When we see them together, they are doing a job, told where to stand observe protocols. They aren’t going to be swinging along arm in arm, are they. Can’t see the point of a statement it would be undignified.

Spudlet · 01/12/2018 14:53

I used to get emails at stupid hours sometimes but there was no expectation that I'd be dealing with them or even looking at them until a normal time. Phones have an off-switch for a reason!

An email sent is not a problem imo - if it's followed up with three further emails and a phone call that's different, but if that was happening we'd surely be hearing all about it?

itswinetime · 01/12/2018 14:53

Well that all depends send emails off at 5 am before you are off for a day of engagements that staff can reply to when they are at work no problem.

Getting shitty because people aren't replying/doing things instantly at 5 out of order.

The story was lacking the key information to make a decision which is a bit of a running theme I think.

QueenOfTheAndals · 01/12/2018 14:57

I once worked for a woman who never seemed to sleep. I'd come into the office each morning to see she'd sent me emails at 2,3,4am. But she never expected me to respond at those times! Likewise I sometimes receive texts overnight but my phone is always on silent while I sleep so no problem!

They really shouldn’t issue a press statement - it was ill-advised for Harry to issue the first one defending Meghan from the racism and misogyny of the press. Do not feed the trolls.

They also have no control over the so-called reader comments and those are the ones that are really scary.

They need lawyers kicking Paul Dacre’s arse, not carefully worded nonsense from the grey-suited graduates of Cirencester Agricultural College.

Meghan also needs to be very careful about the company she keeps. The Soho House management crowd are very loose-lipped, despite all their “no cameras” privacy bollocks.

QueenOfTheAndals · 01/12/2018 15:07

It's not Dacre anymore is it? I thought he'd left the Mail now.

i’ve seen a lot of comments about prince harry “not looking happy” on various articles and it makes me laugh - are they surprised? His mother was hounded by the press even if death, and now he can see what’s happening to his new wife - i wouldn’t be very relaxed and happy either!
It must be awful for Meghan, but it also must be tough for both Harry and William to see both their wives being constantly talked about in the press in this way - a little bit too reminiscent of what came before.
I think she’s doing a great job seeming to rise above it in all appearances - hopefully its not affecting her too much in private.

Agree with posters wondering why Kate and Meghan are supposed to be best friends - I don’t see any warm body language as such just standard royal body language - but it doesn’t seem cold or awkward either.

chumsnet · 01/12/2018 15:46

I thought Paul Dacre was the Editor in Chief of the Daily Mail Group? Go on Paul, we know you’re here, set us straight!

I have always wondered whether Bianca London and Rebecca English are pseudonyms for a bank of ‘researchers’ re-writing press releases and telephone tip-offs.

BigGreenOlives · 01/12/2018 16:04

Geordie Greig, who used to be Tatler’s editor is the editor at the DM now.

I tried some Marchese dresses & wasn’t impressed to my disappointment. I’m more of a D&G/Moschino shape.

I think that a Max looks better in those dresses than the models.

QueenOfTheAndals · 01/12/2018 16:07

Geordie Greig was editor at the MoS but took over as DM editor from Dacre recently. And Mail Online has yet another editor. Dacre May still be EiC though.

There is just so much sexism in the whole scenario. No one expects men who are married to sisters to be best pals.

QueenOfTheAndals · 01/12/2018 16:09

@mmmgoats I've seen plenty of posters on MN claim Harry looks miserable and like he's regretting the marriage. I'm starting to wonder if I've got an eyesight problem, because all I see is a man who looks to be head over heels for his wife!

mmmgoats · 01/12/2018 16:17

same @queenoftheandals and if he looks a bit fed up sometimes i’m willing to bet it’s the press, not meghan that’s causing it!
I think he looks punch drunk with happiness most of the time!

Want2bSupermum · 01/12/2018 16:37

The problem with the DofS is that she won't listen to the staff paid to do their jobs. While people might think it's great she insists on shutting her own car door, it's a safety nightmare. There is a reason the RF don't open or shut their own car door at public events and it's all to do with safety.

Personally I'm fed up of the stories and think they are close to reaching their peak, soon to be uninteresting. If you want them to go away stop clicking on the DM!

Personally I think clothing wise it's shown that the DofS could do with a proper lady in waiting. She desperately needs to get up to speed faster on the etiquette related to the RF. As a women rising through the ranks in private industry ive met my fair share of 'resistance'. I've found it far more effective to first join them, build my team and then make changes. I'm all for change but you can't force it on people when you are the one marrying into the family you know little about in the grand scheme of things. PP brought about change but he did it after being in the RF for years having come from a different RF so knew how everything operated.

I also really resent that people assume Im making references to DofS being half black and therefore I'm automatically racist. The behavior of the DofS has zero to do with her race. There is a huge cultural gap and the DofS isn't helping herself by not listening the men in grey.

Well spotted Wink No doubt they have some editorial control, but does anyone really imagine the leading "royal correspondents" write all this rubbish themselves??

About the "grey men" though ... it's appealing to imagine them out of a job, but I can't see it happening. The family need someone to run their lives and if it wasn't the current batch there'd be someone else just as keen on scratching and plotting behind the scenes

In many ways it's still all very Henry VIII, except now they stand to lose a bit of popularity rather than their heads

Paradyning · 01/12/2018 17:25

I think that pic of the Wales family was taken on heir Spanish holiday. When Diana spent the whole time swatting off King Juan Carlos' affections.

QueenOfTheAndals · 01/12/2018 17:28

I've heard rumours she had an affair with King JC. Or was it Constantine of Greece? JC has had his share of affairs but I wouldn't have thought he was Diana's type.

OP posts:
Paradyning · 01/12/2018 17:32

I do t think they had an affair but he tried his luck.
Not sure about Constantine.

QueenOfTheAndals · 01/12/2018 17:35

I found this story on JC's affairs. Daily Mail but hosted on Press Reader's site so safe to click on. He sounds like a complete sleazeball!

Now back to fashion. This is the dress DH liked. I don't think it's something that DofS or DofC would wear but I think something like this soft gold could work well for me. I have traditional Jewish coloring of dark hair and milky skin. I think a jewel colour would be better myself but I think I'll leave it to them to advise me. I'm done with having babies so my size shouldn't change so much. I'm down to 145 and I expect my weight to fluctuate between 135 and 155 so want that taken account of in the design.

I kinda am like Princess Anne when it comes to clothing. I got really annoyed with my MIL for buying cheap suits for me because I buy really good quality stuff which is built for the environment I'm in. It's extremely humid in summer and icy cold in winter. Polyester doesn't suit either climates. Certain wools work really well in the humidity but it's extremely expensive at $1000+ (uSD that is) for a suit to buy new. I have 3 which I've had for 10 years now and they were at least 5 years old when I purchased them. I'll wear the suits for another 20 years easily and the jackets will probably be something I wear for the rest of my life but with jeans.

IPromiseIWontBeNaughty · 01/12/2018 18:19

That dress is super Want

I hope you have fun wearing it.

SenecaFalls · 01/12/2018 18:26

That's a beautiful dress, Want2be. I really like the detailing around the waist.

mmmgoats · 01/12/2018 18:29

Lovely dress, you must have a lovely figure I’m not sure I could pull that off!

I’m googling googling royal skincare and haircare not that I expect to find
much!
