It's such a lazy narrative to set women up against each other.

Yep. In reality they probably don’t really know each other that well 🤷🏼‍♀️

SenecaFalls · 24/11/2018 22:52

It's such a lazy narrative to set women up against each other.

Sadly, it was bound to happen. Happily so far the US mainstream media are not going in that direction. The latest headline: "Harry and Meghan are moving to the suburbs." Smile

RosinaAlmaviva · 24/11/2018 22:52

Oh yes, the famous brolly-poking incident. I remember that as a major marker on the road from Breath Of Fresh Air to...where things ended up.

On the subject of royal renovations, I have volunteered at historic houses and can confirm that the parts intended for staff often have a grim student accommodation/bedsit/office type vibe.

QueenOfTheAndals · 24/11/2018 22:55

There is a lot of serious ill will around Meghan. It’s worse than anything which was ever written about Kate.

Yes, the right-wing press is determined to discredit her. Look at the nonsense about the terror link to the Hubb Kitchen. It can't be a coincidence that a smear like that comes out just days after she paid a very successful visit to the kitchen.

I do love the headlines in some of the zanier US tabloids though @SenecaFalls, my favourite was the recent "Camilla divorces Charles on his 70th birthday", followed by "Tina Turner tells all", making it look like Tina had the lowdown on their split!

Some rare; unseen photos of Diana

I'd have thought that the Palace PR and security team would thoroughly check out the background of any 'causes' and if they haven't, it really has nothing to do with the royal family member whatsoever.

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 24/11/2018 23:09

It is really sh*t that a great initiative of Meghan’s is being tarnished by the”terror” brush
I’m really not sure what people are trying to achieve by trying to make her projects fail.

I am surprised there has been no speculation about what the baby will look like. I think curly hair is pretty expected; but will they be strawberry blond or dark. Blue or brown eyes. Once Meghan’s ump really starts to show; I think every one will be extremely excited

itswinetime · 24/11/2018 23:11

CurlyWurlyTwirly I thought the speculation about what they baby will look like has started in sure I read an article on if it was possible the baby could be ginger not long after the announcement.

QueenOfTheAndals · 24/11/2018 23:20

Oh yes, the Mail had one of their usual articles where they merged H&M's features to make a baby's face!

Lovely photos of Diana. She really had "something" about her, didn't she?

PawneeParksDept · 24/11/2018 23:22

I'm at the point we're I'm no longer willing to believe negative stories about Meghan.

She has entered Britain, which is a learning curve

She has joined the aristocracy - massive learning curve

She has now got countless staff where previously she might have had an agent and a cleaner - a learning curve

She is mixed race and has had both overt and covert racism thrown at her - a cross to bear

She has a dreadful half sister who has clearly always hated her out to slag her at every turn and cannot respond

She has a platform at which she can speak but mustn't say too much, the wrong thing or be political. A tough balance.

She has a platform but is outranked by her FIL, SMIL, DH, BIL, SIL, DGMIL, DGFIL, And other inlaws and must "stay in her lane" and not outshine them - SO tough.

And yes, she might be making mistakes, but so would we all.

SenecaFalls · 24/11/2018 23:27

She really had "something" about her, didn't she?

Diana definitely did. On a fashion note, in most of those pics, she is wearing shoes with mid to low heel heights. I heartily wish that fashion would resurge.

QueenOfTheAndals · 24/11/2018 23:46

She used to wear low heels when she was in her 20s because if she wore high ones then she'd be taller than Charles, apparently. And he didn't like that!

I've quickly become very addicted to these threads. I think for the most part it's the real warmth and admiration for other women that comes across. Even if an outfit doesn't quite hit the mark, conversation doesn't come off as needlessly mean if that makes sense? I've always been interested in the RF and their histories too so I really enjoy finding out more about that, including the various households.
Anyway I just wanted to say how much I really appreciate these threads and look forward to read them whenever I get a few minutes ☺

BettyBooJustDoinTheDoo · 25/11/2018 00:04

Was just about to say the same Queen the heels got higher after the split.

BettyBooJustDoinTheDoo · 25/11/2018 00:06

And yes she really did have something about her, love this picture of her.

They got higher, but not often to the 4-5 inch stiletto mark.

BettyBooJustDoinTheDoo · 25/11/2018 00:21

I really don’t want to see Kate in shoes like Diana wore back in the day, this I think she gets the heel height just right not too high to be tottering but enough to make a dressy outfit elegant.

Placemarking!

As for that CDAN story, it doesn’t even make sense to me. If Jessica Mulroney gets the freebies because MM can’t accept free clothes, why would Charles then get billed for them?

Pupsiecola · 25/11/2018 00:34

Some gorgeous pics of Diana in those links. Thank you. My childhood/teens right there: so many familiar photos. She never grew her hair did she. I wonder what it would have looked like long. It totally suited her short though.

I'm slightly Blush to admit that I have no clue who's who in the European RF. Someone mentioned in a previous thread that they're all realtors. Are they really? I need to try to find a family tree to see how they're all linked.

Pupsiecola · 25/11/2018 00:37

Re the freebies, one article I read said MM has £3.1m (the comment was about the tax issues with the US: PH apparently receives 300k annually from his trust fund. Presumably from Diana's estate? Point being, I don't think MM needs cash from a 50/50 split enough to go out in I'll fitting clothes in front of the world's press, knowingly.

Quantumblue · 25/11/2018 01:32

Well I guess Meghan is no longer getting a salary from Suits... Does Harry just sling her some of the 300k? I can't imagine how that conversation would even go.

I can't decide if I love or hate this dress of Princess Mary. What do you think?

Royal style & gossip: from maximum Maxima to minimalist Meghan
SenecaFalls · 25/11/2018 02:28

I think Meghan still gets residuals from Suits, and I assume she has investment income from accumulated principal.

Paradyning · 25/11/2018 03:01

Think that dress is a miss from me @Quantumblue
