I looked at that Seraphine link - plenty of navy in there Wink

Just had a look at some of Diana's outfits when she was pregnant with William. Some of them are absolute shockers! Kate always managed to look elegant and she carried all her pregnancies very well.

AhoyDelBoy · 19/11/2018 23:20

@owlshooting Also, I find the way she walks and stands and her cutesy smiles and waves just annoying. Sorry. Yes, I’ve felt like this for awhile tbh. I agree tonight’s outfit was another miss unfortunately. All those saying Meghan needs to ‘grow in confidence’ etc I honestly don’t think she’s lacking confidence even in her more role. I get the impression she thinks she knows what she’s doing and doesn’t need styling help 🤷🏼‍♀️

Clionba · 19/11/2018 23:20

Diana's maternity outfits weren't shockers, they were appropriate and stylish at the time. I remember her maternity style being celebrated as she wore nice colours and prints, big collars and frills. Maybe 30 years down the line people will laugh at Kate's maternity wear as old fashioned and lacking style!!

AhoyDelBoy · 19/11/2018 23:20

*Even in her new role

BettyBooJustDoinTheDoo · 19/11/2018 23:21

Whoever said the dress tonight looked like something out of Littlewoods swimwear section got it bang on.

user1457017537 · 19/11/2018 23:30

I’m sorry but some of Diana’s outfits were shockers, even for the 80’s. I thought she used to dress quite frumpy for someone so young.

Clionba · 19/11/2018 23:35

Diana was a style icon. We used to pore over magazines and copy her style. It was so counter to skintight 70s style, when so much was brown and beige , it seemed refreshing. She wore clear bright colours, like red and pink. She popularised flat shoes. It may be that her style has not always stood the test of time, but back in the day, we all copied her!!

SenecaFalls · 19/11/2018 23:37

This thread was fun when we were talking about clothes. I will bow out now as it's beginning to get a bit personal, and I am not comfortable participating in these kind of discussions.

BagelGoesWalking · 19/11/2018 23:48

Diana's maternity clothes were huge compared to what anyone would wear now. But the whole attitude to a Royal pregnancy was totally different, especially by the media. It was "dress in a tent big enough to hide any evidence that a royal prince and his virginal wife ever had sex".
Before Demi Moore and her naked bump on Vanity Fair (1991, a whole decade after Diana's first pregnancy) it was a whole different vibe.

user1457017537 · 19/11/2018 23:53

Not necessarily, stylish mums to be dressed well and didn’t dress in tents.

user1457017537 · 19/11/2018 23:54

I didn’t copy Diana’s style I always preferred Princess Caroline of Monaco

UrsulaPandress · 19/11/2018 23:55

I agree Seneca

Missyelliottsaysso · 20/11/2018 00:02

I agree too Seneca.

All getting too personal...for the record, I wish I looked as terrible as she did tonight.

PennyMordauntsLadyBrain · 20/11/2018 00:11

If you think a comment is too personal, then just don’t engage with it.

Drawing attention to it before leaving the thread yourself means the conversation could get derailed, which would be a shame given that the vast vast majority of these comments are talking about the clothes rather than the personalities of the women wearing them.

Want2bSupermum · 20/11/2018 00:12

Yes tonight's dress was horrible. She is at that horrible inbetween stage where you don't fit your regular clothes and you don't think you are ready for maternity wear.

That dress needed cap sleeves and not a stupid halter neck attempt with the ribbon. Her assistant should have known this. The ribbon added at the last minute made the outfit look far worse than it was.

Truth be told she needs a much better stylist. At this stage of pregnancy she should be in a v-neck dress with detailing to make it appear like she has a waist. My friend went to a ball last week at 38 weeks pregnant and wore a sequined maxi dress in dark red. DofS would have looked fabulous in it. I think she got it from Asos for not a lot.

user1457017537 · 20/11/2018 00:19

I quite liked the ensemble, I don’t like the trailing wet hems in the rain and dirt.

AFifthOfKoolAid · 20/11/2018 00:27

I like that she isn't dressing to give the illusion of a waist. Pregnant woman looking pregnant is fine.

AFifthOfKoolAid · 20/11/2018 00:32

I also think her hair looks fine. I can't see a single picture of her with a severe, coiffed style, so maybe she just doesn't like them. No reason why she should go for them now just because she's a duchess. It's clearly just not her style, just as coat dresses or jewel tones or whatever don't seem to be her thing.

And her annoying little waves, engaging with the people who have come out to see her. Terrible woman.

AFifthOfKoolAid · 20/11/2018 00:41

I love Meghan's style in this video, which packs 4 looks into 2 minutes. Ah to have the budget to look this chic!

halfwitpicker · 20/11/2018 01:53

I'm actually worried that she could trip up with that hemline. Why's it so long?

Not too sure about the whole ensemble, tbh, it looks like she is still getting used to her new shape.

halfwitpicker · 20/11/2018 01:54

Another thing, wasn't she cold?!

halfwitpicker · 20/11/2018 01:55

Also, I find the way she walks and stands and her cutesy smiles and waves just annoying.

^^

This is style and beauty. The clue is in the name.

IdaBWells · 20/11/2018 03:15

I agree, no need to get into personal attacks. We do gossip but it’s harmless. This is a cheerful, enjoyable thread, it’s lasted so long, let’s keep it that way.

Exactly! Looks like we’ve been told owlshooting
