She will redeem herself soon at the Nobels - fear not. Unless she wears the awful headlamp tiara

QueenOfTheAndals · 27/11/2018 22:18

Victoria's hair though! Always pulled back so tightly - she must have a permanent headache. And her husband's love affair with hair gel continues...

This talk of Fergie, titles and tiaras reminds me of the royal weddings programme I watched last night. Apparently she wanted to go up the aisle as a ‘country girl’ with a floral headdress and walk back down in a tiara as a princess. Apparently it was a nightmare for the hairdresser, who I think had to sort it out as the register was being signed under the watchful gaze of the Queen!

Colabottle10 · 27/11/2018 22:22

@BlingLoving Can you link to what oil and cloths you're using please?

IdaBWells · 27/11/2018 22:22

For a long time Prince Andrew was second in line to the throne and was a relatively glamorous figure. It's quite a blow to the ego to accept that you are now WAYYY down the list after various neices and nephews. It seems that he wasn't really prepared for the consequences of that change and clings quite arrogantly to the prestige of being a senior royal.

You get the impression Harry knows he and his immediate family are going to be further and further from that central role and now with Meghan they can forge a different identity. It looks like their focus will very much be on the Commonwealth which makes a lot of sense. The also-rans such as Andrew and Princess Margaret do seem to struggle if they don't work to reevaluate their lives and positions.

Ktay · 27/11/2018 22:23

(Excuse all the apparentlys...)

Colabottle10 · 27/11/2018 22:33

Sorry folks - only just seen the 'no beauty talk'. As you were.

Pupsiecola · 27/11/2018 22:45

Yeah, back in the 70s and 80s Prince Andrew was considered quite a stud. His nickname was Randy Andy. I was on a school residential in Cornwall in the very early 80s and we went to RNAF Culdrose where he was stationed. There was much excitement. No sign of him though.

Pupsiecola · 27/11/2018 22:46

Getting his Wings from his dad. He was certainly more 'pin-up' than his brothers.

To be fair Prince Andrew was quite dashing in his day.

He was definitely the best-looking of HM's sons back in the day.

I always think Diana was more suited to Andrew than Charles, they looked good together.

Yes I always thought so too.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 27/11/2018 23:48

Does anyone else think its weird that no one has put out a statement to say the feud rumours aren't true?

Not at all; as you said yourself, once they start issuing denials folk expect to see one for the next thing ... and the next ... and the next ... with absence of a denial taken as confirmation

Unless it's over something really serious, it can sometimes be wiser just to keep schtum

SenecaFalls · 28/11/2018 00:12

Kate should throw Meg a baby shower. With a gift list. That will move the outrage into a different direction.

PawneeParksDept · 28/11/2018 00:25

What they will likely do instead is wait a few weeks and have Kate and Meghan do a joint visit, that is very happy and smiley and probably Christmassy without husbands.

Or they will walk together down to the church on Christmas Day, husbands behind, if the Cambridge's go.

Bloominglovely · 28/11/2018 02:02

I wonder what Meghan is doing when Harry is in Zambia? I remember watching an interview Fergie did where, as a newlywed, she said she waited around in her rooms when Andy was in the navy. Once Meghan has done some 'correspondence', where and what does she do in the evenings? Browse the internet, watch tv, read baby books :). But more importantly does she have any company, someone to chat to?

The Palace should get to the root of who is spreading these rumours - it should be easy enough to figure out who was present when the dress fittings were taking place (and of course Kate was emotional seeing Charlotte who until very recently had been her baby all dressed up and looking older. Don't all mums think similarly about their older while when they have a new baby? If it is the 'men in grey', I don't know what can be done about it as they supposedly are never questioned but time has moved on and with the it, the arrival of the internet, technology and it should be entirely possible to get to the bottom of it. I feel quite sorry for her as one woman to another woman. I think in these circumstances, Kate needs to step up and do something for once to show her support publicly, and not just staged walkabouts. But I doubt that Kate will do anything much at all, she seems to have zero backbone and will hide away as much as she possibly can. Now is the time for her to finally act like a senior royal and do something!

How about a performance of the Nutcracker? Kate went last year.

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 28/11/2018 05:02

@Bloominglovely

Harry’s on his way back now; he only went to Zambia for 2 days
There’s the old Royal saying “never complain, never explain”.

I think it’s a bit harsh saying that Kate has no backbone.
She is in an impossible position.
I’m not sure who whipped up this feud malarkey though.
There were a few carefully placed stories like the assistant leaving and then the seperate offices.
However the issue is, that for ages it was assumed that M&H would live next to William and Kate.
However, they have changed their mind I think that’s it. Every reason they have stated for moving to Windsor is normal. I feel sorry for all 4 of them.

The other issue for them is the whole social media issue. As Meghan is American, she has a lot of young American fans, who are #teammeghan. Then there are the haters who just make up rubbish about her. I’m not surprised if Meghan wants to escape.

You know in the long term, bearing in mind Harry has the commonwealth ambassador role; it is not beyond the realms of possibility that they choose to live in Africa if it all gets too much.
Earl Spencer’s eldest children were raised there; completely out of the public eye.

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 28/11/2018 05:23

A couple of dresses from the Duchess of York’s twitter account
I suspect she is allowed to accept them for free given she is no longer Royal.

I like the black leather jacket and the green dress ( from Eugenie’s evening reception)

Somebody definitely has the knives out for Meghan. Feel very sorry for the woman. Left her home, friends & family & she gets this. I’m sure they’ll be an outing with her & Kate soon.

Those trousersuits that CP Victoria is wearing, I used to own clothes like that & thought I looked tres chic Grin

user1457017537 · 28/11/2018 06:11

I dislike both those dresses. Dolly Parton’s quote comes to mind “it takes a lot of money to look this cheap”.

Clionba · 28/11/2018 06:22

I think Meghan is an intelligent woman with many interests who will be just fine in Harry's absence. Fergie wasn't, but that's a different story and a different marriage.
CP Victoria looks good in dresses or sharper tailoring - the Freeman's catalogue comment is spot on! I really don't like Fergie's shiny green dress, it was probably ££££ but looks flammable!

IPromiseIWontBeNaughty · 28/11/2018 06:30

And I’m an old enough to remember hart to hart. I thought Stephanie (?) was the height of sophistication
