No, do stay @Parker231 as sometimes I feel I'm the only one who prefers Meghan's style to Kate!! Grin

@ajandjjmum Ah I remember now, I think she was photographed in it in the car with HM.

I love Kate’s outfit. Perfect for the occasion.

I always preferred Fergie to Diana. Isn’t it said that Diana threw Fergie under a bus to see how a divorced wife would fare. She then knew what to demand!

Think in The Crown that Philip refers to the grey men as The Moustaches!

I like a bit lot of gossip but prefer to keep it lighthearted if possible!

queenofarles · 28/11/2018 14:10

I love 80s fashion! sadly I was born in 82, so my 80s sartorial look was not that exciting . Diana wore some pretty clothes that are very much in fashion right now,i just love these two looks .
I would love to find something similar to the yellow dress she wore in Australia,

She must have something on under that coat dress, the split is very high!

Butterymuffin · 28/11/2018 14:15

The 80s really have a lot to answer for, in terms of fashion. I'm not sure that look can ever be rehabilitated

That's been said about the 70s too and it's still happened. We'll get an 80s revival and Diana's stuff will be back in one day Grin

IPromiseIWontBeNaughty · 28/11/2018 14:16

I’m no Diana fan but she really was a natural beauty. Stunning.

itswinetime · 28/11/2018 14:21

Kate looks good in a coat dress they suit her that's no surprise given that she has s many.As always I wish she would move away from them. I don't like coat dresses there I said it I think they are dated and age you. Obviously today's event is sad and not about fashion but I wish the duchess would look at the European royals and see bring royal doesn't mean dressing in that style.

GrumbleBumble · 28/11/2018 14:22

I still.dont really "get" the Diana hype. I think both the DofC and the DofS are both more beautiful than her. I know she must have had the "X" factor that some people have that makes them more than the sum.of their parts but I've never bought into the "most beautiful woman" myth and have always felt that while the marriage should never have happened she was damaged long before that.

ItsNiceItsDifferentItsUnusual · 28/11/2018 14:23

Kate, imo, is a waste of space; never had a job and now a clothes horse.

Honestly, calling someone a waste of space is awful. And, whatever your opinions on the RF, a person is capable of contributing plenty to society despite never having had a job.

Honestly it's no wonder the media is setting up this absolutely ridiculous and infantilising rift between two women when your average person on the street is going on about things like this.

AFifthOfKoolAid · 28/11/2018 14:28

Also, she's had a charmed life but Kate has had jobs! One was in the family business, granted, but didn't she also work for Jigsaw? And she was hounded by the press every movement she made.

The Queen has never had a job.

Laniakea · 28/11/2018 14:29

It must be very odd getting sent around the country to publicly mourn people you've never heard of

The whole representing the nation thing - though in this case William (at least) was friends with one of the people killed.

Someone tried to persuade me that scrunchies were coming back into style - I guess the ribbon is better than that! I like her hair in the pony tail & nice to see a non clutch bag too.

AFifthOfKoolAid · 28/11/2018 14:29

Actually no, didn't the Queen work in the war? I correct myself.

GrumbleBumble · 28/11/2018 14:31

Yes the Queen did work during the war and has had the job of Queen for many years. Very few people her age that are still working. It might not be a shift down the mines but it is a job.

QueenOfTheAndals · 28/11/2018 14:35

Yes, she was a mechanic wasn't she? Apparently she's called it one of the happiest times in her life.

AhoyDelBoy - as I said I’m no fan of the RF but love fashion and like them or not, they are lucky enough to have their choice of top fashion designers. Although I continue to believe Kate has been a waste of space, Anne has my full admiration for her hard work year in year out.

HM is the only living head of state to have served in WW2.

carolinacalls · 28/11/2018 14:40

I’m not sure about that velvet bow!

Parker231 · 28/11/2018 14:45

I love this dress - would love that in my wardrobe and the occasion to wear it. She can certainly carry off colour.

QueenOfTheAndals · 28/11/2018 14:55

Oh I love Maxima. She completely overshadows King Wax but he clearly adores her and doesn't care. So different to the British royals, where the women are still expected to defer to their husbands and not outshine them!

OP posts:
Spudlet · 28/11/2018 15:11

I like both Kate and Megan's styles. They are different, and I don't always like every outfit, but I do like that they dress in ways that suit themselves and their approaches, iyswim. I don't think calling Kate a waste of space is right or fair - she has been a great help to a charity based near to me, that does some amazing work. And she does have three very small children, and is also in a slightly odd position in that she and her husband have a higher profile than the heir to the throne, which must be potentially awkward, even if you discount the many stories of PCs prickliness on these sorts of matters!

IPromiseIWontBeNaughty · 28/11/2018 15:20

Waste of space - that’s downright nasty. I don’t work now & only ever worked in my family firm. I worked harder than other employees as I had to prove I was capable of being there for what I could bring to the table not just because I was the Boss’s niece. I’m disabled now & can no longer work so nice to know I’m a waste of space. I’ll just save up all my tablets shall I? I’m sure my family will be delighted to get rid of me as I’m such a drain. Rant over

IPromiseIWontBeNaughty · 28/11/2018 15:23

On a lighter how fabulous that King Wax is clearly so proud that his wife outshines him.

YearOfYouRemember · 28/11/2018 15:30

Crookedme - William at least DID know the football club owner who died. William is president of the FA and met the deceased personally.

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 28/11/2018 15:34

Ok, I'm back. Sitting in Whole foods on high street Ken having my lunch'!
Not many dresses. You could tell they were expensive, but I was definitely Diana who made them extraordinary by her presence.
Upstairs in the Victoria section, there were some beautiful tiaras. The sparkle was amazing. Will post more pics when I figure out how to get my photos the right way up'!
