What would you think of someone you didn’t know came up to you and said that?

Regarding the loss of confidence. If you're in your 40s/50s, it could be menopause related. Similar feelings are reported on MNs menopause threads. Along with procrastination and a feeling that things are 'too much'. Perhaps you are 20s/30s, in which case ignore!

Lovely jacket and he was rude.

WrongSideOfHistory · 08/12/2018 17:32

@DianaT1969 - really? Loss of confidence is normal with the menopause? I've not heard of that before, although I can completely empathise with the OP so maybe there's something in that.

I love that jacket!!
I'm glad a good thing seems to be coming from it. Fwiw I felt similarly anxious and out of place at a good friends party this year and put it down to the menopause.
I now take st Johns wort but I don't know if it's helping or not really

Deathraystare · 09/12/2018 09:58

I would have smiled and said " Yes I am known for my courage!" then looked down at what drab shite they were wearing.

Sallygoroundthemoon · 09/12/2018 13:39

Very rude and the jacket is great. I bet you looked fab.

Racecardriver · 09/12/2018 13:42

He was probably just as embarrassed. Possibly had a bit to drink. Came up and tried to make conversation or even compliment you and cane out with that instead!

Villanellesproudmum · 11/12/2018 07:12

That makes sense, I’m mid 40s and have loss of confidence, I’ve got to head a meeting this morning and sitting here dreading it. Usually I’m confident as i have to mediate.

St Johns ? I’ll look into that. Thank you.

St John's wort is great but just a word of warning - it can interfere with meds and especially hormonal contraception...So check all that out first.

LardLizard · 12/12/2018 07:51

Very rude, and even if you were wearing something outrageous or revealing
It would still be rude

He’s ether
Being hirribke on purpose, tryingto chat you up, trying to have a joke, or thoughtless twat
