@soup leggings look fantastic as does the shirt, definitely keepers.
I’m in the same boat as you...having said DS2 seemed to be doing well I’ve just had a message from him telling me he’s not coping (he’s been away since Monday back in Brighton) so I’m trying to persuade him to come home tomorrow.
He’s got his second surgery appointment on Wed and after the first one GP said their mental health services are so stretched he may have to wait months for counselling and to me the situation is getting quite urgent Sad...and I’ll be in Paris so can’t go with him for moral support but even then I don’t think he’d let me go with him. He’s 22 so an adult. I’m only grateful he’s telling me and willing to come back rather than battle on his own

NotAnActualSheep · 05/01/2019 20:49

I'm v jealous of those of you with short breaks coming up in the next couple of months. Definitely need something like that to look forward to (and to stop me comfort-buying jumpers).

Ella- thanks for those links! The green other stories ones look lovely, and I do like the purple cos ones too ( though the model looks sooo grumpy!) My plan is that I'm going to hate the toast ones so much that I never contemplate wearing thick cord trousers ever again, but just in case that doesn't work, I'll bear those in mind Grin. Never 100% sure wide leg trousers work on me (theoretically they should - but they always seem to make my thighs look even bigger). I am NOT keeping the toast ones. This is non-negotiable. (Should have done cherries' plan and gone for something awful...).

len - so sorry you're still in pain. Flowers Take care of yourself.

Also soups - really sorry about your DD Sad. It must be the worst thing, though it sounds like you are doing absolutely everything you can. Flowers for you too. Your legging and shirt combo does look great -they work really well together.

I'm definitely looking into Pilates. My email the other day has turned into an agreement to try a trial session next week (so expect a panicked post some point mid-week asking what I should wear to Pilates...). At least the centre is at the top of a hill (and our house is up another hill), so if nothing else, the walk there and back will do me some good...

SoyYo · 05/01/2019 20:51

@somany I’ll google the trousers you mention. Though I really shouldn’t.
On Baukjen leggings maybe @cherries can advise? If I remember right she ordered their leggings and returned and also tried Hush (albeit the wrong size) but I wonder if at least she can help regarding the cut and leather quality...
If you really love the fit and look of the Hush ones why don’t you try a kind of makeshift trouser press where the crease is to see if that’ll sort it...I’m thinking lying then on a flat surface and putting some heavy books in the crease bit to see if that would “iron” it out...may be worth a try before returning as you’ve got 30 days to get your refund.

Laska2Meryls · 05/01/2019 20:53

Soy I really wish I still lived n Brighton (was living just outside). I'd have invited your DS home for dinner..

I like the Toast free delivery idea but there is a skirt i really like and I would probably keep it..so no saving

NotAnActualSheep · 05/01/2019 20:53

Oh soy. I'm so sorry to hear about your DS too Sad. It must be difficult feeling so "helpless" with an adult child, but who still needs your help and support at a horrible time. My thoughts are with your family too Flowers.

NotAnActualSheep · 05/01/2019 20:57

Yy Laska. I'm a bit worried now...as if my tactic could be a bad, bad idea. Still NON-NEGOTIABLE. Oh yes...

SoyYo · 05/01/2019 21:00

@not well done on Pilates!
If you have the LL T I recommend as a vest layer with another t shirt on top. If not go for the longest T shirt you own as there’s a lot of stretching and bending and to save you flashing tummy.
For bottoms if you don’t already own a pair of leggings. Preferably the sporty ones. I’ve done Pilates in harems and pure cotton leggings too but if they use stretchy bands or balls the cotton doesn’t have enough “grip” so the man made fabrics are weirdly better...
That’s it, it’s not like gym bunny gear and everyone is concentrating on getting their posture right while breathing and getting into the exercise rhythm to care about gym clothes.
On your feet just socks or bare feet.
Check it they provide a mat or you need to bring your own...you can get one from Amazon if not

Laska2Meryls · 05/01/2019 21:01

twosoups sorry about your DD, my DS (27) also struggles with depression , but its mostly around work. Luckily at the moment he has another (temporary ) job,.. but (at last in what he is good at ) in IT building hardware and fixing software .. its his thing..(he does a lot of streaming also ) We are hoping it will turn into a permanent job.Sadly he is dyslexic and didnt do well at school, but is a total computer and maths whizz.. but in this job market you need qualifications, and dyslexia means its hard to pass formal exams ..

SoyYo · 05/01/2019 21:01

Thank you not and laska I’m really really worried and trying to distract myself with your chat and TV...

dontcallmelen · 05/01/2019 21:02

Soy so sorry Ds is still having a hard time, it sucks when they finding life difficult, hopefully he will come home & attend his appointment I’m sure knowing that you are a support & listening ear for him will help him. It’s a fecking disgrace that MH services are always the first to suffer when it comes to funding & resources, I spent my whole working life within various MH services it’s always been the same, let’s cut the services because they think no one will notice, makes me so angry.

dontcallmelen · 05/01/2019 21:14

Laska here’s hoping they see his worth & it turns into a permanent position🤞🏻
Soy has the Gp offered him a course of anti anxiety/low mood medication? The newer generation of drugs are much better, might be worth some consideration, especially if the wait for referrals is quite long💐

dontcallmelen · 05/01/2019 21:17

Laska I really like that skirt, also the dress in the same print i can imagine you wearing the skirt with JL top in the ochre colour.

SoyYo · 05/01/2019 21:18

melen bless you
Well I’ve decided if the GP can’t help I’ll ask for a private referral the boy needs urgent help. He promised to be home tomorrow or Monday latest and again @soups please insist with your GP to get your DD help she is still young so you have a bit more control than me with a young adult.

dontcallmelen · 05/01/2019 21:22

Soy unfortunately I think you may have to do that if the services are so sparse, shouldn’t bloody have to though, it’s a disgrace in a civilised society that people are suffering purely because of lack of investment in services that are so vital.

Talisin · 05/01/2019 22:42

I think it’s just possible that my wardrobe may be trying to tell me something...

The Hushistas wait for Spring
ilovecherries · 06/01/2019 09:34

Haha at the collapsing wardrobe!

soy I’m finding the young adult stage very hard to negotiate health wise. DD’s condition is complex and she sees a lot of different consultants, and she is still very clear that she needs and wants me to advocate with and for her. But the service doesn’t like that and won’t even let her sign a waiver allowing them to talk to me. We’ve both found the transition to adult services very difficult - not least because there is no longer a single point of contact. In the past her paediatrician managed the multiple balls, now she keeps falling through various cracks, and she will have one consultant saying she needs to do x, while we know if she does that, it will impact y. We both find it very frightening sometimes that we are the ones in the room with the most medical knowledge about her condition. I’ve learned to be more bolshy than I ever thought possible!

NotAnActualSheep · 06/01/2019 09:39

Lol Talisin! Your wardrobe is telling you you need a bigger wardrobe Grin. Hope its not to difficult to fix...

Thanks soy Star That's kind of what I was thinking. I do have a L/L tank (note to self...wash it...) but no "proper" leggings. However, I may try the first one with the leopard leggings and take it from there. Don't want to go in "all the gear and no idea" initially. I think they provide mats, but will check..and I have an old yoga one if not if it hasn't disintegrated...

MH services seem an absolute disaster at the moment Sad It does seem to be the "unseen" bit of the NHS, so has been cut even more than most, with GPs just limited to anti-depressants and a 16-20 month waiting list... Anyone who can afford to go privately just seems to be doing that, which is disgraceful. Good luck soy and soups. Flowers And I hope your DS continues to thrive where he is Laska... it seems that even now, once you have your foot in the door and proven experience, that is much more valuable than a string of qualifications, especially in cases such as your DS.

Hope you all have a lovely Sunday.

dontcallmelen · 06/01/2019 11:18

😂 at Talisin wardrobe, I think it’s definitely trying to tell you something.
Yy Cherries dd fortunately is just under the one consultant he also very accommodating & he is happy for me to attend with dd & he does actually take the time to listen, he always says she is the expert not him, but in the past especially when she was first diagnosed I surprised myself on how bolshy I could be.
When I first started working with people who had mental health/addiction issues my client base was mostly men aged roughly late thirties, when I left the clients were late teens early twenties & a lot more women as well, mainly due to the fact that young people’s services were the first to suffer from the cuts, these young people were already so damaged it’s was hard to see how they could gain back some normality & services & resources that we could access previously were virtually nonexistent in some boroughs.

twosoups1972 · 06/01/2019 12:56

Thank you all for your lovely support.

GP gave dd a prescription for phenegan (sp?), an anti-histamine to help her sleep. It's had some effect but not brilliant eg she's falling asleep around 2am instead of 5/6am. Dh has just left to take her back to boarding school. I have spoken to boarding staff who know what's been going on and they will keep a very close eye on her. She's supposed to be sitting her mocks the week after next but boarding staff will assess with her teachers whether she is up to taking them.

As neither psychologist worked out, the next step is for dd to see a psychiatrist to possibly be prescribed some medication. I didn't really want to go down that route but if she's not opening up there's not much choice.

Bigger kids, bigger problems eh? @Soy so sorry to hear that your ds is suffering. It's good he's talking to you, you must be great mum.

@laska that sounds frustrating for your ds, I hope the job works out and leads to something permanent.

I had no idea until recently how common mental health issues are in this generation. What on earth is going on, what are we doing to our kids? I know there is so much wrong with the British education system plus the effect of social media etc.

dontcallmelen · 06/01/2019 13:27

Soup glad that the school is supportive, psyschiatrist hopefully may be something that works for her ikwym about the medication route but sometimes a short term course can prove to be very useful.

Somanyquestions2 · 06/01/2019 13:34

Soy sorry I don't think I explained myself very well. The leather itself is fine and the wrinkles only appear when I put the leggings on, they seem to be related to the fit on my shape and I was wondering if they would smooth out with wear, because leather (I was hoping) moulds itself to your shape. Am attaching photos to show what I mean. Perhaps I need to do more Pilates to improve my shape......

Sorry to hear about your DS, it's such a worry but it's good that he can talk to you and come home so you can support him and help him get some treatment. Very frustrating that you have to go privately though.

Reading through the latest comments I want to thank you all and I’m just reassured I am not alone Flowers
@talisin 😱 hope you get it fixed Grin
@soups we are doing all we can, and let’s try and remain positive and support them by getting them the right help. Sounds to me you’re an absolutely amazing mother too

@somany I reckon a 12 may be too big for you? Those creases are caused by your legs not “filling” in the leggings, it’s similar to what @laska and @cherries experienced and you know the waist part expands and is very forgiving...try a 10 and that may be your solution as you have slim pins and no amount of Pilates will alter your basic shape, what it does is firm up what’s already there.

SoyYo · 06/01/2019 13:59

@soups both lovely I think grey goes with everything but actually prefer the dark burgundy ones such a lovely shade and not hard to combine with black or denim bottoms.

twosoups1972 · 06/01/2019 14:05

Yes I am quite a burgundy person so will probably go for those.

Please don't enable me to keep both! Grin Like the Jigsaw jumpers! Although I'm not very glad to whoever it was who encouraged me to keep both jumpers, they are both lovely and I wear them loads. Have the fuchsia one on today Smile
