Kerastraight permant blow dry - anyone had one?

I’ve got fine, highlighted quite fluffy hair that goes frizzy at the drop of a hat. My hairdresser has suggested I would benefit from a permanent keratin blow dry ( which lasts around 4-5 months?) as it would make my hair much more sleek and easy to manage.
Sounds great....but it’s about £170! Would anyone recommend it, or not? I’m interested in people’s experiences and whether it’s worth the money. Thank you!

I know two women with thick frizzy hair who have a Brazilian blow dry, similar price so sounds like the same sort of thing and their hair looks amazing. They can wash it and rough dry it and it goes back to being poker straight.

witchmountain · 04/11/2018 10:43

Yes, several, when I had long hair (and specifically I had the Kerastraight one). Worth every penny! You have to use shampoo and conditional without sodium in afterwards which means buying specific ones but apart from that it was amazing.

Grumpbum123 · 04/11/2018 10:45

Yes I have had one recently I can leave my hair to air dry and it goes lovely and straight and shiny I can’t ever imagine not having it now

witchmountain · 04/11/2018 10:46

I actually likedit because it didn’t make mine poker straight - I kept the wave without the frizz (although it very straight immediately afterwards). Depends on how straight your hair is. Wash hair, leave house, no hairdryer at all!

WobbleTime · 04/11/2018 10:57

Thanks all - that sounds amazing! If I wash and leave my hair to dry I look like a frizzy mess so to be able to leave it and it dry shiny and straight ish would be amazing. I think I might have to give it a go....how long would you say the results last for? Is 4-5 months achievable with the right shampoo and conditioner?

My hair is naturally wavy, slightly curly if left alone but is really easy to straighten. But it just goes fuzzy if I don’t dry it properly or I can spend ages blow drying and straightening then step outside and if the air is damp it just goes all fuzzy and looks awful.

I have kerastraight permanently (top it up every 3-4 months). I love it. Worth every single penny for me. Go for it, you'll love it!

spaghettiforhair · 04/11/2018 11:06

I had one 2 weeks ago and love it!! My hair is curly and I straighten it a lot but as soon as outside the weather affects it. Makes it so smooth and silky!

CompletelyKate · 04/11/2018 11:13

There are different sorts of keratin treatments one you can't wash for 3-4 days and the kerastraight one you wash out the next day. I have curly fine hair that frizzes and l have had both- I like kerastraight because you don't have to wait four days and it leaves in some volume but as others have said you must use non sulphate shampoo. I wouldn't go back to not having it- saves time and my hair looks so much better. Worth every penny IMHO

WobbleTime · 04/11/2018 11:23

Ooooh so much positive feedback! I may have to treat myself and give it a go.

Is 4-5 months achievable with the right shampoo and conditioner?

I think when I had mine (a few years ago now) the hairdressers (Brooks and Brooks in London who are brilliant) said it lasted 3 months but I found it easily did four and the subsequent ones may have lasted slightly longer.

I used to get the 500ml shampoo and conditioner from here because it was cheapest and service was good: www.merrittsforhair.co.uk/kerastraight.html

Haahhpy · 08/11/2018 03:39

Is it possible to have these treatments done on colour treated hair? They sound incredible.

Zoflorabore · 08/11/2018 05:56

Wow this sounds fabulous! My hair is naturally wavy and I'm useless at blow drying despite my efforts so end up just using straighteners.
How on earth does it work?

Scarydinosaurs · 08/11/2018 06:09

I have had them for a few years now, and I love it. My hair is definitely better for it as I never need to heat dry/straighten it. Wash, then air dry, and it is shiny and straight! Mine last six months and I use moogoo shampoo.

witchmountain · 08/11/2018 11:37

Haahhpy yes it is. A friend has recently had it done on hair that has been bleached for at least the last two decades and it looks much the better for it! I also used to have mine coloured (not bleached) at the same time - I think they did the colour first and then the Kerastraight.

WobbleTime · 08/11/2018 11:58

So, I’ve just booked in to have mine done next week! I’m having. KeraSpa which apparently is good.... I shall report back next Wednesday once it’s done for anyone who is interested!

Definitely going to ask for this for Christmas!

WobbleTime · 08/11/2018 12:16

I’ll get one of my kids to take a photo of my hair before and then post one after. Hopefully there will be a visible difference!

It’s £136. Gulp. Hope it’s good!!!!

WobbleTime · 08/11/2018 12:27

(It was going to be £170 for the salon director to do it so I’ve got one of the normal hairdressers who apparently has done loads of them so it’s a bit cheaper) Smile

Do you think this treatment would still be OK on henna'd hair? I normally dye it using standard dyes but on the back of another thread on here I'm really tempted to try the Lush Caca Marron henna instead. Don't want anything to interfere with me getting the kerastraight though, I've found someone near me that doe sit and I'm definitely gonna ago for it!

WobbleTime · 12/11/2018 09:19

I don’t know about henna but my hair is highlighted and it’s fine to highlight it 2 days before or after keraspa treatment. So I’d just ask and see?

Best thing I have ever had done to my hair. I wish I could afford to have it done again. My old housemate was a hairdresser and used to do it for me.

Slightlyjaded · 12/11/2018 23:14

Ooooh watching with interest. Sounds amazing. Please update after the treatment OP

AnneWiddecombesHandbag · 13/11/2018 16:46

Yes and I love it!!!

It's literally life changing. I have thick frizzy hair and after the Kerastraight it's totally manageable and I haven't picked up the hair straighteners since I got it done.
