Here we go again!

Special edition: Eugenie wedding thread

Harry and Meghan have 2 days more in NZ before they head back to London and, if I was her, I'd put on pyjamas, get Netflix fired up, and not leave my bed for several days! William and Kate will be out for a sporty engagement in Essex tomorrow and I'm sure we'll start to see them more as she's now officially back from maternity leave..

No idea what the continental royals are up to but New My Royals (does that title even make sense?) is my go-to link for them!

It's nice that the Spanish naming convention also applies to royalty. So Felipe and his sisters have their mother's name too and are "Borbón y de Grecia" and his daughters are "Borbón y Ortiz".

Sofia's dress looks very 80s to me.

AhoyDelBoy · 02/11/2018 23:39

I’ve just realised Meghan has one of the bags I have my eye on for my birthday!

I definitely wouldn’t get the black and white though as that wouldn’t be practical for me. Thinking either brown or black.

BeautifulComicalThings · 02/11/2018 23:51

I do like Meghan but to maintain a good public image I think she should definitely be more frugal with her outfits. £1,800+ per day is a lot and It's hard to see where the cost has gone with her tour outfits. I really don't think she can carry on this way

BeautifulComicalThings · 02/11/2018 23:56

Feel a bit ridiculous calling less than £1,800 'frugal' but you know what I mean!

Want2bSupermum · 03/11/2018 00:25

I totally agree. I think too much of her wardrobe is by non British designers and too high end. There is so much available for £500 or less. I also thought too many of the clothes wore here rather than the other way around or didn't fit properly. I agree that whoever was her stylist needs to be replaced.

Quantumblue · 03/11/2018 00:44

Yes, I think she has too many clothes which are a bit similar. I hope, for example she does not feel the need to buy more navy dresses, or cream shifts. I understand that pregnancy is rapidly changing her body, so she will need some maternity outfits perhaps borrowed from Kate but after the baby I would hope to see some rewearing of all this new stuff.
She needs an actual lady's maid, who will take off labels, iron and sort each outfit and make her change if something is see through. (Could also run the iron over some of Harry's outfits as well).
It is part of the weird anachronistic world of royalty that she needs to look perfectly groomed when representing the Queen.

AhoyDelBoy · 03/11/2018 04:41

Isn’t the same as when Kate married William though? She’s obviously built up an extremely expensive and extensive wardrobe in the last seven years. Much like Meghan will.

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 03/11/2018 05:02

Kate has invested in timeless couture, which we will no doubt see recycled. She has reworn many of her evening dresses.
You can tell Kate is naturally thrifty. Her children wear hand me downs; including some of William’s.
Her mother & sister have been seen in her clothes.
Her maternity wardrobe was very reasonably priced high street.
Off duty, she wears Zara.

Meghan has expensive taste. And not all of it is tasteful.
We now associate her with Givenchy. The recent tour was a perfect opportunity to showcase British designers. And there were hardly any.
The fit of many of her clothes was appalling.
After her pregnancy; she needs a long hard look at her wardrobe.
The oversized look may be fashionable, but it makes her look messy.

She’s riding the honeymoon/ pregnancy wave at the moment. But the press will turn if she is seen as a spendthrift.
3 decades ago; Fergie was a “breath of fresh air”.

There have also been rumours behind the scene’s that Meghan is being called Di2. Not in a good way. I wonder if the splitting of the office of William and Harry into 2; has any significance. The Cambridge’s and Sussexes have 2 different styles

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 03/11/2018 05:13

Camilla day 2 in The Gambia. The white dress looks fresh and I love the bamboo handles on her bay.

Unfortunately last night’s posh housecoat looks identical to the previous night’s version. Camilla should have picked a different colour.

Until Eugenie’s wedding I hadn’t given Fergie and Andrew a thought for literally decades. So as I am sick at home I did a bit of trawling of news etc. just to see what I make of them. I looked at Fergie’s Instagram and it was an absolute cringe fest of very cheesy quotes and self promotion. I didn’t mind her swooning over her girls and the wedding, I give her a pass there.

But it just reminded me that Fergie just doesn’t seem to have good boundaries and understanding of what is appropriate when. I do feel she was completely dropped in the deep end when she married Andrew and apparently had no support and help with adjusting to her new role, so I have some sympathy. However the complete cock up she made of her own life was really of her own doing, she was only married a few years and the two Americans she shagged one after another were friends and it was almost like the first just passed her to the second. She was just incredibly naive and also got herself into absolute massive debt. I know this was all 20 years ago but unfortunately her lack of worldliness and wisdom just seems to still beam out of her insta.

So Meghan is definitely not Fergie and I think is getting a lot more support and help as she figures out her role. It makes total sense that she and Harry would have a separate court/press office as they will have a lot more freedom defining their roles and future lives compared to Will and Kate. Apparently H & M are not going to give their kids royal titles and follow Princess Anne’s lead that way. That makes the most sense because, although I imagine they will remain popular they are now a minor branch of the royal family. As they have children and the children get older the two princes will diverge and we know Prince Charles wants to keep a slimline RF. In the future it will just be Wills, Kate and their kids and all the hangers in (maybe even Harry and Meg) should not be on the balcony etc.

IdaBWells · 03/11/2018 05:55

I agree that Camilla has great taste and wears great clothes and fab hates.

I also agree that Meghan could look fabulous on a lot less. Some of her more modestly priced outfit were some of her best.

TipseyTorvey · 03/11/2018 06:21

I'm not sure how much money meghan was making in Suits but I'm guessing it was a decent amount so I'm wondering if she normally just defaults to designer stuff so for her the level of labels was her 'normal' for public display type outfits whereas pre marriage Kate wore Zara so that's her comfortable style. Agree with pp though that she needs to stop with the oversized flowy baggy stuff now. It just doesn't look smart (i am mid 40s though so maybe just not down with the kids)

AhoyDelBoy · 03/11/2018 06:30

Yes I see your point Curly. Meghan had much, much more time to develop a taste of her own though and can no doubt afford Givenchy in her own right.

Kate had to dress a certain way almost right from the get go. Although admittedly she dressed in a pretty dire fashion before they were engaged IMO. Why Kate wears Zara I’ll never know. The quality here in Australia is absolutely awful and I’ve often wondered if it’s any better in the UK because it seems popular.

I do think Meghan needs to have a look at her wardrobe definitely. She made small nods to Australian and New Zealand designers although Karen Walker is definitely out of range for your average Kiiwi.

Hopefully we see some improvement as time goes on.

X post of sorts Smile didn’t read that before I posted but I agree.

AhoyDelBoy · 03/11/2018 06:32

Off to looks at Fergies Instagram Grin

TipseyTorvey · 03/11/2018 06:37

Also agree with you Ahoydelboy that zara is terrible quality even here in the UK :). I only wore a lot of their tops when the DC were small and throwing up on me!

IdaBWells · 03/11/2018 06:42

Camilla wears great hats 😂

mathanxiety · 03/11/2018 06:42

Princess Caroline of Monaco looks like a bag lady to me in that photo, in a shiny black bag no less....

TipseyTorvey · 03/11/2018 06:43

Also just looked at Fergie's instagram and it struck me how many of her pictures are from the past almost as though she's hankering after the life she cocked up by so publicly cheating and got thrown out of. Sad really.

VanillaSugary · 03/11/2018 07:17

Camilla is wearing nude shoes in the first photo. Oh Kate, what have you done?

Also, the boy in the last photo doesn't seem too pleased to have been made to wear a kilt. Does anyone know who they are? Are they the ambassador's children?

BigGreenOlives · 03/11/2018 07:44

Although it’s a minor point I think they double counted the CofS’s shoes in some of the articles, it looked to me as if she repeated some pairs but they counted them twice in totaling the cost of her tour outfits.

I think Prince Charles pays for the clothes the DofC wears on duty in the UK.

I've said it before and I'll say it again - you cannot compass Meghan to Fergie! Or indeed Diana. Where are the rumours that she's being called Di2 coming from? Half the time the Mail just makes shite up.

William and Harry's offices splitting up was probably going to happen anyway as their paths diverged - Meghan is hardly Yoko Ono!
