Is anyone going grey this year?

I've grew my colour out a few times over the years. The only thing that annoyed me was how patchy it looked, it's white at the front and sides, getting darker towards the back. I'm naturally dark brown.
It looked a bit daft (imho) because I had a very short pixie cut.
I decided to try to grow my layers longer and went dark from bleached platinum.
The last couple of days I've been bleaching again because Ive decided to see how my colour grows out and would prefer not to have the skunk line.
Whether I stick to it is another matter HmmGrin

I had a small number of highlights along my parting in July, and I intend that to be the last time I dye my hair. I was 50 in August.

The highlights were really helpful in growing it out - I looked like a tortoiseshell cat on close inspection, with varying dyes over the previous year getting lighter and lighter, but no-one really noticed that as people look at your face and they just saw the blonde bit at the front.

I reckon in two cuts the highlights will hopefully be gone and then it will just be natural.

I would prefer to still be the dark brown with red tones I think of as 'me', but without fortnightly maintenance that just isn't possible. I don't want to be blonde - so grey it is, and we'll see how it goes. If I hate it, I'll do something else, but I don't think I will.

I stopped dyeing my hair at the end of 2017 so have had just over a year of being grey. I love the colour I've gone (see photo attached) but it still startles me when I see my reflection unexpectedly!

I am. My hairs really long. I’m 32 and it’s about 1/2 white and wiry against my natural black.

Only dyed it 3 weeks ago Blush Doesn’t hold colour any more and I’m too lazy.

@Puppylucky Oh you’re hair is gorgeous!!

Puppylucky · 08/01/2019 17:31

Thank you Coco - yours is too! I'm darker at the back though which I'm not so keen on. I had my hair cut yesterday and the guy cut the back really short. When he'd finished it looked like there was a dead mouse on the floor!

Puppylucky · 08/01/2019 17:37

And thank you too Dr Boo!

My mum has always had very short hair, pretty much a number 2/3 all over . She went grey very early and only recently lost a line of dark hair going across the back of her head and she's now 76.

I stopped dyeing my hair 2 years ago and grew out my natural grey (I am 39 now, so 37 when I started and am grey all over). I had some highlights initially just to break up that skunk line and just had regular trims. I found wearing my hair messier or curlier than usual helped on the days when I was bothered by the mix and match of the old dye and new greys coming through. It has been the best thing I have done for my hair and look. My hair is much healthier now as it has no dye in it, my skin looks better as it goes better with my hair than it did with the dyed colour which on reflection I can see now didn't suit my skin. I also love not having that obsession/panic about roots coming through, it's very liberating and I've saved a fortune. My big tip is to follow the account Grombre on Instagram for inspiration, it totally kept me going and is full of real women who have gone on a grey journey. I quite often get asked where I have my hair done and what colour technique I ask for so au natural is working for me 😀

I had a look at the grombre account, everyone looks great.
This isn't the best photo but this collour is Bleach London smoky blonde shampoo. My hair was still a bit yellow in places, it turned it silvery but a bit lilac in places, I think using it every other day would do me.
