Here we go again!

And by popular demand, here are the previous threads:

Thread 5
Thread 6
Special edition: Eugenie wedding thread

Harry and Meghan have 2 days more in NZ before they head back to London and, if I was her, I'd put on pyjamas, get Netflix fired up, and not leave my bed for several days! William and Kate will be out for a sporty engagement in Essex tomorrow and I'm sure we'll start to see them more as she's now officially back from maternity leave..

No idea what the continental royals are up to but New My Royals (does that title even make sense?) is my go-to link for them!

I always found the accusations levied at Carole Middleton ridiculous. When the engagement was announced the press (ie the DM) wrote about her as if she was a Machiavellian genius of social engineering.

I did think the Waity Katie stuff had a grain of truth to it though... it wasn’t as if she made any real inroads at getting a career started between graduating and announcing the engagement.

Yay, new thread! My take on the brothers is that they've relied heavily on each other since their mother died and a little bit of separation now they're both married with kids is a healthy thing.

I remember googling Kate's school during all the 'doors to manual' stuff and it was about 30k a year which kind of put those 'Middletown's are so poor and lower class' jibes into context...

mmmgoats · 29/10/2018 22:37

@want2besupermum I'm always confused on that - I thought that was the case too but then am sure I heard William refer to her as Kate?! But I could absolutely be making that up Grin

Just came across this - Kate's top 50 'casual' outfits

There's been a lot in the press the last few days about a split between William and Harry if you read the articles though all they are saying is currently the share a household (KP) joint pr and some staff ect and have done since they were kids. Now they have families and as William starts taking on more responsibility it's a good time to have their own households in the same way Charles, Anne, Andrew and Edward do. It's a non story to me it's basically like saying brothers grow up get married and move out of home Wink

Paul Burrel is a special breed of lunatic.

Ha ha!! Yes indeed.

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 29/10/2018 22:40

Video of William & Kate carrying Louis at KP prior to the Dutch State dinner.
Louis is looking big and upright now. I guess we will not see a photo before the family Christmas portrait.

Want2bSupermum · 29/10/2018 22:42

The big issue that DofS has is that she has never really had a chance to discover the British high street. You would think someone in the RF staff would have helped her out. She would look great in Jigsaw.

frugalkitty · 29/10/2018 22:43

Love the new thread title! Back in the 80s my mum had a book about Diana called "Diana, the Fashion Princess" (I might have a rummage next time I'm there, she might still have it!)....and I used to love looking through it when I was a girl. I remember watching the wedding, and my Sindy doll had a copy of the dress! Grin

CoachBombay · 29/10/2018 22:43

River I think you are correct. I think you will see Harry far more involved with the invictus and military charities. He's still in charge of ceremonial duties of the Armed Forces so does have a day job per say, but it will be less public Royal engagements one PW is the price of Wales.

mmmgoats · 29/10/2018 22:43

good point @want2bsupermum there are some high street names that would really suit her figure

frugalkitty · 29/10/2018 22:45

Oh never mind the tiaras, I want a helicopter like the one in the video! A purple helicopter! Hmm, I'd have to go with matching amethysts..... Crown

QueenOfTheAndals · 29/10/2018 22:50

@mmmgoats You're not making it up, William refers to her as Kate a few times in their engagement interview and she's also mentioned in the St Andrew's student magazine as Kate, not Catherine.

I thought the separation thing was that they were separating their "courts" now that Harry is married and a child is on the way. Harry's work had been combined with the Cambridges; they shared a staff, private secretary, etc. I think the plan now is for the Sussexes to have their own, which makes sense.

I don't think Harry will be relegated to Andrew status while Charles is alive. Perhaps after William is king and his children are older, that will happen, but I think Harry and Meghan will be in the forefront for a while.

Want2bSupermum · 29/10/2018 22:52

Also, DoC couldn't wear jigsaw because of her family being friends with the owners. I always felt bad for Jigsaw because LK Bennet, Reiss and Hobbs have done very well here in the US thanks to DofC publicity of those labels. Jigsaw never got the same help.

SenecaFalls · 29/10/2018 22:57

I thought that Kate worked for Jigsaw for a short period of time. Is that right?

itswinetime · 29/10/2018 22:58

SenecaFalls. Yes I think that is all it is. I agree Harry won't be relegated till Williams kids are old enough to take on duties also And even then I don't see him disappearing as he is popular and Andrew never has been and has made some pretty high profile gaffs over the years! But we will see.

QueenOfTheAndals · 29/10/2018 22:59

Harry has Invictus and Sentebale (sp?) to keep him busy so I highly doubt he'll be another Airmiles Andy. He doesn't seem half as arrogant or entitled either!

I have interacted with the younger generation of royals on many occasions due to family connections and mutual friends. One little bit of information that I feel comfortable sharing is that having met Beatrice and interacted with her many times, she is down to earth, kind and funny and you would never know she was royal if you just happened to meet her without knowing who she was prior.

CoachBombay · 29/10/2018 23:05

Queen I have also just remembered him and Meghan have been appointed as the commonwealth youth ambassadors.

Hence Meghan's veil on her wedding day.

LeMesmer · 29/10/2018 23:38

Can I join you? I am not sure why I want to really as I am a staunch Republican, I beloved there is no place in 2018 for a hereditary head of state. Some of the Royals I really don’t like, some Ok (maybe nice?), although I am usually indifferent to them as people. I have little interest in fashion, although I occasionally enjoy looking at the frocks at a ‘big’ wedding.

But, but , but, I have read all these threads over the last couple of days and really enjoyed themGrin

LeMesmer · 29/10/2018 23:50

I actually think Edward has turned out the best of that generation after a very shaky start. Charles seems to be utterly entitled, somewhat arrogant, jealous of those who steal his limelight ( no idea why as it isn’t as though someone can usurp him from being heir). Although he does seem to have a very kind side, as with Doria at the wedding.

Anne with her tell it as it is, keep your distance from the plebs attitude might be considered downright rude and very cold if she was anyone else. She does work though in the context of what the Royals call work.

Andrew- what else is there to say?

Edward - I think ‘works’ a lot, no scandal about him, seems to be pleasant, Sophie seems to be very well regarded, two seemingly lovely children, the only one to have a successful marriage.

Perhaps something to do with being the last son and the youngest?

Horsemad · 30/10/2018 00:09

Loving the JP frocks!

LeMesmer · 30/10/2018 00:13

Sorry that should be believe not beloved!

I thought it was well public knowledge that not only did DoC work for Jigsaw she was forced to leave and work for her parents because fellow colleagues sold stories about her repeatedly particularly around the time of their short breakup. I don't think she wanted to work for the family firm I think she was left with no resort due to privacy. She really has sacrificed a lot for William and continues to.
