Link to previous thread.

And once again, let's keep this good-spirited. Spiteful comments are about as welcome as Fergie at Prince Philip's birthday party!

Now I've really thought about it curtsying is weird.

DonkeysDontRideBicycles · 07/12/2018 00:01

Lunge or bob, I'd probably fall over.

itswinetime · 07/12/2018 00:02

Zebra really? And they say Kate and Meghan don't get on Wink. So does that mean if anne is still alive when Kate is queen Kate would still have to curtsy to anne?

SenecaFalls · 07/12/2018 00:15

That curtsying rule change was brought in as Anne (and someone else, but i forget who) didn't want to curtsy to Camilla, when Charles wasn't there. Apparently.

The popular press always get that "rule" wrong. They don't curtsy to people of the same rank. HRHs don't curtsy to other HRHs. The rule has to do with precedence, who enters a room in what order, for example.

AdaColeman · 07/12/2018 00:19

Some of them look as though there’re dancing the Hornpipe, rather than curtsying!
I remember learning to do it at ballet class, but I’d object to doing it to anyone these days.

Bloominglovely · 07/12/2018 00:58

Feegie’s over exaggerated pantomine courtesies always make me giggle. I like to believe she does it like that deliberately to mortify whoever it is in front of her 😀

TracyBeakerSoChristmas · 07/12/2018 01:47

Probably would be a darn sight easier if they just curtsied & bowed to each other regardless!

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 07/12/2018 02:22

Angelina Jolie isn’t curtsying per se, but she is showing respect and it looks elegant
Darcy Bussel is a ballerina and even with her trainings it doesn’t look great.
Kate is the only good curtseyer and CP Mary , but she is always Hani g onto people & looks like she is begging for arms.
The only decent modern courtesy’s are royal brides.

The curtseying thing is weird. Personally I would curtsey to the queen (lordy spent years doing them in ballet class;) ) but no way to anyone else.

I blame this thread for the accidental purchase of an Alexander McQueen dress, clearly I think I am the DOC.

Cornwall73 · 07/12/2018 05:55

I think you need a nice swishy skirt to make a curtsy look right as it hides the awkward position of the legs.

IPromiseIWontBeNaughty · 07/12/2018 06:20

I think the Anne & Camilla dispute is to do with Andrew Parker Bowles. Sure someone will be along to confirm!

Becles · 07/12/2018 06:42

Love the pictures although the blue dress Zara wore was not her best look.

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 07/12/2018 06:50

I thought Anne is back seeing APB. He’s a widower now after his 2nd wife died. I think the marriage with Tim Laurence is in name only.
Although why Camilla would care; as long as APaB is happy, it’s no skin off her nose who he’s seeing.
The only one who should be hurt here is Rear Admiral Tim

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 07/12/2018 06:52

Mary upholstery alert.
I didn’t mind her pink Jackie Kennedy look yesterday.
However it would appear that Latvia has not been her finest fashion hour....

Makes it all very awkward though. Ex husband dating SIL.

owlshooting · 07/12/2018 07:09

Curly how do you know Anne is seeing APB? Fascinating! Can't understand his appeal.

MrFMercury · 07/12/2018 07:15

I hadn't heard that one either. I've seen pictures of Camilla and APB together since she married Charles and figured they were just being friendly. All sounds a bit too close for comfort tho x

owlshooting · 07/12/2018 07:28

Anne and Andrew have remained very close and are good friends, but I don't think there is any evidence it is any more than that.

owlshooting · 07/12/2018 07:30

I was taught to curtsey in ballet classes - never done so though! It's a ridiculous, outmoded concept really. A deferential lowering of the head should be all that's required. Some of these photos are ridiculous, and Fergie always makes a pantomime of it.

IPromiseIWontBeNaughty · 07/12/2018 08:07

Fergie has always been my favourite royal ever since I heard (years ago) that she was stitched up by Diana (who I never liked)

YouCouldBeMe · 07/12/2018 08:13

I'm in shock that BP has an operating theatre! Shock

ajandjjmum · 07/12/2018 08:14

Didn't she have a relationship with APB which was why Camilla started seeing Charles (to make APB jealous), before they all married?

ajandjjmum · 07/12/2018 08:15

I think that the 'operating theatre' is actually in the Belgian Suite, which has a particularly large bathroom. And is also used for visiting dignitaries! Grin

Don't think I imagined that!

ViragoKnows · 07/12/2018 08:17

Now I've really thought about it curtsying is weird.

Surely it will start to die out once the Queen has gone? It’s archaic and servile and does look completely ludicrous.

I suppose the royals of the world might feel obliged to carry on. Endlessly bowing and bobbing and curtsying to each other.

Hairydilemma · 07/12/2018 08:22

Those curtsying pictures are hilarious! Theresa May looks like she’s on the starting blocks.

And what a funny word curtsy is when you read it over and over Grin.
