@Laska, love the monsoon jumper. Its a great price and a beautiful red. I am not ordering though as I have plenty of jumpers atm!
@soyo I got a beautiful gift of hotel chocolat. OMG the gift set looked amazing. I was quite disappointed by the chocolate though, sadly. I had the brownies in it, salted caramel puddles, billionaires shortbread and a few other things. Not really that impressed despite rave reviews. Is it just me? I love lindt :)

neveradullmoment99 · 03/01/2019 21:51

...oh and milka - yum!!!

Ellapaella · 03/01/2019 21:58

Oh yes we were given a lovely box of hotel
Chocolat Christmas selection as well. A few were gorgeous but there were some let downs - strange fruity flavoured ones that didn't really do it for me. I'm currently tucking into my last bit of Christmas choc - chocolate covered marzipan. I love it and my Mum buys me a bar every year.
I went for a run last night and am a bit sore today. Had my 3rd meat and booze free day today so feeling very virtuous. I think I've earned my chocolate treat.
Should I try the Oslo skirt for £15? It's quite a bargain...

Huffthepuff · 03/01/2019 21:59

Thank you @SoyYo! You are always so thoughtful. Do you know I think the dread of it was actually worse than the reality. I feel like I've been on countdown for the last few weeks and just couldn't bear the thought of leaving him. But he's been fine at home with DP who will be doing the midweek childcare from now on and as of tomorrow we'll be introducing him to nursery for 2 days a week as well for variety (and to give DP a break).
I think you're right about the ups and downs until we get into a routine but we'll get there. Working from home tomorrow and I've been picking up tips from you and @Not re. homeworking. Although I need some of your fabulous slippers to really get into the zone I think 😉

neveradullmoment99 · 03/01/2019 22:01

@Ella, I think you would really suit the Oslo skirt. Its very cheap and would look brilliant with opaques, ankle boots and a thick cosy jumper and scarf. I can see you wearing it!

neveradullmoment99 · 03/01/2019 22:03

@Huff, sounds like you have it sorted. I have been there. Fortunately my MIL comes over for taking and collection of the kids and its great when you get into a routine. My dh used to work from home when the kids were little and it was nice we were able to do it that way.

SoyYo · 03/01/2019 22:35

@Huff great to read and yes if you can have variety of childcare and part time working that really is best. I was lucky (for the time it wasn’t at all usual 26 years ago) to have a brilliant employer who gave one of their first ever part time (3 days/week) and homeworking contacts to my role that up to then had only been full time and it worked so well! Later on when DC were 3 and 6 we moved to NL and as it was an expat type full time transfer DH and I swapped and he became the part time and remote worker. This was way before all the flex working legislation came into being and I like to think the success of my experience encouraged my then employer to offer similar arrangements to mothers that came after me Smile

@ella and @not I bought DH a Hotel Chocolat Velvetiser for Xmas (the man is a chocoholic so he’s delighted 😀) he’s got sooo much chocolate leftover because the boys got him boxes, friends got him tons, and he sits there eating I find it hard to say no all the time and I don’t even have a sweet tooth! Hmm so far I’ve only indulged in a Belgian truffle (or two) and must have chosen the right ones from the HC latest box cause they were bloody lovely and that’s saying a lot for this girl who doesn’t usually do sickly sweet treats...

SoyYo · 03/01/2019 22:47

And @ huff last time I looked the marvellous Hush slippers that have barely left my feet in the last 2 months had a great sale reduction Wink
@never I agree ella would look marvellous in the Oslo skirt as will you @laska and hopefully all who go for it. It’s bargainous!

SoyYo · 03/01/2019 23:01

GrinI’ve just seen this after the latest little fiasco in the news today regarding the govt contract awarded to fish n ships purveyors of channel ferries...and had to share because with 90 days to go to Brexshite you’ve gotta laugh or distract yourself with the Hush sale

Night night Wink

neveradullmoment99 · 03/01/2019 23:55

@soyo, sadly the hush slippers [scuffs] aren't reduced :( Pity.

dontcallmelen · 04/01/2019 08:37

Huff just wanted to add my yy to what’s been said, especially if you can have a mix of childcare, does seem to make it that bit easier.
When mine were little, my Dh managed to swap around his shifts & Mil/nursery we made it work, once you get into the swing of it.also the added benefit of being able to drink a cup of tea go to the loo in peace.
Soy 😂 I think distraction is the only way.
I’m off to see ‘Room on the Broom’ with dd & dgd a bit later, am a bit worried I will be tempted by sales as we are having lunch in Covent Garden, repeats mantra no spending until March😱

SoyYo · 04/01/2019 08:45

Indeed @melen 😂 i will not encourage you to pop to Gudrun’s little shop in Covent Garden oh no I won’t
Sorry @huff I think never you’re right I must have been thinking of the 20% reduction 🤦🏻‍♀️

twosoups1972 · 04/01/2019 09:36

@huffthepuff I had been eyeing that Boden jumper, it looks really nice. Boden have had some great knitwear this year.

@laska lovely Monsoon jumper. I really must not buy any more jumpers!

twosoups1972 · 04/01/2019 09:38

Arrgghh, have ordered from the Hush sale:

Drop sleeve shirt in dark green
Corin raglan top in red (seems overpriced though even in the sale)
Drew dress in cube black/pink

Will report back! Anyone got any of these?

moresproutspleasemum · 04/01/2019 09:43

Thanks everyone, yes it was the Kensington shirt, gutted, it doesn't seem available now- I wanted it badly at the time.

twosoups1972 · 04/01/2019 09:44

melen I LOVE Room on the Room, one of my favourite children's books ever. Covent Garden is lovely, where are you eating?

NotAnActualSheep · 04/01/2019 09:45

Yes huff - I'd second (third? fourth?) what others have said. I hated going back to work, even though I was going slowly potty on mat leave (NOT a natural SAHM, me). There are so many bits of unwanted and conflicting advice about how you're going to irreversibly screw up your child no matter what you do... I must say, it did get me very good at organising my time to the deadline of 5pm - and I got a lot less tolerant of colleagues faffing around in meetings etc. I started off doing 3 days, with DH compressing hours to have one day off, and DS was with a childminder for 2...then we gradually altered as a) my workload was increasing, but I wasn't getting paid for the 2 extra days I was doing, and b) the CM seemed to be doing a much better job at parenting than I was... I still take Friday afternoons off, though Grin.

But don't do what I did a couple of weeks back in - having come out of a meeting feeling I was queen of the world or at least a semi-competent professional on about 3 hours sleep only to find I had a custard cream stuck to my sleeve.

I do like the kendal Boden jumper (good colour for "transition" into "spring") and the red monsoon one (but jumpers... NO sheep - JUST NO) and also the oslo skirt (too short for me - but such a bargain and a really pretty pattern.).

porpoise - I know what you mean. I always find January so depressing...and want to give myself something to look forward to to remind me better times are coming.. We do need to sort out a holiday for this year (didn't get away last year other than short breaks) but I can't pin down DH to dates, let alone location... Grrrr.

Hope you enjoy the show len - I love that book! But remember, if you spend anything WE WILL HUNT YOU DOWN... WinkGrin

I'm seriously needing to stop with the eating too (though I'm sure 3 choccies won't really matter in the grand scheme!) On the positive front - I sent an email asking about pilates - so thats basically the same thing as actually doing them - yes?

lol @ the seaborne thing. What an absolute farce... thinks about changing my line of work

ilovecherries · 04/01/2019 09:54

Tell me honestly. I turned into a sheep at 3.55 yesterday when a 12 briefly appeared in the burgundy leggings. I know the light isn’t ideal, but do they look like they fit me?

I think they look a bit baggy cherries

NotAnActualSheep · 04/01/2019 10:01

Nice haul soups - the shirt looks lovely (which is the green one?) and I love the colour of the raglan top - though agree it is still a bit pricey and not much reduced. I'd like to see the drew dress on someone, TBH. I love how it looks on the model - and the reviews seem to like it, but its one of those that it is difficult to judge how it will look on normal people. I worried the frill bit at the bottom would sit just on the widest bit of my body..not a good look!

ilovecherries · 04/01/2019 10:05

I think they are baggy, aren’t they. When I looked at them out of the bag, I didn’t think I’d get them on, but they are quite loose on my legs - which is the exact problem I had last year when I tried a 14. They aren’t going to last if I lose more weight, are they? Conversely, the Florence skirt wouldn’t zip up.

OP posts:
twosoups1972 · 04/01/2019 10:06

sheep the drop sleeve shirt is actually navy blue! I though it looked dark green and the colour says 'grass' Grin

I had a bad night's sleep last night, couldn't get back to sleep after dh left at 6.30 so did a bit of online shopping from my iPad.

twosoups1972 · 04/01/2019 10:08

I really like the look of these but they are OOS in a 10. I tried a 12 and they were too big:
www2.next.co.uk/style/esl76873#L76873

NotAnActualSheep · 04/01/2019 10:11

Same I'm afraid cherries. They seem a bit loose on the ankle, and also around the thighs/ knees (this latter could just be length I suppose...but not sure shortening them would sort the thighs out). Definitely worth trying the smaller size if you otherwise like them (and the style really suits you Envy. As never said, they may well stretch with wear, so I'm not sure they will last even if you stay the same weight.

Ah, yes, you're right soups. Weird. Love that one, though! Mind you, I got a dress a month ago that called itself "navy green" which confused me no end...

neveradullmoment99 · 04/01/2019 10:14

Yes, they do look a bit baggy although mine are long and if I push them up, they kind of do that in the leg. They do stretch out a bit with wear too. I would try them in a 10 if they come back in stock. Not sure if they are in stock but you could try for a return. They look a lovely colour from what I can see.
My order has come but haven't opened it yet as I am waiting for my dh to go to work ha ha....
