New thread!

I'd marry Max, obvs. What a laugh we'd have (God I'm there already in my head!)

And Queen Rania, hoping that my love would encourage her to lay off the fillers. Then I'd just look at her all day. Sigh.

(That's creepier in print than it was in my head)

QueenOfTheAndals · 23/11/2018 09:15

This clip says it all about Max, she seems a hoot and loves her job.

Oh god, imagine if we're all wrong and she's cold and uncaring behind closed doors? I couldn't bear it!!!

I wonder if white was a political message-it shows no support for war doesn’t it? Loved the pink outfit. Do they make new tiaras I wonder! I know I could google but I’m sure someone knows and can tell me!Grin

frugalkitty · 23/11/2018 09:35

I'll have Haakon of Norway please, he can live in the airing cupboard and I can reach for him instead of a hot water bottle when DH is away Grin

On the days that DH is home, I'll share Max and Mary for some shopping and jewellery borrowing.

Paradyning · 23/11/2018 09:40

Charlene has a new ones made for her wedding. Not a fan of it personally. Think it called the ocean tiara

orderofsplendor.blogspot.com/2014/04/tiara-thursday-ocean-tiara.html?m=1

She also got this new one, the foam tiara. Which is a bit underwhelming.

orderofsplendor.blogspot.com/2011/07/tiara-thursday-diamond-foam-tiara-and.html?m=1

I guess for her though it may be perfect as she doesn't seem to like too much jewellery.

Seem to remember there were rumblings at CP Vics' wedding that she didn't wear a tiara.

Paradyning · 23/11/2018 09:40

Haakon. Oh yes!

Paradyning · 23/11/2018 09:44

I think Rania has some modern tiaras too but they're a bit out there.

Japan always have new parure when they are presented at court.

This blog pretty much covers them all.

Mary has had a new one commissioned for her too.

I liked Charlie's quip about Kylie & Shane being possibilities on Harry & Meg's baby name list during a reception at Australia House!

Carl Philip of Sweden has brightened up a cold wet Friday morning no end.

Max is absolutely fab in total purple!

frugalkitty · 23/11/2018 10:03

I'd offer to share Haakon but my DH is away a lot, so HRH might be a bit on the tired side.......Grin

I liked the hair piece that Charlene wore on her wedding day. Not a fan of the two tiaras linked above.

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 23/11/2018 10:10

No the Meghan Turkey pic is one of her old Instagram ones. Couldn't resist as I love to illustrate my posts with a photo!Grin

I think Spanish children's clothes are lovely for preteen children, but a bit old fashioned for a teenager. Lady Louise wears very uninspiring formal clothes, but having seen her carriage driving, I think she suits country clothes.
Speaking of the wessexes, I do think Sophie has got a bit uninspiring sartorially of late.

QueenOfTheAndals · 23/11/2018 10:14

@CurlyWurlyTwirly Yes, I've seen pictures of Louise dressed casually and she looked much more relaxed. Poor Beatrice and Eugenie had to wear those matronly outfits when they were her age too.

Sophie does seem wedded to her oversized coats lately, doesn't she?

Was down a rabbit hole of tiaras and came across some gowns at CP Victoria's wedding. The European royals do fantastic wedding guest outfits.

frugalkitty · 23/11/2018 10:24

I have a feeling that at CP Victoria's weddin, Charlene was only recently engaged, not married, which is why she didn't wear a tiara.

Quantumblue · 23/11/2018 10:24

I'll share Haakon thanks. Yum.

QueenOfTheAndals · 23/11/2018 10:27

Haakon doesn't appeal to me but he seems like a laugh - he once disappeared in the middle of a banquet and returned clean shaven a few minutes later as a joke.

Paradyning · 23/11/2018 10:28

Ah you are correct Kitty! She got married the following summer. Must have been another Swedish event I was thinking of. Maybe Madeleine

Spudlet · 23/11/2018 10:31

Just reading up on the Portland Tiara it wasn't me!

orderofsplendor.blogspot.com/2016/03/tiara-thursday-portland-tiara.html?m=1

This made me laugh:

The tiara was apparently the survivor of a rare incident (hopefully a rare incident) recounted in the Duke's own words (via Geoffrey Munn's Tiaras: A History of Splendor): "While my wife was dressing for dinner... I threw myself into an armchair. Both she and her maid gave a scream and so did I, for I had sat down upon the very sharp points of the diamond tiara. Naturally the tiara was broken to bits, while the lower part of my poor person resembled the diamond mines of Golconda, so full was it of precious stones."

ShockGrin

QueenOfTheAndals · 23/11/2018 10:35

Wait, there's a Princess KELLY?? I'm assuming an American?

OP posts:
QueenOfTheAndals · 23/11/2018 10:50

She is indeed, Americans who married princes.

OP posts:
Spudlet · 23/11/2018 10:56

Not necessarily princes, but wealthy American heiresses marrying cash- strapped aristocrats was quite a thing at the turn of the last century. Not that I'm suggesting that modern marriages are similarly business-minded! But just that it isn't a new thing.

LonnyVonnyWilsonFrickett · 23/11/2018 11:14

The ocean tiara looks a bit uninspiring on its own, but when you see it on the Hola cover it actually is stunning - very modern and very 'her'. Love that she wears it so forward on her head. It's a lovely piece.

QueenOfTheAndals · 23/11/2018 11:37

@Paradyning's use of "foam tiara" made me wonder just how cheap Albert was!

OP posts:
frugalkitty · 23/11/2018 12:05

At least a foam tiara wouldn't give the wearer a headache!
