I hope the RF have realized they need to hold back a little bit more so they are more 'elusive'. I don't think this is a bad thing.

Want2bSupermum · 16/11/2018 14:09

To clarify, I think the RF have moved to close to the celebrity line and I don't think that is a good idea. They are not celebrities.

Well I’m not really interested in the Royal family at all. I do, however, like style, fashion and beauty and all that entails.

I don’t think they (the Royals) can Court the public like during PH and MM’s recent visit down under and then ignore us when they feel like it. All posters on here wanted was some pics of guests arriving in their glamourous attire, dressed for a night of partying. When I said there were no photos of PL recently I remember photos of G and C as babies. Fine if they don’t want to reveal anymore, just don’t expect the public to always be there lapping it up.

VanillaSugary · 16/11/2018 14:27

The thing is, Prince Charles and Camilla DID send out a photo. He's the birthday boy and it was his party.

Paradyning · 16/11/2018 14:42

Camilla's necklace and earrings in that photo were gorgeous. Wonder what they were.

I knew the jewel vault would tell me

I think the French photos of Catherine where taken from a very long lens. I remember there being a photo of the place where the photographer was standing and you couldn’t really make out the chateau they were staying in it was so far away.

Totally appalling that on a private estate they could be photographed from so far away. I think she was smoking in the photo as well. But obviously the fact she was topless was more important. It’s so so awful, I don’t blame William for trying to protect him wife and children after what happened to his mother. If anyone tries to invade the privacy of his children once they are teenagers I think he will go all out.

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 16/11/2018 15:15

Camilla has definitely got the most gorgeous jewellery.
She seems to have been showered in it since her marriage. (Did Diana get as much?)
I just wondered, does her Jewellery count as personal Jewellery or does it revert to the Crown? For example Sarah Gerguson was given a ( brand new) tiara when she married and she kept it after she divorced.

Can Camilla bequeath any of her jewellery to her natural daughter, Laura Lopes and granddaughters or do they have to return to the royal vault for Kate; Meghan; Charlotte etc to wear?

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 16/11/2018 15:19

Thanks @itswinetime for the reminder of Diana’s dresses. I am going to make a point of seeing them when I am next in London.
I have seen the à Elvis at the V&A. It is quite eerie seeing something which is now a costume, but was a living person’s clothes iyswim...?

I would love them to do a retrospective of the Queen’s wardrobe.

itswinetime · 16/11/2018 15:33

I think some of Camillias jewellery is her own pre marriage I know she has a family tiara ect. It seems now most jewellery is loaned from the crown as oppose to given out which I think makes sense if you look through some of the tiaras that are now in the hands of the lesser royals who in the next generation I think will be lost from the public eye, it's a shame keeping the collection in the hands of the crown as oppose to individuals makes the most sense to me.

Diana did have a lot of jewellery I think but again I'm not sure if it was hers or gifted. But I think the decade 80's and 90's was a different style so I think it looked less wow if you know what I mean.

I would love a look back at the queens fashion hopefully it is all preserved somewhere for the future.

Paradyning · 16/11/2018 15:44

@CurlyWurlyTwirly that parure in particular was a personal gift from Charles I think so I imagine she could pass it to Laura if she chose to.

QueenOfTheAndals · 16/11/2018 16:05

Here's Maxima, all in red and looking fab!

@CurlyWurlyTwirly There's several gowns belonging to HM and PM on display alongside Diana's at Kensington Palace. They were both so petite that in comparison, Diana's dresses look like they belonged to a giantess! The waists of their gowns are impossibly tiny - I just don't think anyone has a figure like that anymore.

I like the two tones of red @QueenOfTheAndals, not sure how easy that would be to replicate.

UrsulaPandress · 16/11/2018 17:46

She does look fantastic.

EmGee · 16/11/2018 17:57

The thing that stands out for me with Max, is how expressive she is. I think that's what I like about Camilla too. I don't mean they are expressive in the same way but both seem to be at ease in their skin (that comes from the French 'bien dans sa peau' - can't think of a better expression in English!). It makes the clothes secondary if you see what I mean.

IdaBWells · 16/11/2018 18:32

Here’s hoping the lovely photos of Charles with his sons and their children taken in September and released for his 70th, might spur them to do similar through the year, maybe: Christmas, Easter, late summer?

Yes the photo of Catherine was taken when she was at a private villa with a high wall and they took the pics from a mile away with a mega powerful lense.

I read William got a no-fly ban put in place above his property in Norfolk to prevent any drones from taking pictures from above. I think that was a smart move and I imagine advised by security experts.

I have noticed that Meghan is clearly very media savvy, she understands that the photographers need their shot and making their life easier makes her life easier. I often see her take a quick pause at various points with a big smile. She is used to the red carpet (and of course self-promotion) and being around show-biz since a child I think she gets that everyone is trying to do their job, on both sides of the camera.

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 16/11/2018 18:35

Maxima’s designer: Claes Iversen’s entire ready to wear collection is sold out. I loved the 2 shades of red; they are both called Merlot on his website.
I am not sure where in my life I would wear a red pantsuit; but the combination is awesome.

Agree @EmGee, Maxima & Camilla are both comfortable in their skin.
Despite wearing huge hats etc, the clothes don’t wear them.
I would however say that Camilla still looks slightly awkward in a Tiara as she actually has a very small face and they look Huge on her.

Absolutely agree with you

I agree too.

Camilla invariably wears the Geville Tiara which is MASSIVE.

DontCallMeCharlotte · 16/11/2018 18:53
  • Greville Tiara (rolls eyes)
CurlyWurlyTwirly · 16/11/2018 19:00

@DontCallMeCharlotte

I think compared to the Queen Mother; Camilla wears the Greville Tiara higher up; & with more hair so it looked bigger.
However, yes it is massive on closer inspection. Mrs Greville asked for extra spikes to be added to the original Boucheron Tiara.

Haworthia · 16/11/2018 19:01

Speaking of tiaras, can anyone explain to a pleb like me what the “etiquette” was for buying and wearing one? They’re obviously not the preserve of royalty, because plenty of aristocratic/non-Royal families have their tiaras. Were they simply a popular piece of jewellery for those wealthy enough to buy them? But they’re not exactly jewellery are they? When would they typically have been worn?

Clionba · 16/11/2018 19:03

Whoa!! I just luuuuurve Camilla's necklace! That is a whole heapa diamonds!!!
