Here we go again!

And by popular demand, here are the previous threads:

Special edition: Eugenie wedding thread

Harry and Meghan have 2 days more in NZ before they head back to London and, if I was her, I'd put on pyjamas, get Netflix fired up, and not leave my bed for several days! William and Kate will be out for a sporty engagement in Essex tomorrow and I'm sure we'll start to see them more as she's now officially back from maternity leave..

No idea what the continental royals are up to but New My Royals (does that title even make sense?) is my go-to link for them!

Re Harry being sidelined a la Andrew, by the time Charles is King or certainly by the time the kids are in secondary school, a lot of the old Guard will be dead or very bloody old. Someone will have to pick up the Royal work.
"The Queen’s ageing cousins, the Duke of Gloucester, the Duke of Kent, Princess Alexandra and the Duchess of Gloucester, who are all in their 70s and 80s, were at 570 events" that was in 2017 plus Princess Anne did 540 on her own.

OK in 20 years George, Charlotte and Louis will be starting to pick up work but I suspect there will be a role for Harry as a working Royal for a while yet

This is why a mistake has been made with B and E really. Take Edward, Sophie and Anne out of the mix and you've got LOADS of charities without patronage and 20 years before the next gen will be in the mix

user1457017537 · 30/10/2018 02:19

The royal engagements are a bit disingenuous. Often an engagement will count as say three, meet and greet, lunch and say opening on the same day for instance. Not quite as industrious as it would appear.

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 30/10/2018 04:49

Maybe William will rope in Beatrice & Eugenie.
I was so impressed by them both at Eugenie’s wedding.
They were both so confident and I loved. Eatrice’s Gatsby Speech
Given the latest book on Charles; I think it shows how petulant he is and is not prepared to include his brother’s own daughters.

I thought Fergie & Andrew we’re incredibly sweet at the wedding. Fergie was so enthusiastic and Andrew was fussing like a mother hen when he was tucking Eugenie’s train into the car...

By this do you mean you think B&E (whose name I love now I know the proper pronunciation Blush) should be working Royals?

AhoyDelBoy · 30/10/2018 04:52

Wouldn’t that extend to include Zara and Peter?

AhoyDelBoy · 30/10/2018 04:53

Curly is Princess Di’s wedding dress on display somewhere!? Shock now that I would love to see (along with Kate’s).

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 30/10/2018 04:56

The trench is back!
More details on today’s outfits

In the morning she was Wearing a Navy Karen Walker jacket. I thought it was a little bit of a clash with the charcoal jeans. However the single button and slightly cropped length was a good shape for her.

Pulling up a pew.

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 30/10/2018 05:08

@AhoyDelBoy

There is an exhibition in London at KP of a lot of her clothes till February 2019.

I remember all of them in the papers so next time I am in the UK I am definitely going!

Unfortunately my information about the wedding dress is old. It was at Althorp for many years. (Now kicking myself that I didn’t go to see it.)

Apparently it was returned to her children when Harry turned 30.

Meghan & Harry’s wedding outfits are at Windsor Castle this year.

Kate’s was on display in 2011 at BP, but I guess it is now in storage.

On one of the earlier threads; there was a poster who worked in the Historical Royal Clothes arena. She said many were stored at Hampton Court. It was a fascinating post.

I thought you were a UK based insomniac Curly Grin that must have been another poster. I would love to see both exhibitions but sadly I live in Australia (my DP is from NI) but I don’t think we’ll make it over that way before the exhibitions finish Angry.
I wonder if I write to the Palace requesting a Royal bride exhibition they’ll oblige Grin

AhoyDelBoy · 30/10/2018 05:43

I agree about the jacket and jeans clashing. I’d love to see Meghan in high waisted tailored trousers but I guess now she’s pregnant that might not work.

BigGreenOlives · 30/10/2018 06:04

Thank you for the new thread.

DoC looks stunning in every picture from what I can see. I think the lack of royal patron is really going to affect smaller charities as the older royals step down.

Paradyning · 30/10/2018 06:07

Meghan' white dress and Mac combo lols lovely. Not keen on the jeans and jacket like others.

Paradyning · 30/10/2018 06:18

Looks like another black gown tonight. Or maybe navy. Can't tell yet

Paradyning · 30/10/2018 06:20

Ooo black I think. It's nice. I like it!

ItsNiceItsDifferentItsUnusual · 30/10/2018 06:30

Curly Pippa looks fantastic in the 'borrowed' spotty dress. Completely different styling, but just as chic as Kate.

Also love her Jenny Packham looks although I actually prefer the daytime ones. The tea dresses in Singapore I particularly like.

Clionba · 30/10/2018 06:38

The Ken Wharfe book gives interesting details about engagements. He says that a few of them (Anne, Philip, HM) will fit several into one day, the others - not the case. He's quite scathing about what constitutes "work". Being driven to an engagement and staying for an hour is not a day's work. A slimmed down monarchy is entirely possible, they'll just have to deal with events differenly and be more flexible. Oh, and not have 4 months off a year.

thatone · 30/10/2018 06:39

Thank you for the new thread QueenoftheAndals.

Looked at today's outfits - all very in keeping with her signature style. I do like the evening dress and the brighter lipstick.

VanillaSugary · 30/10/2018 06:40

Morning!

Going back to curly's Kate's iconic looks - you can. Kw buy the Really Wild brand at the shop in Belvoir Castle near Grantham. It's expensive and I prefer Holland Cooper myself. I bet Kate has a few secret padded parkas in her wardrobe ready to cheer George in from the touchline 🏉

AhoyDelBoy · 30/10/2018 06:59

The dress looks navy to me?
Agree Pippa looks great in the polka dot dress. That must be very recently too as she is pushing a pram Smile

Moononthehill28 · 30/10/2018 07:25

Love the navy dress and shoes! I bet they are counting the hours now until they are on their way home!!

WipsGlitter · 30/10/2018 07:33

I really don't like all the buttons on her dresses. So 80s.

Moononthehill28 · 30/10/2018 07:35

I think PH looks absolutely shattered, whilst M looks fresher every day. I wish she’d ditch those trench coats. The white dress under it looks nondescript too.
