Got the little fucker. Phew. Half a bottle of saline irrigated all over my eye and it suddenly floated back into position because I could see with that eye again, then got it out. Didn't like that at all. Thanks, Never!

neveradullmoment99 · 27/10/2018 20:22

That's great :)

ilovecherries · 27/10/2018 20:32

whatname I tried it on in JL for curiosity - no intentions of buying it as I don't have anywhere to wear it. It was true to size on me, if you are small of boob, you might be able to size down. I sadly looked like a sack of spuds in a size 12 - but I am 32K and I just looked like a massive set of boobs. The fabric feels quite fragile. BUT it looked very lovely, and I think on someone slender with smaller boobs it would look good.

ella you look fabulous as always!

whatnametouse · 27/10/2018 20:41

Thanks ilovecherries. I have boobs so probably not the best for me then

Ellapaella · 27/10/2018 21:02

Have realised in my photo of my jeans I look like I'm about to take off on a line dance..

Cherries reading that all made me squirm a bit and I had to have a large gulp of Prosecco. As a nurse I can tolerate almost any body parts and am fine with blood, guts, vomit, phlegm, bowel stuff etc but I'm afraid eyes do it for me. Even thinking about them makes me feel a bit shaky! I could never wear contact lenses and I have always been very bad at the opticians or performing eye exams!

Never how should I wear my scarf? I'm not very good at getting big scarves to hang properly.

Cherries I'm very relieved you managed to get it out! He thought of it swimming g veins your eye makes me feel a bit 😱

*behind your eye
Sorry for the typos.. must have been a very big swig of Prosecco.

I usually just fold in half and put it on my neck and thread it through the loop. There is a great you tube video with lots of ideas for scarves. I will see it I can find it.

25 ways to wear a scarf

neveradullmoment99 · 27/10/2018 21:15

Link didn't work

ilovecherries · 27/10/2018 21:18

haha, sorry about that, Ella!I was a nurse for many years, and a midwife, before I had a career change. It was phlegm that did it for me. I could deal with anything but a sputum sample.

Ellapaella · 27/10/2018 21:22

Thanks Never
Cherries collecting sputum samples is one thing I don't miss 🤢😷

Hello what have we all been up to today ? I got a v early boat out this morning and been visiting DPs. Surprised to see no-one else has posted today..

ilovecherries · 28/10/2018 18:13

I killed the thread with my nursing yuck! Have also been to see mum and dad and now feeling a bit sad and down. DH driving (obvs not me!)

neveradullmoment99 · 28/10/2018 18:15

I was wondering the same. Its has been the quietest today! I have just been busy doing house things. :) Now prepping for work tomorrow.

neveradullmoment99 · 28/10/2018 18:15

Why you sad @cherries?

ilovecherries · 28/10/2018 18:46

Oh, the usual, I guess. They are getting frail, my dad is completely focussed on having everything in order for me and every time I see them gives me more instructions. My mum is probably depressed that she only has me left and worries about me not having them and having no siblings left to share the load when the time comes. She is totally together mentally but lives a lot in the past when she had three of us. Plus looking at parents reminds us of our own mortality I guess. Now I really WILL kill the thread :(.

neveradullmoment99 · 28/10/2018 19:07

Oh @cherries. I totally get it and no, it wont kill the thread. I am the same. Was at my mums yesterday and she is looking so much older. She was talking about when she dies etc and instructions like you. It is very very hard. It makes me so sad when i see someone i have gone to for help be the one that is asking me for it :(

neveradullmoment99 · 28/10/2018 19:08

..she has been my sounding board when things have got tough at home and at work. She has helped me out in so many ways. I really cant imagine life without her.

neveradullmoment99 · 28/10/2018 19:09

..she has been interfering and a right PITA dont get me wrong but she has always been there.

Ellapaella · 28/10/2018 20:05

Ah cherries - you didn't kill the thread it was me getting squeamish and then talking of sputum samples 😫
Sorry to hear you are feeling sad. It sounds tough for you. My parents are in their early 70's and my Dad in particular still seems so young - I can't imagine a time when they won't be here. They live the other end of the country to me though and it's always in the back of my mind that if something happens to one of them then I am so far away it will be so hard to help.

What's everyone been doing today? We have gone a bit quiet haven't we? I've been on a very long walk with the dog today while DH did some baking and Halloween crafts with the kids.
I'm working tomorrow but have the rest of the week off and I'm taking the DC down to see my parents and catch up with some of my friends and their kids back home. Also going to see my sister in London as she's recently moved house.

Yeah, my parents seemed pretty much indestructible till they reached about 84, it’s only quite recently I can see their world shrinking. I’m staying in Scotland next week. Couple of client meetings, drs appointment, hygienist, leg wax - all the important things

ilovecherries · 28/10/2018 20:21

And more coat shopping :)

Ellapaella · 28/10/2018 20:36

Well coat shopping sounds fun..
Are you going glamour or practical or both?

OP posts:
ilovecherries · 28/10/2018 23:11

Well, I could have spent about 1.5k on Friday on 6 coats I loved, mixture of dressy and comfortable. Managed not to buy any as I couldn’t decide, going to revisit this week to try and choose one. And only one! And given my lifestyle, that needs to be warm and practical.

Have ended up having a good cry and now got a splitting headache. It’s days like today that I regret stopping drinking!
