Christmas Party dress help!

traceyturnblatt · 11/11/2018 14:13

I'm not long back to work after maternity leave and have a Christmas party night this year. I'm completely dreading it. I've had two children in the past three years and my stomach is horrible. I also don't like my upper arms. I like my legs though so that's something I guess.

I know it's next month but I really like the team I work with and want to go out with them but want to look good too! I haven't been out properly in years without a baby attached for me and want to enjoy my night off.

I'm a size 14, smallish busy and 5'7''. I'm a peely-wally Scot with dark hair and normally wear black.

Any advice on wear to look or suggestions?

Haha I reckon you’ll get away with keeping them all, think of it as economical because you’re getting them right at the start of the festive season meaning you can get more wear out of them Wink

@Cocobana that is true...Grin

I've ordered 4 Beccas altogether, one has arrived and it's... Ok-ish. Its a size 14. The other three are arriving this morning so I'll try them. They are size 12s so may be like rubber bands on a sausage but we'll see. Photos to follow, unless they are totally hideous on me!

That green velvet dress is amazing. Five years ago I would have totally worn that and swanned around like I though I was Naomi Campbell Grin

traceyturnblatt · 16/11/2018 10:48

I've got my dresses and tried them all on.

I got a Becca in a size 14 and I love it but it's so pricey!

Photos coming up once I remember how to edit my head!

Be warned though, it sheds! It's like I've been wrestling a bag of tinsel in my bedroom at the moment!

It won't let me add any more photos of the Becca dress Hmm tomorrow it'll have to be!

The second one out of those, although I think it could be a bit lower in the V neck and your legs definitely look fantastic Wink

LurkYouLongtime · 16/11/2018 11:38

Ok I've tried them on. Mostly a horror show... They are a bit short in the body for me (I have a long torso) so don't cover my belly enough, a bit of the skirt is tight on my tummy and my c-section scar is really pronounced. Ho hum. The quality of the dresses is nice though.

I think I'll possibly keep this one which seems a little longer than the others:

Feeling right a right chubber though. Tracey we are theoretically the same dress size but you look so much slimmer than me in your photos! Makes me wonder if I'm deluded...

Considering ordering this one as the torso looks longer... www.phase-eight.com/pws/ProductDetails.ice?UniqueProductKey=205051838&redirect=true&utm_source=google&utm_medium=shopping&gclid=CjwKCAiA8rnfBRB3EiwAhrhBGmoSKE9te03cXErTG1a-b4pKt81tXiEW_g2sFlwtWMq3bl5slOC7dhoCMLkQAvD_BwE

@LurkYouLongtime I'm sure you look lovely. Isn't funny that I think that I look like a tattie and don't like myself in any of those dresses?
Talk about built in insecurities!

I've got the first phase eight dress, that's the one I tried one and i love it. I actually feel really comfy in it.

I think we just have similar tastes as I looked at the second one too and thought it was really beautiful

The Becca dresses become a little big addictive. So comfortable and flattering. Can't wait to see a pic and I apologise now for the number you will end up getting 😂

toomanysmallpeoplecallmemom · 16/11/2018 15:05

I just took delivery of my becca dress (thanks thread ) it doesn't look that great on me to be honest 😪 might do for work but not my Christmas night out 😔

OHolyNightOwl · 16/11/2018 15:43

I love the look of the Becca dresses, but with my flat bum they would probably look awful. Are they really tight over the bum area?

traceyturnblatt · 16/11/2018 15:45

@toomanysmallpeoplecallmemom can you show us a picture? Sure you look lovely!

OP posts:
traceyturnblatt · 16/11/2018 15:45

@OHolyNightOwl I'm also little and flat of arse and it actually makes it look more like a bum!

vodkaandcranberry · 16/11/2018 16:46

I like the Lipsy one best. The shape is more flattering on you.

slithytove · 16/11/2018 17:20

I need pics of these becca dresses before I buy three please!

traceyturnblatt · 16/11/2018 18:44

@vodkaandcranberry thank you 😊 I love the lace on it.

@slithytove I'll upload my pics tomorrow as they won't let me even though it's not 6 Hmm I really like it!

Well hello OP whose entire body was hiding in that Jumpsuit!!!! You look great!!! I actually think you need to size down...anyone else think so...? The lace one is my favourite..the second dress v neck is too high...you look like a different person..nice boots by the way..where did you get them..I'd love to see you in a smaller size as I think you're doing yourself an injustice around the middle...mightn't work with ample boobs though...

traceyturnblatt · 16/11/2018 20:58

@bitofabelly wow thanks!😊 the boots are from new look and I've had them for years. I could order a size down in the lipsy dress but I'm worried it would cling to my belly.

The sparkly dress is in the return pile, I like it but I've been shedding bits of sparkle everywhere all day!

I do have two other dresses that I've taken photos of that I'll put up tomorrow too.

bitofabelly · 16/11/2018 21:06

Look forward to seeing the other pics...it's a pity you couldn't try the size down...I think you have plenty of room...would love to see it nipped in just slightly at the waist for more shape...great dress though

zolaaa · 16/11/2018 21:35

Bitofabelly just fyi some very similar black suede wedge boots in Debenhams.... will find a link
