I take it she is not a fan of exercise?

AFifthOfKoolAid · 16/01/2019 16:34

Meghan does yoga and is evidently very fit. What is "appropriate muscle" for a duchess?

LaurenOrdering · 16/01/2019 16:35

When I was heavily pregnant in the Winter, I was so blooming hot that I wore no socks or tights. I wore my coat open, that's if I wore a coat. (Had to reach 10C or below before the coat appeared!)

Bloominglovely · 16/01/2019 16:36

In Meghan's shoes, I would never borrow any of Kate's maternity clothes or any of her clothes for that matter. I can already see the side by side photos captioned Who wore it better.

SenecaFalls · 16/01/2019 16:36

It depends on the type of exercise. Kate likely works out with weights, which builds muscle definition. I think Meghan must do some form of exercise to stay as slim as she is.

Rhubarbisevil · 16/01/2019 16:36

Hi, just a friendly reminder that AIBU is the best place for that sort of thing.

AdaColeman · 16/01/2019 16:37

Meghan doesn't look appropriate for the event, her dress is too short and too tight, the bare legs and high heels in the middle of January! I'm not keen on those beige/cream layers either.

I like Kate's outfit, she wears the rich colour very well. I like the suit, the detail in the covered buttons, the tucks, the waist. It's as though she's wearing a costume herself, maybe she's having a joke with the ROH costumiers!

Whitney168 · 16/01/2019 16:37

Interesting, AFifthOfKoolAid, her legs just look skin and bone to me.

Appropriate maybe the wrong word and not 'for a Duchess' at all, but for Kate's size I meant.

Whitney168 · 16/01/2019 16:39

Love that red suit on Kate, itswinetime.

Anapurna · 16/01/2019 16:40

The Duchess of Sussex has great legs.

Paradyning · 16/01/2019 16:46

I have a theory about Kate in that she always messes up at least one thing with an outfit. Usually accessory-wise. Today would be the shoes. Other days belt buckles it colour.

Paradyning · 16/01/2019 16:47

*or colour

QueenOfTheAndals · 16/01/2019 16:50

her legs just look skin and bone to me.

Let's keep this about the clothes, shall we? Both duchesses have enviable figures as far as I can see!

DobbyTheHouseElk · 16/01/2019 16:57

I wouldn’t mind.any of those legs. But I’m not going to comment, my legs are chubby.

Bloominglovely · 16/01/2019 17:05

Mine are chubby too DobbyTheHouseElk. And pale and pink. Like bloody sides of ham unfortunately! So attractive!

MakeItAmazing · 16/01/2019 17:13

Bordering on the picking on that Diana used to get in the media.

beanaseireann · 16/01/2019 17:20

I think Meghan has amazingly skinny legs, like Angelina Jolie.

I love Kate's suit - both colour and style are fab on her.
I think shoes in plain black suede would be nicer. The gold on the black isn't good.

I think Meghan has a "pregnant Kardashian" vibe about her today. Totally different to her normal style.
I'm not sure it was venue appropriate though

Spudlet · 16/01/2019 17:20

Trust me, if Megan does yoga her legs will be as strong as anyone's! I wonder if she still manages to practice in a class (a pregnancy one at the moment of course!). I hope she can.

£25 on a dress is excellent work. Maybe she's been on these threads. Wonder what she'll wear tonight?

Lelivre · 16/01/2019 17:22

I’m Kate’s height and often find the waist and hem sitting a little bit to high and the sleeve a touch too short and that’s how her suit looks to me, especially the jacket. I find the length of the skirt is bit dated in any case.

MM dress and coat is much more to my taste; I agree a bit more length would have transformed it for the better. Dressing a bump is not easy, dresses are going to ride up.

Paradyning · 16/01/2019 17:23

I've already looked to but MM's dress today but alas my legs are trop gross I think.

Paradyning · 16/01/2019 17:23

Ffs. Looked to buy!

7salmonswimming · 16/01/2019 17:26

Love that cream coat - oh to be able to wear cream and not worry about toddler hands or tube dirt or whatever! She’s got great gold jewelry, a golden bangle or long necklace would have looked nice.

Dress would have looked a whole lot better with flat shoes, but meh. She will have been there an hour tops. I’d have taken them off in the car.

Kate channeling the 80s too much with that skirt, those shoes, those tights. She just needed a scrunchie or a Sloane Ranger headband.

You know, it probably takes them at least 2-3 hours to plan and prepare/have people prepare your outfit, do your hair, do your make up. All for an hour or so on show. I don’t know how they don’t get frustrated with the futility of it. So much time wasted on looks, not enough spent on the projects themselves. Between the engagements, children (nannies notwithstanding), other family relationships, friends, exercise, being pregnant, overseeing renovations however tangentially, managing your public image, and all the rest of it, time must pass so fast. Doing what, one wonders.... Tehyre basically housewives doing a bit of voluntary work on the side. Nothing wrong with that, of course, but that’s what it must boil down to for them. Kate has a working mum who’s built her own business. Meghan comes from working/middle class backgrounds and has been a grafter herself. Wonder if they mind doing so little now.
