Kerastraight permant blow dry - anyone had one?

I’ve got fine, highlighted quite fluffy hair that goes frizzy at the drop of a hat. My hairdresser has suggested I would benefit from a permanent keratin blow dry ( which lasts around 4-5 months?) as it would make my hair much more sleek and easy to manage.
Sounds great....but it’s about £170! Would anyone recommend it, or not? I’m interested in people’s experiences and whether it’s worth the money. Thank you!

That looks great @Roobub I'm going to get some. Did it sting your scalp at all?

Roobub · 05/12/2018 15:08

No, just my eyes and throat! Definitely use in a well ventilated area!!

SilkenTofu · 07/12/2018 09:26

You can put on a surgical mask if that helps.

SilkenTofu · 07/12/2018 09:26

Your hair looks beautiful Roobub.

SilkenTofu · 07/12/2018 09:31

Roo, how many times have you done the treatment? I've been doing it consistently now for about a year and a half. I am doing it next week but TBH it doesn't look like it needs it. I am only doing it incase I get it coloured and the texture changes and I am stuck with waves for 3 months. My hair has gotten silkier the more I do it. The condition will just keep getting better and better the more you do it.

Do you also use a serum before you dry? I use Moroccan oil. That also adds to the shine and smooth.

My real hair is not frizzy, it is wavy. Someone once asked me if I had done a perm and it didn't work Hmm When I was younger I always looked like I'd just come off an Aussie beach with tousled hair. As I get older I just think it makes me look like a witch. I look so much more sophisticated with straight hair.

Just found this thread I need to try this. Had it done at Tony and guy but it didn't last more than a few washes and was 120 pounds

Roobub · 07/12/2018 09:51

@SilkenTofu this was my first ever time trying it, but I'll definitely be doing it regularly from now on. I washed and rough dried it again last night and I'm so pleased with the results. It looks the same as it used to look after straightening, or maybe a bit better. I've tried straightening it a little as well (just literally 2 minutes gently running the iron over, not a full straightening like I'd have done before) and I have to say it looks great! Really silky. I'll only do this for 'special occasions' though I think now. Day to day, looking after baby, popping out etc just rough drying is perfectly fine. I've also vern out in the drizzle a few time and my hair has pretty much been unaffected, which is so different from before.

I have used Paul Mitchell skinny serum for years and I'm still using it, I have very good results with it. However, I'm very tempted to try the L'anza keratin healing oil... It looks good and make t feels like time to try something new. Also it seems that keratin products are what my hair has been crying out for so I just want to get all keratin everything!

I wish I'd known about this treatment sooner! I'm excited that the results sound like they'll get even better over time as I do it more.

I had one in August and my hair smelt like wet dog. Going to try diy

SilkenTofu · 07/12/2018 19:20

It is really easy to do Yoyoo. I can't even put my hair up in a clip I that useless but easily mastered my own Keratin treatment.

Yoyooyo · 07/12/2018 19:49

I have long thick wavy hair. Don't care about it being poker straight so much just want it smoother. Is it really damaging and how long does it look smooth? Toni and guys nano kertain treatment lasted two weeks if that. X

Roobub · 07/12/2018 20:23

I don't think it's damaging @Yoyooyo from what I can tell so far. I mean in that you really have to straighten it a lot when you're doing the treatment it is probably damaging but I think you'd more than outweigh that with how much less heat you'd need to use on your hair between treatments.

To be honest if anything the ends of my hair look in much better condition than before. I do suffer with split ends and they look much better, almost 'healed' after doing the treatment.

SilkenTofu · 08/12/2018 17:58

It isn't damaging. It is basically taking intense conditioner/ Keratin protein and infusing it into your hair via heat. If anything it should drastically improve the condition of your hair after a few treatments. It is not a harsh chemical treatment that strips your hair like bleaching or anything.

SilkenTofu · 08/12/2018 17:59

I think it was the nano Keratin treatment that made me resort to doing it myself.

Roobub · 08/12/2018 18:22

It's a total game changer.

Yoyooyo · 08/12/2018 18:24

Tempted to buy some. Did you do a patch test on a bit of hair first or just put it all on first go?

SilkenTofu · 08/12/2018 18:31

If you get reactions to stuff you may want to try it. I didn't and just went for it.

Menarefrommarsitwouldseem · 08/12/2018 18:36

Has anyone used this on very fine hair?

My hair is super fine, wavy and frizzy at the bottom. Straight and greasy at the roots.

Tempted to have a go once I've had my bleach 're done in January.

Roobub · 08/12/2018 19:48

I didn't patch test. I have quite a lot of allergies Confused but not normally to beauty products so I went for it.

I think it would be ok on fine hair. It doesn't make my hair particularly flat, just smoother.

Yoyooyo · 11/12/2018 11:53

Hows your hair Roobub? I would patch test just in case it really damaged my hair. I don't dye my hair or anything and always assume if something's too good to be true it probably is haha.

Tartpop · 11/12/2018 12:10

OOh just found this thread!!!!

I have booked for January!!! £150. The one which can be washed the next day.

My xmas pressie to myself.

Roobub · 11/12/2018 13:37

@Yoyooyo treatment seems to be going strong!

SilkenTofu · 11/12/2018 15:02

I've done mine but can't take a selfie without revealing my face which is too risky given the stuff I write on here. I'll get a pic soon. It is looking lovely. Like silk.

SilkenTofu · 11/12/2018 15:05

Tartpop, do it at the salon to see if you like it. However, if you like it please consider doing it yourself in future at the fraction of a price.

What I find is that I dropped £150-£200 on it but then when I came to leave I totally baulked at buying the shampoo, conditioner etc. that added another £50 on it. For me, it is actually the aftercare that needs the most focus. You will need an appropriate shampoo and conditioner. If you don't it will wash out after a couple of washes.

Yoyooyo · 11/12/2018 15:26

I bought Toni and guy sulfate free stuff was rubbish please tell me what stuff you use and I'll give this a go.
